This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of July, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self, through Miss [1522] Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1953].

3. Now as we find, there are sources of infectious forces, or an infection that causes the reactions in the body which affect the muscular forces as well as the heart’s activity, and the FUNCTIONING of the circulatory forces, that unbalances the metabolism of the system.

4. These are conditions as we find them, then, with this body, [1953] we are speaking of:

5. The blood supply indicates a toxic condition, and a source of infection.

6. In the liver and gall duct, and the area about the gall bladder are, we find the sources of infection.

7. This also tends to make for the disturbances with the general eliminations (and these then are reflex - of the heart’s disturbance in the circulation), the causes and the sources of those conditions from which the muscular forces have the arthritic reactions occurring.

8. These as we find may be eliminated, if there will be the PROPER precautions taken and the right manner used to produce same.

9. First, we would apply heavy Castor Oil Packs over the liver and the gall duct area, and caecum area, for two hours at a period, for three to four days - or evenings. Change the Packs several times during the two hours, you see, or else use an electric pad on same to hold the heat. Apply about three thicknesses of flannel, wrung out of Castor Oil as hot as can be handled. Cover same with heavy towels, you see; and change once or twice during the two hours, even with using the electric pad.

10. On the fifth day, - that is, after the Packs have been used for four days, you see, - we would take two tablespoonsful of Olive Oil, to ELIMINATE those conditions which will have arisen by the absorbing of the Castor Oil through the system. This does not mean that other eliminants should not be taken before then, if necessary, but take the two tablespoonsful of Olive Oil on the fifth day (not before), for this should follow the Packs, you see.

11. THEN we would begin with taking a thorough colonic irrigation two to three weeks apart, or every two to three weeks; WITH a deep massage AND adjustments in the areas specifically from the 2nd and 3rd cervical to the end of the spine.

12. And we should find we will bring much nearer normal conditions for this body, eliminating this unbalance in the metabolism, this tendency towards the arthritic and the general disturbing conditions of rheumatic nature.

13. In the diets, keep away from fried foods. No red meats of any kind.

14. Ready for questions.

15. (Q) Should the corrections be made osteopathically? (A) As we have given, massage WITH corrections. The masseur should be able to make such corrections as are needed here, - these in the areas from the 1st and 2nd cervical to the end of the spine.

16. (Q) Is there any organic heart condition? (A) Reflex and sympathetic.

17. (Q) Will adhesions in my intestines require surgical care? (A) Not if those activities as indicated are followed, for these will tend to break up these lesions that tend to cause the backing up of the poisons and toxic forces, as we have indicated.

18. (Q) Will I be relieved of my arthritis? (A) As has been given.

19. (Q) Will I ever realize financial independence thru oil operations in Kansas. (A) If the operations are carried on, independence will be eventually had in this direction.

20. (Q) Will I ever recover money that has been entrusted to other people? (A) Only partially so.

21. We are through for the present.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach Va.

Dear Mr. Cayse:

My friend Miss [1522] made arrangements with you for a reading for me last July. You said I had gall bladder trouble and to use Castor Oil compresses. I have suffered for years with arthritis in my spine. But my intestinal tract and digestive organs have given me no trouble and I was naturally amazed. In about 2 or 3 weeks after I relaxed for your reading, I had an acute attack of the gall bladder. Xray showed no gall stones and also found the gall bladder emptying normally. I have had constant pain since - and now they are giving me medicines to RELIEVE the pain. Quantities of gas form in the intestines both day and night and I have lost fifteen pounds. When this attack came on, I was too frightened to write to you or to notify Miss [1522] - I regretted that I had submitted to such a diagnosis and having suffered so much I still feel that I should not have taken such a course. I had suffered so much with the other condition before I wrote to you - But this terrible pain in my epigastrium in addition has been quite unbearable. And, as I have already told you - I was even afraid to THINK about you. But as this goes on and on I MUST know what can be done about it.

Dear Miss [1953]:

Have yours of the 26th - evidently from what has been your experience the suggestion as to the source of your trouble was correct, and the suggestions for the relief and correction of same is there. Feel sure if that is adhered to very sincerely as suggested - all will be well. If waiting so long afterward has made it worse that surely isn’t the fault of the information, but follow the suggestions all the way, and this may all be relieved.

Dear Miss [1522]:

Are my questions OK? If you want to tell him I am on relief you may - for I AM! I asked what I consider some very important questions. Oil operations in our County in Kan. are at a stand still. But I had hoped they would eventually strike a gusher! Question #5 is also very important. It is of long standing but may work out in time. I’m so glad I met you this morning and you were so kind to send me this application. That “20.00 cash herewith” is staring me in the face, but I can’t do any thing about it. It doesn’t seem possible but it really is two years in July since my back became so painful and it is still at it. If I can get this reading, it will certainly be an interesting experience.

B2. 6/30/39 Miss [1522]‘s letter: ”…First of all I enclose 10. as a first payment for a sponsored reading for Miss [1953] who has been ailing for so long and unable to regain her health. I will send the other 10.00 at the end of July, … Dr. Dobbins in a short conversation told me you are booked up … Miss [1953] asks questions which may not be applicable in a Physical reading, but I will tell her not to expect too much. She is a lovely person and has tried so hard to get well. I enclose her letter which tells you more of her status…”

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Miss [1522] called me this morning and said that you had given me an appointment July 12th between 10:30 and 11:30 AM - E.S.T.

I have suffered much pain for many years - the past three years it has been very persistent - lying on my spine causes severe pain in Sacro Iliac region, lower limbs and the entire left side is involved. Climbing stairs is very painful and causing rapid heart and respiration. The questions I sent you by Miss […] are all very important as this is both a physical and financial crisis. They tell me at the clinic that they have no cure for me. You have been very kind to consent to do this for me and I shall do my best to cooperate.
