This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of July, 1939, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [578], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born July 16, 1939, 11:00 A. M., Norfolk, Virginia. Time of Reading 11:45 to 12:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Virginia.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - baby [1958]. [EC gave baby it’s name.]

3. In giving the interpretations of the records as we have them here, - as we have oft indicated, these change as the application is made in the experiences of the individual entity; so that with each cycle there are urges that may be of a GENERAL nature or become specific through the application, as just indicated.

4. So it will be with this entity.

5. It is not only a Uranian but an Atlantean, and the combination will be something to DEAL WITH! as to temper, as to having its way; for it WILL have its way, irrespective, for the first fourteen years it will have ITS way, irrespective! It will wrap most of those about it around itself, in one manner or another.

6. Then, there needs be those warnings that are indicated not only in the mental and spiritual attributes but in its physical and mental development.

7. Coming in the fire sign with the aspects of the Moon, as well as the Sun, in the positions to bring the greater strength, we find that with precautions little may ever be feared about the health, - if there are the general precautions. For the strength, the virility, the very activities will make for a physically strong, developing body, - unless other conditions arise, of course, when it is at those positions in the Uranian influence of the other extreme - and such if coming would be more by accident than by natural causes.

8. In the training, as has been oft the injunction: Train a child in the way when it is young, - when it is old it will not depart from same. In this entity it will be when it is old that it will apply that which has been the indicated application in the experience of the developing mental and physical body.

9. As indicated - in the astrological aspects - Uranus, the Sun, the Moon, - these all are at their strengthening powers, astrologically.

10. Hence there will be the development towards a large, strong physical body. Of course, such tendencies or indications may be altered by the activities of the glandular forces of the body, and thus become a physical condition; but as for the health, - STRONG!

11. As for the aspects in the Uranian influence, we find the extremes. The entity will be at times very beautiful in character, - at others very ugly; very beautiful in body and mind, - at others the other extreme. For these will have an influence, and the entity will be an extremist through the first fourteen years of its experience.

12. High mental abilities. One that will make a study of how to have its way, - and will make for activities that will draw upon the better influences. But DO NOT break the will of the body in correcting same, - rather give the lesson by precept and example.

13. In Jupiter we will find those influences pertaining to the associations with groups, masses, crowds.

14. We find Mercury indicated in the high mental forces.

15. In Venus we find the influence of beauty, - music and stringed instruments, including the piano but other instruments the more. Not the harp so much, but the harpischord and the many stringed instruments. The natural tendency of the entity will be to go to the extremes in its choice of activities, associates, music, and the delving into this or that influence.

16. The entity will be inclined to be very religious, outwardly and inwardly - but not often at the same time!

17. As to the appearances in the earth and the influence these will have upon the emotions of the body:

18. We find that, the entity being of the fire sign, the great emotional influences would appear; but the inclination will be to be cold rather than exceedingly emotional outwardly, - but a great deal of emotion inwardly.

19. Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during those periods when there were the first settlings in the land.

20. There the entity was associated with those in and about the places of the first settlements, - Jamestown, Williamsburg and the like, and in the name Helene Olmsby.

21. In the experience the entity gained, and the entity lost. It gained because of its activity among all of the peoples, - lost in the allowing of its temper, its emotions, in having its way, to run sway with self at times.

22. Hence these in the present are to be not checked, but governed. NO ONE - this individual or any other - is worth much without a temper, but uncontrolled is worthless!

23. In the application then of the experience, - those things that have to do with out of doors, nature, will naturally be attractive in the first experiences, the first years of the experience of the entity; and it should be kept in the open just as much as practical for the entity to be.

24. Those things pertaining to weird characters of music as well as the songs of nature, will be of interest, especially. Hence in and through same many persuasive moments may be had in the experiences of those who would direct and control the entity in its choice of activities from time to time.

25. Before that we find the entity was in the Palestine land when the Master walked in the earth.

26. The entity was among the children of Bethsaida who were blessed by the Master.

27. There we find the entity had a great period of development in the spiritual things, and - as has been indicated - we will find periods when there will be extremes towards the desire to know, to learn, to have the stories and experiences of all of those who were active during that period told to the entity. For this was builded into the experience of the entity, though the entity was not aquatinted with same save the experience as He passed through and there taught His disciples humility.

28. Again it may be said that those who would direct the experience of the entity are to teach the entity humility, as then was being taught by Him to those who would become teachers and ministers in the experiences and lives of others.

29. The name then was Naphtha, but of the peoples of Bethsaida, - who were friends of Philip and Bartholomew.

30. In the experience the entity gained. In the present it may apply those experiences for the greater awakening, - whether pertaining to home, to music, to activities in the various spheres of relationships to others.

31. Before that we find the entity was in the land now called the Egyptian, during the period when there were turmoils and strifes in the land.

32. The entity was among those of the Natives who joined in the Rebellions against the King, and the Rebellions against the activities of the King in relationships to the Priest. Hence the entity was divided between those peoples who sided in the Ibex Rebellion and those who aided in the Native Rebellion.

33. There we find the entity gained through the greater portion of the experience. For, with those purposes and activities toward a universal force or nature, we find that - with the return of the Priest - there came the abilities for the unification of many of the thoughts of the various peoples represented in unifying the activities following those experiences.

34. The name then was Sek-til. In the experience the entity gained, for there was the thought of the common people, the experience of the masses, rather than those who were in authority or class; and in such the entity was active, - yet raised to power through the latter portions, yet remained true to the masses and for the general benefit of those who served the more.

35. In the present experience the application of this may be used as the means of sources for the reasoning; for in the application reason must be the keynote for the entity.

36. Never give the entity a command, then, without a reason for same. Never give a correction without the WHY such is the better, - whether it be in the material, the mental or the spiritual.

37. Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land, during those periods when there were the second of the upheavals.

38. The entity was among the children of the Law of One, and the entity gave of itself as a sacrifice for the attempt a to bring to the consciousness of the greater portion of the people those influences and forces for the relationships of the Creator to the creature.

39. Hence we will find in the latter portion of the experience the entity becoming a teacher and a missionary in a manner to a great THRONG of peoples.

40. The name then was Esma.

41. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, then, and that to which it may attain, and how:

42. As has been indicated, this will depend a great deal upon the manner of the expressions and the awakenings that arise in the experience of the entity through the formative or developing periods.

43. It will be understood that the entity has a mind of its own that is to be reckoned with!

44. Then, those who would train same, - study to show themselves approved unto God. Not then only by precept but by example teach the entity.

45. For, the Way was shown by precept and example.

46. The blessings that were received are with the entity, as with each soul that seeks.

47. Then train the entity to seek that counsel, that aid, - that stands ever ready for activity with the best within self.

48. In the expressions, - we would find the rough gold as the emblem.

49. The seal would be the green of the holly with the red as well as the snow berries, - a cross within the crown of same.

50. These would indicate, as would the trials and the temptations come, the rest in which there is the strength for its activities.

51. Never have things mauve about the body, nor much purple. Rather the blue and pink, delicate shades, and shades of white and green, - these will make for a much more even temperament and bring environs of greater strength.

52. Keep the way open in the early periods for the greater development.

53. When twelve, we would give the next cycle.

54. Ready for questions.

55. (Q) Specify any particular characteristics that should be developed in early training, or overcome? (A) As has just been indicated.

Anger should be controlled, and the dependence should be in the spiritual things; the activity of those about the entity should teach these not by precept alone but by example.

56. (Q) Is this the same soul mentioned in the mother’s Life Reading, that would come to her? [578-2] (A) Not the same soul. [See 1958-1, Par. R2.]

57. (Q) In the Egyptian period was she marked by Ra-Ta? (A) Not in that. Rather in the blessings of the Palestine sojourn. Look in the palm of the hand and under the right arm.

58. (Q) Please interpret the name, and why this name especially fits her? (A) As indicated from the experiences and activities through the sojourns, - the name indicates the beauty, the strength, and yet the need of self-denial as well as self-expression.

59. (Q) What are her key notes? (A) We haven’t key notes.

60. (Q) Are there any physical weaknesses to guard against? (A) As indicated, it will run away with itself if given just half a chance!

There is very little to be feared about the health, if precautions of the general nature are taken, save as those things that might be of an accidental nature.

61. (Q) Why the great difference in the birth date and the date specified in mother’s last Check Reading? [578-9, Par. 11-A, giving 8/15th to 9/15th.] (A) To relieve the anxiety.

62. (Q) What are her musical notes? (A) We have no musical notes!

R1. Between 10/6/39 and 9/8/43 Mother obtained three Physical Readings for her - See 1958-2 through 1958-4.

R2. Mother reported she had all the problems indicated - every single prediction was absolutely true. She had her hands full with the child until she was in her teens, then the child leveled off, becoming quite grown up and no longer a problem. Quite early in her teens she became a dancing teacher, starting her own school; very independent and successful.

Immediately after her eighteenth birthday she married a nice young man and started raising a family.

The mother feels that one of [1958]‘s children is the son who was mentioned in her Life Reading, 578-2 [See 1958-1, Par. 56-A] even though they are both girls. While she tries not to show a difference, she just “melts” with one of them. Mrs. [578] told GD, 12/10/65, that [1958] is a pure pleasure to her - they are very close, especially now that [1958] is also a mother and home maker.

R4. JT’s note: 4/22/97 Mrs. [578] called me at 11:00 A.M. to tell me her daughter [1958] had died at home of bone cancer on April 3rd. [1958] was diagnosed two years ago and had radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Last fall (1996) she had begun to have pain in her legs again. She was brought home from the hospital the week before she died.

Private funeral arrangements were handled by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home. Mrs. [1958] was cremated and a memorial service was held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday the April 6th at the Bayside Christian Church. [1958] wrote her own memorial service some months before she died and her mother said it was most unusual in that very little was said about [1958] but her daughter wrote about the wonderful people in her life, and how much each individual had meant to her.

[1958]‘s husband will remain in [578]‘s home and will help Mrs. [578] who is now alone. Mrs. [578] said she felt so grateful for his decision as it allowed her to remain in her own home. She told me he took such meticulous care of the house, the yard and the flowers.
