-
HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1984].
-
As we find, there are acute conditions from a combination of disturbances; where there have been adhesions through the abdominal area, the effects from disturbances there, that have caused a great deal of trouble in the circulation of the lymph through the portions of the body, - as to cause neuritic, with arthritic tendencies in same.
-
And, with the application of properties, these have been caused to become inflamed; thus causing acute conditions.
-
We would have as little as possible of the narcotics or sedatives.
-
And we would use the heavy Grape Poultice over the abdominal and caecum area, especially. Crush the raw fresh grapes (preferably Concord), leave in hull, and apply direct to the body, between thin gauze, about an inch thick. These would be constantly changed as they become so warm from the body heat as to be uncomfortable, or about every hour or hour and a half. Keep these up continuously until the condition is relieved.
-
Also as the principal diet, for at least a few days, we would use the Grape Juice and grapes.
-
Thus, as we find, we would bring aid to the system.
-
Well that there would be colon irrigations; not too much at the time, as to cause the inflamed and thinned wall to become so as to cause peritonitis; but until there is a higher temperature, or unless such occurs, we find that these applications will be effective.
-
And if these will be applied, as we find these may be the more helpful. Otherwise, operative measures only would be the last resort.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Does this involve the appendix area? (A) This has been removed, - it is throughout the caecum or the colon and caecum area, where there is the adhesion to the lower right groin. Hence that drawing in that portion of the leg, see?
Do these, if we would bring the better forces for this body.
- We are through for the present.

Also wired Mrs. Mayer as follows:
Crush fresh raw Concord Grapes and apply direct to body between gauze poultice inch thick over abdominal and caecum area changing every hour. Also principal diet should be grape juice and grapes. Give gradual colonic irrigation not enough to irritate. If higher temperature arises operation will be last resort.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 9/1/39 Mrs. Mayer’s letter: “The data is rather meager, but I have sent it all on to her, excepting the possibility of an operation. I will of course let you hear what the effects are because she is undertaking the treatments, even though Concords are not yet on the market. At least not in the small town where she is. I sincerely and deeply pray for effective results for I think her time on earth is not logically over.”
R2. 1/19/40 Mrs. Mayer’s letter requesting a Physical Rdg., for another of her students, Miss [2086]: “You will be happy I am sure to learn that Miss [1984] whom you advised last summer has improved enough to do part time work and has been assisting me for some weeks. I am convinced that the advice you sent her was the means of the basic aid in bodily reconstruction.” (1/19/40 Miss [2086]‘s letter: “I am impressed with Miss [1984]‘s results of her work with you.”)
R3. 2/2/40 Miss [1984]‘s answer to questionnaire: “Yes, the analysis of the reading did cover my condition, very accurately. Symptoms described correctly were pain in abdominal region, especially on right side - appendix area and caecum appendix removed - adhesions in abdominal wall, which was irritated and thin. The physician’s analysis was that adhesions were in the above mentioned region, which showed up in x-rays. Yes, I followed the suggestions for about four weeks. No immediate change noted while treatments were taken. After about a month of condition being treated it was somewhat alleviated, provided I kept off my feet. Came to N.Y. to work, and in less than two weeks condition markedly improved, and continued to do so, until pain disappeared entirely in about a month. I find that climbing stairs brings it on again, or long walks, but with ordinary precaution I am not even conscious of any disturbance. In honesty I must say, however, that I think much of the improvement was due to help given me by Mrs. Mayer directly, after I came to N.Y. She has brought about an amazing improvement in my general health. Only today with her special techniques she relieved me of severe arthritic pains. I returned to … for a week’s vacation, and the pain returned while there.”
Background
Background
B1. 8/10/39 Mrs. Mayer’s letter: “Miss [1984] has developed an increasingly sharp pain just above the groin on the right front side. Sharp stab like a knife with every movement and general soreness in that section of the body. Also pain and heat running down the right leg. Will you be so good as to attend to this at once as otherwise she will be forced to go to town to a doctor. Will you ask Mrs. Cayce to ask the cause and what to do? She has been looking forward to work after an absence because of arthritis. She is about 50 years old, unmarried, of southern family. She had a major abdominal operation some fifteen years ago, long before I knew her. I shall be grateful for your help on this and at your earliest because it is an acute situation, growing steadily worse.
“I have written her and if you send her word to relax and tune in at a definite time she will know what to do. If the report is not too serious send it to her directly. If it is acute, better to me first. She is now incapacitated for work being obliged to keep off her feet because of the sharp pain.”
