GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1990].
-
As we find, while developments are near normal in many ways, there are disturbances that may grow into greater disturbance later on. Or, if there is the physical activity in some directions it may gradually grow OUT of same, or grow worse in same; affecting the auditory forces as well as the assimilating.
-
Here, as we find, is a demonstration of that which has oft been indicated through these channels as to the value of mechanical (osteopathic) adjustments, where medicinal properties may never touch.
-
Through outside influences there are these TWO areas where there is a disturbance (this varies at times); in the 2nd cervical and in the 3rd and 4th dorsal. Hence we find, with any unusual exercise or activity the body becomes upset; headache, sick at the stomach. Or, with any unusual movement - as auto, car or the like - this unbalances the equilibrium in the ear and causes nausea through the reflex of these on the system.
-
We would, then, to correct same:
-
Each evening massage the body, from base of brain to at least the middle of the spine, with Peanut Oil; not attempting to make corrections, but dip two fingers in the oil and massage on either side of the spine - downward, several - several times, what the body will absorb.
-
After the massage has been done for something like a week, have a good osteopath to make adjustments. This should not require more than one or two such adjustments, if the massage is kept up for a week to ten days afterwards. Make the adjustments with particular reference to the cervical, - 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and in the 2nd and 3rd dorsal.
-
Do these, and we may prevent a greater disturbance with this body later on, [1990], - as to hearing, as to eyes.
-
The rest we would keep - the diet and the general attitudes about the body - in that manner as we have indicated.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Comment on present dosage of Atomidine being taken as Infantile paralysis preventative, considering glandular system. (A) Better leave this off while these adjustments are being made. Take up after there is the getting over this activity that produces these unbalanced conditions in the sensory system.
-
(Q) Should mullein tea be taken, what dosage and how long? (A) As just indicated, leave these off until these corrections are made, and then carry on in that manner as has been outlined.
-
(Q) Any other advice as to precautions that should be taken? (A) These, of course, must be as has been indicated - especially for extremities.
-
We are through with this Reading.

[Question answered without being asked: “Does he rub his ears because of a physical irritation? Please explain and advise.”]
(Will get name of osteopath from Dr. Richardson and send in next mail.
See extra sheet [which was enclosed] for osteopath.
August of 1941 this child was thrown from a mule, landing on his head and was unconscious for nearly an hour. Following this fall he was taken to an osteopath in Norfolk, Virginia and in the period of the next week he was given two or three treatments.)

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/20/42 Father’s letter to sister, [1523]: ”…I have been intending to write you about the latest developments in [1990]‘s case. As I told you in the last letter, I have been pretty busy around the house since [2695] came home from the hospital…and I have been trying to do all I can to relieve the pressure… With all of this I kept [1990]‘s treatments in mind and was determined to get them started…thru information I obtained Dr. Saxmann’s [Robert B. Saxmann, D.C.] telephone number, called him and made an appointment for that night at eight o’clock, took [1990] over and had an adjustment for him.
“[1990] behaved very nicely throughout his treatment. The Dr. checked up on him before reading the reading - checked over and pointed out the vertebra out of line, then he read the reading which coincided in every way but one; number of treatments. [1990] has vertebra out of place right at the base of his skull which is causing most of his trouble and it has to be brought back into line. This has to be done in an indirect way as the doctor cannot get directly at it. He asked me to write and check with Mr. Cayce on that point. He is very favorable with regards to the reading and follows it closely. He said if the reading had said - two treatments a week it would confirm more closely with what he found. I am taking [1990] over twice a week, Friday and Monday nights at 8:00. He has been very hard to handle for [2336] the past few weeks and the doctor says it is due to his nervousness caused by the pressures in his spine. I hope we can get this corrected very soon as he is about to drive [2336] crazy.”
R2. 1/23/42 Aunt’s [1523] reply to father [2385]: “I discussed [1990]‘s case with Mr. Cayce this morning, and he gave the following explanation.
“The fall no doubt left or caused a bruise. At the time [of the fall] Dr. Richardson [of Norfolk, Va.] gave him the one treatment - as you know I took him in for a treatment within a day or two after the fall - the efforts of the body to throw off the bruised tissue had not been completed, thus accounting for his saying that there were no pressures in the spine. Evidently the bruised tissue lodged in that section of the upper spine causing pressures. This over a period of time would form a lesion that would have to be broken down, thus permitting the correction to be a permanent one. The massage should have helped bring about a breaking up of the lesion and with two treatments the condition could be cleared. See? Considering the time element - that is the time that has elapsed since the fall - and the possibility that the massage was not as effective as it might have been, there may be the need of more than two treatments.
“Mr. Cayce has confidence in the manner in which Dr. Saxmann carries out the instructions given in the readings, and is anxious to work with him on [1990]‘s case. He has suggested that you get four treatments for [1990], and then we will get a check reading. Mr. Cayce knows of the financial difficulties you are having, what with the new baby [2695] and getting adjusted to your new surroundings, and wants to help in every way that he can.
