Martha’s Vineyard Time of Reading Hospital, Martha’s 3:55 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Vineyard, …, Mass.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now as we find, changes are indicated in the general physical disturbances. These are in that position or condition that, as might be indicated, there may be a great improvement or there may be the reverting to weaknesses.

4. For as we find, the disturbance arises from a used vitality, - until there is a weakening of the abilities of the system to supply energies for those activities in producing the assimilating and eliminating properties.

5. While conditions are improved in the immediate, these as we find go up and down. For as indicated by those weaknesses as arise, there is little of that vital force being carried in the system.

6. As we find, - when circumstances are such that changes may be wrought, we would apply these:

7. First begin with that which will be as a stimuli to the activity of the glandular forces of the body, purifying same from those toxic forces which have been attempted to be eliminated through the administrations to the body. We refer to Atomidine.

8. Take two minims in a glass of water, - half a glass of water, - each morning before any meal is taken, for five days.

9. Then have a thorough evacuation from the alimentary canal with the use of high colonic irrigations, but this given in hydrotherapy way and manner.

10. From the very beginning, when the Atomidine is first begun, we would also each day make neuropathic adjustments; these especially to stimulate the activity of the circulatory forces in and towards setting up drainages through alimentary canal.

11. When the colonics have been begun, keep up the neuropathic adjustments; making special adjustments and corrections then in the 4th dorsal, 9th dorsal and lumbar and sacral axis.

12. In two weeks, if the pressures have not cleared, nor the strength been gained, we would repeat the Atomidine, as well as the colonics and the adjustments.

13. Throughout the period we would keep the diets that are the more stimulating. Plenty of grapes, and fresh grape juice. Plenty of beef juices; and plenty of easily assimilated foods but full strengthening.

14. Thus we will bring better forces and influences for this body.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I wish to inform you that your diagnosis is perfect to me. I left the hospital immediately and made every arrangement to carry out your instruction. I feel so confident that I know I will recover very soon.

As you have requested to inform you the beginning of my physical ailment, I will try to describe it very briefly.

I have been working at the bench as a jeweler for the last 35 years and have occasionally been subjected to constipation, but have tried to overcome it by taking fruit, etc., and sometimes resorting to laxatives. Within the last few years my entire system began to develop a hyper-acid condition. I tried many times, but circumstances prohibited me to go to some institution wherein the whole system may have been readjusted.

About a year ago I changed my occupation, thinking that a little physical exercise may do good, but it seems that I have overworked myself doing manual labor. About three months ago, when I was all tired physically, I subjected myself to a draft which affected my chest and shoulders. I overcame this condition by applying hot towel, etc., but two weeks later the similar thing happened again, but this time occurring more stronger, and again using the same method, I obtained partial relief.

I then went to a medical institution to be examined, and after taking X-Rays, blood test, etc., they told me that I had a slight touch of bronchitis in the chest and neuritis in the shoulders because of over-exertion of my arms. I thought it would be better to go to an institution and be under the care of a doctor. I went immediately to Dr. Lust’s Health Resort at Butler, N.J., but I was rather disappointed because there were two young doctors, and they decided to place me on a milk diet which was such a detriment to my condition that it made me lose more vitality because of restless and sleepless nights.

So, I decided to leave immediately, and during the two days journey, my return to Boston and from Boston to Martha’s Vineyard Island where my brother has a summer business, due to improper food and over-exertion in the trains, I was completely exhausted - run-down.

When I reached my brother’s home, I was completely exhausted

• the gaseous condition was so terrible that it shortened my breath to extremity. My brother seeing my condition was kind of alarmed and he called the doctor. Upon examination, he advised my immediate removal to the hospital. Naturally I didn’t resist. I woke up next morning at the hospital in a half conscious condition with special nurses at my bedside. Immediately they had called heart specialists from Boston, Attleboro and one from the island, and the result of the four specialists’ consultation was that in my coronary artery in the left chest a clot of blood has been formed and that has caused the difficulty in breathing and irregularity of the heart and pulse beat.

All during this time they were injecting hyperdermic needles to stop the pain in my shoulder and another needle to stimulate the heart; one of the doctors going so far as to tell to my wife that you will have an invalid husband and that they were in doubt that I may not live a day or two.

Few days later when I gained consciousness, I realized that I was caught in a very difficult situation. And in spite of all the concentrated thoughts, a single doubt never occurred in my mind that I had heart trouble. I knew it was the effect of the hyperacidity and took the situation in hand as far as I could without violating the manner of courtesy, to release myself.

I believe that during this time my friend, Mr. […] had already communicated with you to obtain your service. Even by his information I was so happy to hear of your great work which gave me great encouragement. So, when I finally received your telegram with reference to the date and time of the reading, for which I was eagerly waiting, my brother made all the arrangement at the hospital so I would be left alone for three hours. I passed the first two hours in prayer and meditation as far as I could with my frail body - this, after staying 25 days in bed, motionless under countless drugs and injections. At the appointed hour I visualized your form and called very strongly telling you that I am here, giving my name, and kept in a relaxed and cheerful mood, as much as possible under the heavy strain of physical restlessness. It was half past four when my body instantly fell asleep and fifteen minutes later I gained consciousness. Strange as it may seem, I heard the conversation and voices, but I couldn’t bring back the thought, but I felt that I brought back confidence and encouragement.

After the appointed time, about five minutes after five which was the finishing of your reading time, that I sat up and decided to leave that institution immediately. I called my brother to take me home, and then we met quite serious resistance and warning, but I signed my release and went home. Within four days that I stayed at my brother’s home, I began to gain quickly, then I returned to my home to carry out your instruction.

It was rather difficult to find the right person to carry out the instruction, but finally I am happy to say that I have secured the service of a very kind osteopath doctor and everything is all arranged. Now I am feeling much better, except for the neuritis condition of my shoulders. Tomorrow I will get my first colonic irrigation and I expect to have a great relief.

Even now I am very grateful for your service, and I am positively sure I will regain my complete health - for I feel that I have an obligation to discharge in this world yet; and I would like very much to obtain an vocational reading. I would be very glad to hear from you again.

I will submit to you further reports when I have carried the instruction for two weeks.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

As I mentioned in my previous letter through over-working of my arms I have developed neuritis in my shoulders and the upper part of my chest which is spreading, as well as my back.

Although I see a great benefit by following your instruction, this neuritis troubles me at night when I lie down in bed and prevents my peaceful sleep which is so necessary for recuperation, and I have to wake at least twice at nights to take hot towel baths to relieve this neuritis pain. I am wondering if you can in any way help me by suggesting a means so I may get relief and have my regular sleep, for I believe if I have my sleep my recovery will be much faster.

Thank you for your very kind service and may God bless you so you may be of more service for the suffering of mankind.

P.S. This neuritis trouble that I mention began three months ago with my sickness and during the hospital life I was not feeling the pain at all because of the hyperdermic injections and other medicines, but now that I am being freed gradually from the effect of the drugs, it came back a little more severe.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Your letter of Sept. 29th received with thanks.

Though I will fill the application blank for “life reading,” I feel like writing to you more in an intimate manner as to the motive and the reason of my asking this reading.

I have been an aspirant for occult science for nearly the last 14 years and ever since I have been constantly reading and studying.

During this year I have had groups for teaching spiritual truths of the Ageless Wisdom and talked whenever invited to.

My sole motive in asking this reading is that I may get a spiritual hint to prepare myself so I may be of more efficient service for the spreading of the Truth which is Life. Although I mark ‘life reading’, I leave it entirely to you as to the nature of the reading you may give to me.

My present illness was the pure result of my strong zest to perform the obligations that I have undertaken, neglecting to take care of the physical body, and strange circumstances one after the other finally led me into the extreme verge of this physical ailment.

When in the hospital, among the specialists all hope was lost and I was left to die within a few days, and when I first gained consciousness and became aware of the concentrated thought forms around me, I made a supreme effort to gain full consciousness. And I made such an intense call to the Mighty Source of Life, humbly asking to reveal His Will, whether I shall live and perform my obligations on the physical plane or shall leave the body - and if I shall leave the body, I would joyously go to Him. After this intense prayer, I slept and when I woke up there was a tremendous urge to live, that I have obligations which are not fulfilled and I must have the courage to carry on, and I have amply. At the present time I am physically very weak, but I feel in time I will regain with your help my full strength. The worldly life has no attraction to me whatsoever, and my heart is always longing to join to Its emanating source, the Christ.

When I was reading your literature, I understood every word thoroughly, it is not strange to me, for I personally have had very strange psychic experiences - revelations; so when I ask your reading, I am not asking anything, but that you may be a channel through which my own Reality, the individual spark of God may speak to me to carry His work humbly and as an obedient servant, and that my all intellectual faculties become obedient to Its Voice.
