This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 16th day of September, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2003], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., via Miss [380].

Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C.

1. GC: You will have before you the entity, [2003], who at this time seeks mental and spiritual guidance, especially as relates to her husband, […], who was last seen September 10, 1938, at the Veterans Administration Facility, at Gulfport, Miss. and also regarding just how she may be of the greatest help to her sons, [1261] & [1442]. You will give her counsel at this time and answer the questions which she has submitted.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [2003].

3. As respecting relationships, associations or activities regarding the husband, - these are at a standstill for the present.

4. So, leave these as they are.

5. Relative to the son, or sons, - these as we find, from information that has been indicated, are in part working in those directions.

6. As to [1261] - that circumstances have arisen, or apparently lack of connections for the carrying on in some of those directions, - let those activities in the finishing be in the law as related to international relationships. These will be the more advantageous to the entity in those activities as will come about. Then there may be the completion of same in those fields of activity as we have indicated.

7. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) Just what should be my attitude regarding my husband? Would it be well to push a search for him? Just how may I help him most? (A) As has been indicated, leave as is.

9. (Q) Just how may I be of the greatest help to my son [1261]? Give as many practical suggestions as possible.

(A) Study the information as given as to the character and characteristics of the entity, and follow those suggestions as to how the entity might acquit himself respecting the weaknesses in the character; using such knowledge, thus, to aid the entity to gain the better control of self.

10. (Q) What causes the apparent antagonism between [1261] and me and how may I clear this up? (A) The feeling of resentments as arise; and if there is the studying of the characteristics as we have outlined, these will be seen.

Do not be so pessimistic. Rather be in the optimistic manner as respecting those desires and purposes of the entity.

11. (Q) Just how may I be of the greatest help to my son [1442]? Give as many practical suggestions as possible? (A) If you leave [1442] alone he’ll take care of himself!

12. (Q) As advised in a Life Reading, [1442]‘s work seems to lie in agriculture in connection with redistribution of supplies. Would it be best for me to advise him to undertake work at Georgetown where he has a a half scholarship and may take a social science course or go to Maryland University where he may begin at once with agriculture but without the scholarship help? (A) Georgetown will be the more practical.

13. (Q) Any other advice that will be of help regarding the sons at this time? (A) As has been indicated in the experiences of the sons, - study their characteristics, and adjust self to be as a help in each gaining the best from the suggestions made for improvement in same.

Analyze self, and DO NOT be selfish with either.

Let those influences that are prompting thee in thy spiritual life be the guide, ever.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I received my copy of the Reading on Monday morning, and waited to acknowledge it until I got over my disappointment, somewhat. Perhaps I expected too much, but it seemed to me that there was very little for me in the Reading - nothing comparable to what either of the boys received, or what I have seen of other readings. Another disappointment was that Miss [380] and I had planned for her to be present and I wrote her to be on hand, but I did not see her name among those present, why, I do not know. She was to supplement my questions also.

I wish I might have had more information on the subject so vital to me, or at least something concerning myself, but suppose I will have to be content.

Dear Mrs. [2003]:

I have your readings of September sixteenth before me, together with your letter of September twenty-first.

I can well understand your feelings about the reading. It is short and very much to the point. As you say, it does not go into detail a great deal, as would have the life reading. There are however, several very practical and I believe, helpful suggestions contained in it.

First, I am afraid that you are hoping perhaps unconsciously, that the reading would give you more detailed information regarding your husband. In the opening paragraph [2003-1, Par. 4] and again in answer to the question regarding him [Par. 8-A], there are definite statements indicating that you should leave this matter as it is. I know how hard it is to turn loose of something, and yet, we are all faced with necessity many times during any life. I think there are times when we reach a point in our experiences when relationships with people must be completely severed and the new choice of a life path made. You have reached such a point in your own life and this reading should but confirm and increase your will to, once and for all put this matter from your mind. It is only natural that for a moment this will bring a sense of disappointment; a sense of being defeated. This is not in fact, the situation at all. You are just beginning and the work of controlling your own thought, of day by day putting out of your mind each little thought that creeps in, will be a difficult problem. It is one that must be met however, if you are to make you life into a new pattern.

It is most difficult to make a change in mental attitude, such is required of you, without filling your mind with other types of thinking. You are most fortunate in having before you two lives that your interest and thought and help will mold to a great degree. The suggestions in the reading regarding both of your boys, are practical and significant.

You will notice the emphasis upon your study of their life readings. I hope you will go over both of them carefully and if there are any questions that I may answer for you regarding either of them, please write to me.

Here again, with the boys, you must learn to turn loose. I hope you understand what I mean by this. As you know, we see a great deal of such relationships through my father’s work. These suggestions are not my own but are based upon my interpretation of information which has been given in hundreds of cases.

I am extremely interested in seeing life readings used to practical things and I hope that you will make the most of both of these for your sons.

Please let me hear from you and know that we are intensely interested in your problem, I should say your opportunities.

Dear Dr. Cayce:

I have just received the series of articles on life readings and note your desire for a check on some of the readings already given. It is a little too soon to report on those given for [1261] as they have not been followed through, only the preliminary steps having been taken.

These two contain helpful suggestions, but as I have already told you I am greatly disappointed in mine and do not feel that any help was given me at all. I am wondering if you can give me another reading some time in place of this one, or else consider that one as a check reading on the previous two, for I certainly do not feel that I should be expected to pay $20 for that one in my circumstances. Please let me have your suggestions on this.

The main purpose of this letter is to express my regret that I have not been able to meet the installments I promised on [1442]‘s reading, but my responsibilities and obligations are more than I can care for at the present time with tuition, books, etc. However, it is ever before me and sometime you can depend on me to take care of it.

I will not be able to attend the Congress this June and shall miss coming to the Beach, but expect those days are over for us all. Not even the boys will come this year though I have not yet told the [380]‘s. I do not feel that I am entitled to be kept on your mailing list as I contribute nothing to the Association, so if you feel that my name should be taken off, I shall not object, for it costs something to send all the literature that you do, especially when no return is received.

Dear Mrs. [2003]:

Thanks for yours of the 27th. Hope when there has been sufficient time on the readings for the boys you will give us a report on same, thank you.

Am sorry indeed there was nothing helpful or definite about the last reading - just consider that as if it had never been. But know we are glad to try and be of a help whenever possible.

Sorry indeed to hear that you will probably not be here this summer - just sincerely hope that circumstances will make it possible and that we will be privileged to see you all again here this summer.

So long as you find any thing that may be helpful in the data sent from time to time, am glad for you to have same. Of course, if you do not care for it will not send same.

Dear Mrs. [2003]:

Miss [380] just gave me your address. She tells me that you are now retired, after having done a wonderful job as a mother. She was full of praise for you, saying that she did not know of anyone who had done a better job under most difficult circumstances.

In reply to my questions about the boys, she told me that she didn’t think they had followed exactly the lines as outlined in their readings, but that they both were outstanding in their school work and practical application of their abilities. She thought [1261] had gone into the Service and remained in the Service, but she wasn’t sure about [1442]

• though she knew he was doing a good job of whatever it was.

I am writing you at her suggestion, because she feels sure you will be glad to give me details as to their schooling and line of work since 1940 when we last heard from you.

What line of the Service did [1261] choose - the Army or the Navy, and in which department; that is, just what are his particular duties? I’d like to know the details, regardless of whether of not his activities coincide with or parallel those mentioned in his Life Reading.

The same detail information is needed in regard to [1442].

Thank you so much on behalf of Hugh Lynn Cayce and myself. We are trying to gather all the facts in regard to all the readings which Edgar Cayce gave. We appreciate the time and effort it will take for you to write us these details.

Dear Miss Turner:

Today I received your letter of August 29th and was glad to learn that Miss [380] had given you my name.

I will do what you ask but, since I have been so ill on several occasions, it takes me a little time to write such a comprehensive report, but I will get to it and do my best. I am very proud of my sons and what they have accomplished in life so far and it is not a chore to write about them.

In all the time which has passed we seem to have mislaid the report of the readings which Mr. Edgar Cayce gave the boys, and if you have a copy of each I would indeed appreciate having it. I too would like to make comparisons, and it would better help me to compile a suitable report.

I do not think I will ever be in Virginia Beach again, but am sure my sons will and you may be sure they will visit Miss [380] for they remember her with much love and appreciation. I remember Hugh Lynn, but cannot seem to place you.

Even though some time elapses, I will not forget and will try to give you the details that you need for comparison with the Life Readings. Is the same kind of work now done by the Association.
