This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of September, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2008], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. and Mrs. [1841] and Mr. [257].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2008].

3. Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions as prevent the better normal physical functioning. The causes of these as we find arise form disturbances which have been long producing the condition.

4. In times back there was apparently a wrench or a strain in the spinal system affecting the 6th and 7th dorsal centers; causing a lesion there.

5. This lesion, producing a hindrance in supplying nerve energy to the functioning system, has caused a slowing first in the activity through portions of the colon; that more specific in the left portion of the transverse and descending, causing a plethora condition there.

6. The reflex conditions have caused and do cause pressures that have deflected the activity in the area of the heart AND the flow of the blood from same through liver.

7. Thus we have an irregular activity there, that has in part been termed a cardiac condition when it is a reflex condition AFFECTING the cardiac plexus; as situated in a portion of the area that is deflected from cerebrospinal and sympathetic nerve system centers.

8. This slowing of the conditions causes a disturbance through the digestive forces; also the neuritic tendencies in the arms and shoulders.

9. These as we find reduced, and the normal activity brought back to the forces of the system, we will relieve both the cardiac disturbance and the poor eliminations, and remove the causes of those neuritic tendencies which exist in the system at the present time.

10. As we find, there are other minor disturbances which will also be materially aided with these changes wrought; as the nervous tendencies and temperament, the form of nervous digestion that occurs at times, the tiredness, and the great ANXIETY which has existed in the sympathetic reactions to the general system.

11. First, then:

12. We would begin with high colonic irrigations, - either under the direction of an osteopath who would reduce the conditions in the cerebrospinal system, or a sympathetic hydrotherapist working with the osteopath who would make the adjustments.

13. The first two such colonic irrigations should be at least ten days to two weeks apart. Then if it is necessary for further colonics, these would be from three to four weeks apart, and continued until there is no mucous showing in the stool from such irrigations.

14. We would not begin the osteopathic adjustments until at least the second colonic irrigation has been given, so as to reduce the tendencies for the pressures and shortness of breath. Then these adjustments would be given about twice each week, to reduce the condition existent in the dorsal areas as indicated; coordinating all of the nerves of the vagus center as well as the cervical and lumbar and lower dorsal and sacral WITH the corrections made. These should preferably be given in series; about three weeks in the first series, then a rest period of ten days, and then again another series of three to four weeks.

15. In the diets, - keep away from sweets, heavy meats or red meats, or hog meats of any nature save a little crisp bacon if such is desired.

16. Do not have foods that cause too great a quantity of fermentation, or combinations of starches with fats, for these tend to make for a clogging of the system.

17. Do these, and we will bring better conditions for this body, [2008].

19. (Q) What causes the hot spells I have, that come and go, accompanied with excessive perspiration? (A) The variation in the flow of the blood supply, as indicated, between the cardiac center and the liver area; arising, as indicated, from the condition in the colon.

20. (Q) In what condition are my organs? (A) As indicated.

Do these things that have been outlined here, being persistent with same, and we will find bettered conditions for this body.

21. (Q) Please suggest a doctor in Kansas City, Mo., who will cooperate in carrying out your suggestions and instructions for treatment. (A) Take any good osteopath that would be in sympathy with such suggestions; giving reference to those who have indicated their interest in and their activity with such suggestions.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Day before yesterday Mr. and Mrs. [2008] of Kansas City came to see me and our institution upon your recommendation.

I just want you to know we appreciate and thank you for all your good words. I examined Mrs. [2008] and your findings in your reading to me told her the facts. That was a very fine reading, I was glad to see it. I congratulate you upon the power that comes to you that makes it possible for you to do such work.

We have a young woman here, Miss [1683] who came to us through your recommendation. We have not cured her and I am not sure that we have been able to benefit her to any great extent, yet I know this, her condition was so chronic and of so many years duration that if she is cured it will take time. She seems brighter, happier, and her physical condition has improved; whether nature has power within that human being to grow back normal condition, no one can know.

Just wanted you to know of Mr. and Mrs. [2008] coming to see us and thank you.

R2. 10/16/39 EC’s letter to Dr. Hildreth:

Dr. A. G. Hildreth Still-Hildreth Osteopathic Sanitarium Macon, Mo.

Dear Dr. Hildreth;-

Thank you very much for yours of the 13th - am glad Mrs. [2008] came in to see you, hope she follows the suggestion, and get the help so many have by doing so. Wish you would get the report from Kirksville on Dr. [1885], of …, (Dr. [1885] is a friend of Dr. Richard Still [Richard H. Still, D.O.] I believe) would like to hear your opinion on that case, think Dr. [1885] got excellent results from what have been told.

Yes - Dr. Still has been kind to send me a report occasionally on Miss [1683], realized from the information she was a hard case to handle - but the information suggested she had the best opportunity to get results in Macon, and sincerely believe she has.

Thank you very much Dr. for your letter - have been looking forward for some years with the hope of meeting and talking with you in person. Am in hopes of having that pleasure in the near future.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Your nice letter came and we appreciate to the full all you say. I can’t tell you how much we appreciate your interest in our work and in osteopathy and I join you in the hope I may have the pleasure of meeting you.

It is possible my wife and I may make a trip to Florida this coming winter, and if I do we shall certainly plan to come by Virginia Beach, with but one purpose and that is to call on you. It would be a pleasure to know you personally.

As to Dr. [1885] of … having been in Kirksville, I have made inquiry but have been unable to learn anything about him from anyone here. If you would tell me more specifically what you have in mind and give me his initials I will be glad to make further inquiry when in Kirksville.

I have intended to ask you before - I would like to know just what your charges are for a psychic reading. I might be able to return your highly appreciated confidence in advising others to write you.

Your reading for Mrs. [2008] I considered very fine. My people before me ware interested in such work as you are doing.

R4. 10/24/39 EC’s letter to Dr. Hildreth:

Dear Dr. Hildreth;-

Thank you for yours of the 21st, am sending you under separate cover - some data of the work here. Each of these case reports Osteopathy was suggested in the treatment, and in each case the patient got entirely well. The little booklets explain the Assn that presents the work, as does the other tell of how it was developed. There are quite a number of Osteopaths throughout the country who have worked with the suggestions, and have gotten very fine results. Dr. Percy Woodall of Birmingham Ala., Dr. William A. Gravett of Dayton, Ohio, Dr. Frank Dobbins of N.Y. City, Dr. Lawrence Robertson also of N.Y., Dr. C. Hadden, Soden Philadelphia, Dr. Elisha T. Kirk, Media, Penn., Dr. George Shcoells - Bronxville, N.Y., Dr. M. L. Richardson, Norfolk, Va., Dr. Curtis Hudgins also of Norfolk, Va., Dr. Lula Irene Waters [Hare] of Washington D.C. All of these have handled more than one case, some hundreds, that have had suggestions through the readings. Be glad if you would care to have them tell you their experience with the work. Dr. [1885] of … is Dr. [1885]. Think it was in June or July that he was in Kirksville.

Certainly will look forward to meeting you in person - do hope you will stop by the Beach. Please let me know a few days in advance, would not like for the experience to recur that happened last fall, a Dr. [539] from …, Ill. stopped to see me and I was in N.Y. at the time.

Had the honor many years ago of meeting Dr. A. T. Still [Andrew Taylor Still, D.O.] and will never for get it.

Dear Doctor Cayce:

Mrs. [2008] the patient you so kindly referred to us at Macon came to us in the fall of 1939 with her husband and consulted Dr. Hildreth.

She did not stay as a patient and as I was not present at the consultation I am not sure what disposition was made of the case.

Unfortunately Dr. Hildreth passed away suddenly on February 21, and I have no one else from whom I can obtain this information.

Am sorry indeed to hear of the death of Dr. Hildreth. Regards Mrs. [2008] I have heard nothing further from her since her visit to Dr. Hildreth. Will investigate, and if hear any thing will be glad to let you know.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

Thanks for your letter of the 11th & also for the literature enclosed. I understand my reading is to be Wednesday afternoon Sept. 20th, 2.30 to 3.30 our time which is Central Standard. I will be here at my home, … St. in …, Mo. at that time.

The questions I wish to ask are listed herewith:

1- What caused the heart condition I have & what treatment do you advise? 2- Would an operation of any kind benefit me? 3- What is wrong with my arm & what can be done to correct it? 4- Are the hot spells I have that come & go accompanied with excessive perspiration due to the heart or some other cause? 5- In what condition are my organs? 6- What advice do you give regarding my general health? 7- Please suggest a doctor in …, Mo. who will co-operate in carrying out your suggestions and instructions for treatment.

When I talked with Mr. [257] in N.Y. he suggested I ask you to mail him a copy of my reading.

You spoke of knowing a Mrs. […] in Pittsburgh. My husband has relatives around Buffalo N.Y. but doesn’t know the one you mentioned, so they are probably not related.

I am looking forward to receiving the reading & have great faith that I will receive benefits as so many others have.
