This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of September, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2012], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by his mother, Mrs. [1663].

Born January 6, 1913, in Grand Forks, N.D. Time of Reading … Avenue, 3:45 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New York.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from present - ” - ‘37 - yes, the expansion - ‘35 - ” etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2012].

4. An Atlantean, of the first water; and one that may bring into the experience of itself and fellow-man that which may add to his weal or the woe of human experience during his sojourn, dependent upon the application of self respecting those influences which are innate and manifested in this entity.

5. One of unusual abilities, in that it is rarely interested in anything that bespeaks of other than that which may be proven by measurement, weight or figures; and yet not a materialist in the sense that the gain for power or the gain for fame is put before the abilities and welfare of self and others.

6. This phase of the urges in the entity, though, will need cultivation, in the experiences that will arise during the next five to six years, and that ideal which is ALMOST a part of the entity made to be such in its WHOLE experience.

7. As to the urges that arise, - these as we find come more from sojourns than from what may be called the astrological urges. Hence that which the entity has builded in the experiences through the earthly sojourns outweighs the innate urges from the astrological sojourns. Yet the astrological influences weigh upon the dreams or visions or hopes, - yea, even the fears of the entity.

8. There is little of sentiment, as sentiment. As a duty, as a necessity, - these become more as the latent and manifested urges.

9. Not that there has been a great number of the sojourns of the entity in the earth, but these have their influence. And as the entity has attempted in the experiences through the sojourns to give that which was and is beneficial in the experience of man, so does that latent urge make for those activities in the present experiences of the entity.

10. There have been creative forces through the astrological sojourns. Hence these are manifested in the present experience not because of the position of a planet or of the sun or stars at the time of birth, but - as may be called - being absent from a consciousness of a physical experience is to be present with that which has been the urge, the spiritual force that has carried on.

11. Thus the ability to create those things that relate to vibration, those that would have to do with harmonious inter-relation of things and conditions, of experiences as they relate one to another.

12. Hence the entity is an analyst, - of an analytical mind or temperament or tendency.

13. Jupiter, then, is the greater ruling force astrologically by the urges that arise from such a sojourn, - and these in more of the benevolent nature.

14. Do not OVERDO, or waste the strength. Then, budget rather the time for work, for recreation, for enlightenment in all its phases. Know, it isn’t all of life to live, nor yet all of death to die. Life is creative, and is the manifestation of that Energy, that oneness, which may never be WHOLLY discerned or discovered in materiality, - and yet is the basis of all motivative forces and influences in the experiences of an individual.

15. Only those who seek become aware of that which IS the motivative force of any condition, phase or stage of development in the spiritual, the mental or the material.

16. Man finds himself, then, body, mind, soul, - as representatives of a three-dimensional world; and hence his physical self, his mental self, his spiritual self is explained in three-dimensional terms only.

17. And these, - as ye seek them, ye may find them.

18. As to the appearances or sojourns of the entity in the material plane:

19. Before this we find the entity was that one who symbolized to the land of the entity’s present sojourn the ability to separate the good from the bad in cotton, as well as that which stabilized parts for moving mechanical instruments, as well as guns and ammunitions and parts for same.

20. These were the work of the entity through that experience or sojourn, - as one Whitney.

21. In the experience the entity gained and lost, - gained throughout in the desire to make for creative influences and forces in the experiences of others, without the thought of the great material gains for self. Those as were of constructive creation brought creative forces. Those as brought destructive influences brought negative forces in the experience of the entity.

22. These, as we see, are the disturbing forces which arise in the experiences of the entity in the present, - as to just what IS that relationship with things and conditions that may not become a whole part and parcel of self, and yet can be worked with, controlled or directed.

23. Hold, then, to that which IS of constructive forces. But as ye find in the analyzing of principles that go to make up things, in their relationships one to another, there are principles that are assumed or declared as being the positive and negative forces in such. So in thy spiritual relationship and thought, know: They that would know spirit just believe it is, and as they seek for some, in the same way and manner there is sought the positive and negative forces in matter, it may be found - JUST as positive and JUST as negative as all that becomes manifested in this material world!

24. For, returning to the first principle, - as there are those forces that move one within another to bring harmony, as for light or color, or sound, or motion, all of these are but the variation of movement, vibration. What is the First Cause? That from which all emanates, the SPIRIT of the force or influence itself; breaking itself upon the atomic structures about same, bringing those influences as it associates itself one with another in its varied forms of atomic structure.

25. Before that we find the entity was in the land now known as the Roman, in those periods when there were the expansions of the activities of that land; not only in the forms of power or might but in the greater basic forces that turned those peoples or lands that were subdued or conquered into lands which provided productive forces for greater constructive activities, - that were the basic forces of those influences through the periods when Julius Caesar made such conquests.

26. Much more is heard and expressed of that in the experiences of men which became as the dramatic, or in the action as the warring. But there we find the entity, as a counselor, was among those groups that were in the position to bring into the lands of northern Africa and portions of Spain (as now known) and Greece and Asia the means and manners for creating helpful forces.

27. The entity then, as Antonan, made for the analyzing of the lands and their productiveness, as to the various forms of vegetation as well as natural growth, and advised or counseled those who did such.

28. Hence in the present we find the interests of the entity as to the sources of matters or influences or forces, or metals, or every form of nature that tends to make for the divisions of lands for their productiveness of such and such conditions that supply to the needs of man as to become a part of the experience.

29. Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land, when there were the constructive forces as to the activities of the children of the Law of One, - in all of those influences during the periods when the land was being broken up.

30. We find the entity was as the leading influence for the considering of ways and means in which there would be the preserving of records, as well as ways, means and manners in which either the few or the numbers might be preserved from the destruction of the lands.

31. It would be well if this entity were to seek either of the three phases of the ways and means in which those records of the activities of individuals were preserved, - the one in the Atlantean land, that sank, which will rise and is rising again; another in the place of the records that leadeth from the Sphinx to the hall of records, in the Egyptian land; and another in the Aryan or Yucatan land, where the temple there is overshadowing same.

32. There we find the entity, in the name Oron, was as the leader of those influences to those that made for the escapes. And though the entity kept itself in the background, innately there is held the thought or feeling within the experience of the entity in the present that SOMEWHERE, somehow, there may be found that manner, that means, that way in which all of that which has BEEN may become a part of men’s experience in the IMMEDIATE, now.

33. Know, all time is one, - as is space, as is patience. Applying same in the experience of self in those directions, we may find much - if there is held that seeking for the directing by the spirit of good, and not good that it may only be wellspoken of or thought of, but Thy will, acknowledging that He IS.

34. And in that way and manner may the entity, in the application of self to those opportunities as present themselves from period to period, find the greater satisfaction, the greater harmony, the greater outlet for self through this sojourn.

35. Ready for questions.

36. (Q) What life’s work am I naturally most fitted for and talented in? (A) That which is creative in making for those things that appear NOT to be, to be used as means and manners for the preservation of life and light and understanding in ALL of its phases; or that as ye would call in the present the inventive genius.

Let the application, though, be the preservation of that which brings greater harmony in the experiences of man.

37. (Q) In what kind of work am I most happy? (A) As just indicated, in that as we have outlined; and it would be well some day to search for those records as ye CAUSED to be put there.

38. (Q) Should I marry or not and why? (A) As has been indicated, this phase of the experience will be from some angles and phases a necessity; and thus, AS such, is a part of the entity’s experience - that it may fill that necessary part of the experience that must find expression in procreative influence and activity.

As to how this will be or what will be the outcome of same depends upon the choice of the mate. Choose one born in October!

39. (Q) Will my interests, habits, and viewpoints ever settle down? Will I ever remain interested in one pursuit, say in one specialized line of work or one girl or one school of thought? (A) Why SHOULD ye? These are all ONE. That there are various phases is as the body, the mind, the soul. They are phases of the one. They are the same, and yet have their urges as arise under varied phases of circumstance, conditions, environs, that bring or arouse other phases that are NAMED - but are still a part of the one and the whole.

Follow along the lines as we have indicated, for the better conditions.

40. (Q) What is the relation between my esthetic and scientific interests? (A) These are one. The separating of same in the consciousness is not that they are at variance, but they are set apart that they may be analyzed and understood. But know that these fit together in the pattern of the whole, as is represented by the experience of a span of consciousness in a three-dimensional plane.

41. (Q) Will I become rich; do I want to? (A) To become rich for the sake of the power is one thing. To become rich that there may be the greater efforts carried forward in fields of endeavor of research or scientific undertaking is another.

These depend upon the choices that are to be made. Sufficient will be in the experience throughout this sojourn.

42. (Q) Will psychic phenomena ever, or within say 50 years, be accepted and provable on directly scientific measurements; that is on meters (instruments) and mathematics? If not, why? (A) When there is the same interest or study given to things or phases of mental and spiritual phenomena as has been and is given to the materialized or material phenomena, then it will become just as practical, as measurable, as meter-able, as any other phase of human experience.

Ye did it before! Ye used it correctly, - even though the whole world was against you: Would you again?

43. (Q) What has prevented “color organs” from becoming popular. By color organs I mean any combination of color patterns made to change in accordance with music, by mechanical or manual means. What promise has the future for this development? (A) The lack of the trained consciousness of groups or individuals sufficient to appreciate that which is manifested by such harmonious activity in the experience.

Just as has been indicated regarding spirit communication or psychic phenomena, or soul-expression. Man, in his search for those things, has found that outside of himself for the satisfying, when only that within may answer to the influences without, to produce the more harmonious forces.

R1. 10/12/39 Letter from [2012] to EC: ”…I have re-read my Reading after extended intervals as you suggested. I found it very interesting and think most of it is quite plausible.

“However, I feel that psychic phenomena must be established on a more objective basis before I can honestly accept its teachings. Not that I worship the scientific method; rather I see how hopelessly at variance the human factor is. A Hindu might give me a reading entirely different from yours; then which should I believe?

“Certainly a psychic phenomenon is SOMETHING. Then it should be just as capable of objective analysis as are cosmic rays or chlorophyll, even if such analysis necessitates new units and new meters. But why then has it not been thus analyzed and used?

“After watching religious healings and cures by faith it seems clear to me that ANY strong belief, be it in a Reading, a stone god, or a broomstick, can produce startling physical changes. From which it follows that it is the individual’s mind, not the broomstick, nor the man who supplies the broomstick, that really produces the effects. Then why does it not follow that everyone and everything that inspires belief is psychic?

“I see I am rapidly getting nowhere; so I’ll stop to avoid embarrassment…”

R2. 10/14/39 Edgar Cayce’s letter to [2012]: Thanks very much for yours of the 12th. As the years go by I hope you will find, as so many others have done, that the information in the reading becomes more and more helpful.

You are quite right - psychic information should be better measured, weighed and classified. When there is as much study given to spiritual as there is to material phenomena, I sincerely believe it will be better understood.

Thank you again for letting me hear from you. I hope you will write again from time to time as you see the information check up or miss the mark. You know I do not wish to fool myself and I certainly don’t wish to fool anyone else. The data either is or isn’t on the right track, and only the one making the application can tell that.

R3. 11/30/39 Letter from [2012]‘s mother [1663]: ”…I wanted [2012] to meet Mrs. [1472] and Mr. [1908] but the lad is now far out on the Pacific Ocean on a four months trip around the world. He has an invention in mind which he hopes will be clarified by the time he returns to … Company…”

R4. 3/29/40 Report: ”…Three representatives of the … Company met him at the pier to help him with his baggage [of things collected from the Far East] and tell him about the company plans for him. He has been placed in command of the … Laboratories…”

Dear Mrs. [1663] [[2012]‘s mother]:

Pursuant to my promise to you the day you lunched with me I have checked the horoscope of your son [2012] with the “Life Reading” given him by Edgar Cayce, and find a complete accord except in a single point. That one difference is in the advice, as given in the “Reading” concerning the advisability of his marrying a girl born in October. This will be explained as I proceed with this report.

Altho [2012] was born in the sign Capricorn, and is consequently influenced by Saturn, the ruling planet of that sign, his actual planetary ruler is Uranus, the ruling planet of Aquarius which is rising in [2012]‘s natal horoscope. He has 4 degrees of Aquarius on the Ascendant, giving his Uranus as the planet most influencing his present sojourn, and he also has Uranus on the cusp of his first house, within two degrees of his rising sign. This gives him inventive ability; and the faculty for pioneering on new fronts, and correcting antiquated ways of doing things. Uranus assures great mechanical ability when in his own sign (as it is) and also indicates occult power.

Having four Cardinal signs, and four Earth signs indicates that activity and practicality will be dominant factors in his life. The Cardinal signs indicate a driving, forceful, energetic life governed by plenty of ambition and considerable spiritual aspiration.

Four Earth signs assure practicality in all he does, - both from a professional and personal nature. He will be practical in his creative ability and inventiveness. He will be constructive and concrete. He should have an excellent sense for organization, and considerable idealism.

His chart indicates business associations with a large organization or government. The intense desire to keep his feet on the ground is indicated by his four Earth signs, and explains the question he asked Mr. Cayce re the possibility of measuring psychic forces or phenomena.

When he was born [2012] had Uranus trine to Saturn, which is a most stabilizing influence. This and other aspects in his chart indicate that he will come into a highly creative cycle in his early thirties. Uranus (his ruling planet) being in his 12th house definitely indicates laboratory work; interest and work in electricity, and the study of cosmic rays. He might easily be the channel for new inventions for voice projections or television.

Jupiter rules his 10th house, which is the house of profession, career, success and fame. As Jupiter is friendly to his ruling planet (Uranus) [2012] will unquestionably find his right work, and right place, - in other words be a round peg in a round hole, and completely satisfied in his knowledge that it is so. Uranus is semi-sextile to Jupiter, which means the power to earn money, altho money will never be his first consideration.

Also Jupiter conjuncts the moon in his chart, which is a guarantee of success as Jupiter is the planet of expansion and the Moon determines his relationship with the public and work of wide public interest.

His chart also indicates a decided gift for rapid mathematical calculation as evidenced by the conjunction of Mercury to Mars.

Neptune in his 6th house warns against overwork, and indicates tendency in this direction. In further warning of wearing himself out is the Sun in opposition to Neptune, indicating there will be many periods in his life when there will be a necessity for a great deal of rest. This planetary aspect also indicates an ability to hook-up - get in tune,

• with healing currents. It also suggests an extreme sensitivity of the stomach.

I find astrological correspondence to everything Mr. Cayce told in his “Reading”. In fact the natal chart and the Reading” check perfectly except, as I have stated, regarding his marriage. His horoscope does not indicate that it would be well for him to marry either a Libran or Scorpion (Libra is the sign of the zodiac of any one born between Sept. 21st and Oct. 21st and Scorpio from Oct. 21st to Nov. 21st). The Cayce “Reading” says it would be well for him to marry a girl born in Oct. so it might refer either to a Libran or Scorpion, altho such a reference usually means Libra. However either would be inharmonious. And the reasons are these:

In his horoscope [2012] has Venus (the planet ruling love) in Aquarius, the latter being a sign of universal and not individual love. Anyone with such an aspect would would find it hard to confine himself to one person, his affections would reach out to broad outposts; be more universal in character, and his affections house include more than one woman in a perfectly nice way. In fact it would be in a beautiful friendly way, but either a Libran or a Scorpion would never understand that, and unhappiness for both would likely result, as the comprehensive, universal character of [2012]‘s affectional outlook would be as normal and natural to him as the breath of life. If he has as a partner a woman who understands such a nature, all would be well; otherwise not.

There is another conjunction in his chart which indicates an October woman as wrong for him. He has Venus and Saturn square to each other in his chart. This indicates a great capacity for sacrificing love and happiness to his career because he would be wrapped up in the latter. This aspect also indicates that it would be well not to marry too early. He is likely to marry a woman older than himself and if he does it would be well, as she would understand him better than a younger one.

According to his natal chart the right partner for him would be a woman born between August 21st and Sept 21st; or between January 21st and February 19th. Or if he married in his own sign it would be well, especially if the girl was born the last week in Dec. His own sign is Capricorn, and any one born between Dec. 21st and Jan. 21st would come in it. His entire chart, as it relates to wife, home and marriage, - indicates he will have a very small family, if any, and that his greater satisfaction in this incarnation will come through his work and service that work proves to the universe.

This is the first time I have checked a natal horoscope with a Cayce “Reading” and have found it most interesting to do so. As I know both Mr Cayce and Hugh Lynn would like to know how they do check I am sending a copy of this letter to them. Please pardon my terrible typing. I did not want to dictate it to my secretary because of its personal nature, and I have written it in the office with many interruptions.

I am returning herewith the copy of [2012]‘s “Life Reading” which you were kind enough to let me see. Thank you for doing so.

R7. 7/18/43 Mrs. [2072]‘s letter: “When I was at the Observation Post, soon after we returned from the Beach, I came across a 1938 copy of Scribner’s Magazine with a most interesting article on Eli Whitney, which I promptly forwarded to Mrs. [1663], for I knew she would like to have it. It pointed out that few of us, if any, realize that Whitney was the father of mass production by machines, interchangeable parts and the automatic repetitive machine, for he was the first one to develop such production and machines for the making of muskets.”

R8. 6/26/56 GD’s note: Mr. [2012] and Mr. [2285]‘s mother, Mrs. [1663], has told us that all four of her sons, including [2012] and [2285] served in World War II and were unharmed.
