This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of October, 1939, in accordance with request made by the father - Mr. [1005], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ky.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.

3. As we find, there are still the effects of the upsetting of the stomach, - as indicated by the disturbance of gas as well as the rash on portions of the body.

4. In the present we find it would be well to give continuous broken doses of Castoria, with one to two drops of the Glyco-Thymoline at each feeding to prevent the intestinal infectious forces. When the Glyco-Thymoline can be detected in the stool, then discontinue a while; but continue again whenever there is the indication of gas. The Castoria would be given in broken doses, - a very little bit but often, until there is the full or perfect elimination. Then when there is the constipating effect again, give the Castoria again, see?

5. As we find, the formula carrying the Lactic Acid with the Karo would be the preferable, - if prepared in the manner as is outlined for same.

6. For the rash, we would dust same with the Stearate of Zinc Powder with Balsam.

7. These as we find would make for better conditions for the body.

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) How often should the baby be fed? At what intervals? (A) Whenever it’s necessary! This will be determined by the appetite of the body, as well as the convenience of the individual administering same. Whether it’s three hours or four hours, or two hours, depends upon the quantity that would be given. This must be altered, of course, to meet the needs and conditions which exist.

10. (Q) Any other advice regarding this body? (A) Do these and, as we find, we will make the better conditions for this body.

(GD’s note: Mrs. [578] is using the Lactic-Acid-Karo formula for her baby [1958] - which I copied for you with the last Reading - and she is getting on fine. It is the same formula used for [1208] and [1635], also [1566], according to Reading suggestions.

For [1208] the Reading suggested one to two drops of Castoria every hour or so. This was when he was about a month old, and had that terrible rash and upset stomach, - when the Reading put him on Carnation. The Reading later suggested, not so much Castoria as to make the bowels so irregular as to LOSE the effect of the food values, but as to keep eliminations natural and normal.

I would suggest that you DO NOT begin any orange juice OR cod liver oil until a Reading suggests same, no matter what the doctor might say, because this has caused serious upsets with [1958] and also [1788]. The Reading’s suggestions are that the Carnation Milk is sufficient, and no orange juice or cod liver oil is necessary under several months.

The Stearate of Zinc Powder with Balsam is put up by Johnson & Johnson, I think. If you can’t get any carrying the Balsam, you can get the druggist to add it. This was also suggested for [1208]‘s rash.

R2. 10/30/39 Mother [23]‘s letter: “Speaking of appreciation - wish you could just know how we appreciate your response to our pleas for readings for [2015]. It’s a ticklish and heart rending business getting a baby started out in life, isn’t it? We’re baffled about the Lactic Acid. At first it didn’t curdle the milk, but now it does. Which is right - Should it curdle it - or not? We bought 3 bottles of the acid - thinking there might be something wrong with the Acid - we got it from different stores. One night we mixed her formula five different times, each time it had the same effect - so we mixed it another time leaving the Acid out. The way it curdled it - it wouldn’t even pass through the nipple. What baffled us was the fact that it didn’t curdle it when we first started using it… We appreciated her Life Reading! She may be hard on [1005] when she grows a little older. We’re sorry we didn’t ask about her name. I wish we had…”

R3. 11/4/39 EC’s letter to [23]: ”…Suspect it is the temperature of the milk that causes it to curdle. Have you tried changing that? Letting it cool more, or hotter - I don’t know which - but know [943] never had any trouble [for [1208]] in that direction but once or twice, and she said that was it - the temperature when the Acid is added. Of course, you wish her to keep growing and keep fat and pudgy, but if it agrees with her, that is the main thing…”
