This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of October, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self through [2395], and [2980], recommended by [1005], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions which may be submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, the disturbances are of somewhat long standing. They have gradually grown to be more and more acute at times.

4. These arise, as we find, from a condition existent in the liver, the activity of the gall duct, and the effect this has upon the lower and of the duodenum, - as it empties into the jejunum, - in its expansion and in its contraction.

5. When there has been the opportunity (and this may be done at home, or through the direction of those about the home), we would use Castor Oil Packs over the area of the liver, gall duct and caecum areas especially. These would be kept as hot as the body can stand same; using at least three to four thicknesses of flannel, - not pouring the Castor Oil on same, but wringing out the flannel in the Castor Oil. Let these remain on the body two hours each day, for at least three days.

6. Enemas would be given to aid in the cleansing of the colon, if the poisons would be eliminated. These would be much better than a laxative or cathartic, under the existent conditions. The water for such enemas should be body- temperature, combining soda and salt with same; and use an intestinal antiseptic afterwards - in the last water, - such as Glyco-Thymoline. These should be administered each evening especially after the application of the Castor Oil Packs, - though the first two need not be high enemas nor colonic irrigations.

7. After the third day of the Castor Oil Packs, take internally half a teacup of Olive Oil, - to aid in eliminating the disturbances through the gall duct area. When this is taken, lie upon the right side, with a pillow under the liver and gall duct area, for at least an hour after this is taken, - or until the Oil has passed through those portions of the system.

8. The next day after taking the Olive Oil, have a colonic irrigation, - to cleanse all the fecal forces and the accumulations as will be eliminated through these areas by the use of the Packs.

9. Do not take heavy foods until the condition has cleared, not too much other than a liquid and semi-liquid diet.

10. After each meal take a quarter to half a teaspoonful of ALCAROID, first dissolved in a little water and then a full glass of water added.

11. These as we find would aid in bringing the bettered conditions for this body.

12. As for the other disturbances which arise from the taxation to the circulatory forces, - as related to the metabolism of the system, as well as the effect created about the activities of the kidneys, - we find that these will clear, with the clarifying of the rest of the system through those properties indicated.

13. As to whether or not it will be necessary to repeat these applications will depend upon the reaction, and how soon these are administered.

14. These as we find may bring the better forces for this body of [2018].

R1. 10/12/39 Mr. [2980]‘s letter: “In regard to the reading for [2018], first we wish to thank you. The instructions have been carried out in every detail and so far as we can see with very satisfactory results. The first Castor Oil Pack was given Monday morning and was followed by the enemas. And the treatment was repeated Tuesday and Wednesday. Today the Olive Oil was taken internally. Splendid results were gotten from this. The reading calls for a colonic irrigation tomorrow.

“Now these are the things we should like to know (Please give check reading and answer the following): After the colonic irrigation tomorrow, shall we continue enemas each night for a while or shall we stop and allow nature to assert herself? Under normal conditions the patient is not in the habit of taking purgatives. When the course of treatment is completed shall the patient be kept on liquid or semi-liquid diet? Also, how careful should we be of his diet? He is already beginning to desire toast and crackers and such. Also how are we to know whether or not to repeat these applications? In other words, what would indicate that more treatments were necessary? So far as we can judge we have had excellent results and the patient is fairly comfortable.

“Would like to ask the following questions and suggest that they not be included in body of reading as they are asked by doctor to compare with present diagnosis: What is wrong with left kidney and why does it show in present form under x-ray? Are the glands involved? If so, how, in comparison to pathologists diagnosis? Are there any malignant or tubercular conditions present in this body? If so, how can we combat same?”

P.S. “Miss [GD], please don’t include these questions and answers in the body of the reading which Mr. [2018]‘s wife will see, as they are purely of a technical nature for Dr. Haynes. Just show Mr. [2018]‘s wife the questions in the reading and type these separately.”
