GC: You will have before you the entity [2052], born Jan. 10, 1906, in New Haven, Conn. and the Life Rdg. given for him thru this channel on Dec. 1, 1939. The entity, now in his office at …, N.Y.C., seeks information, advice and guidance - in the light of that best for his mental and spiritual development - concerning the decision to be made between the two women who have influenced his life. Considering that he seems to love them both in different ways and doesn’t want to injure either one, you will advise the entity as to his choice between [S], born June 8, 1908 in …, Germany (now at …, N.Y.), and [F], born May 25, 1905, in …, Ohio (now at …, Ohio). Then you will answer the questions he submits, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the entity and the information which has been given regarding this entity through this channel; also those problems in the experience of the entity in the present regarding the relationships with the individuals […] and […].
-
In giving that as may be helpful for the entity at this time, many things - to be sure - are to be taken into consideration.
-
As the entity innately has experienced, these individuals represent a definite activity taken by the entity in its experience in the earth plane among the princes, - or the prince of his peoples in that experience in which there was allowed self-indulgence, self-gratification, owing to the beauty physically of that individual who now would appear PHYSICALLY superior to that other duty and obligation which is a part of the entity’s present experience.
-
And to allow such an influence in the present to cause the discarding, the irreparable activity, would bring not only degradation but a continued consciousness of wrongdoing, and fear would creep in. And, so far as the mental and spiritual life of the entity is concerned, it would prove degrading to the entity.
-
As regarding spiritual and MENTAL conditions, there is only ONE course for the entity, and that is to discard ANY relationships with [F] other than of a purely helpful nature from the social angle.
-
There needs to be the closer relationships with the entity whom THIS body, THIS entity so belittled in that experience in which there were the needs for the priest to disregard the laws and to stay the plague of self-indulgence among those peoples.
-
Thus, putting away that individual who caused these will be for the betterment of self, for the development of self and that individual, as well as building for those relationships which may bring spiritual, mental AND material blessings to the entity - through the closer relationship with [S] who was the companion in that experience.
-
In analyzing these conditions, - to be sure, entanglements have come about, but these must be settled within self. Just as the consciousness has caused uncertainty, so will the correct spiritual and mental decision bring harmony and peace - and give BETTER activities in the experience of this entity, [2052].
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) If I remain married to [S] how can I have children, in view of her condition? (A) By having those things corrected, that may bring about such - if this is the desire of each. There should be an agreement, a real desire between the two; not one but both must make for that desire - and live like it.
-
(Q) What will be the effect of breaking away from [F] on the one hand in so far as her future life is concerned? (A) Be better for ALL concerned. Choose. For, as was given in days of old, there is today set before thee good and evil, life and death; choose thou.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 4/10/42 GD’s ltr. to [2052]:
Dear Mr. [2052]:
Having helped prepare the questions for all three of your Readings, and having read all of your letters and written the Readings, naturally I am somewhat familiar with your problem. So you will pardon me for writing, but I feel impelled to do so.
Your problem is a very interesting one from the standpoint of our research on the law of cause and effect, according to the laws governing reincarnation. I don’t know how familiar you are with the Scripture. You may not have understood fully the significance of your incarnation when you were the husband of [S] and forsook her for [F]. Please read the 25th chapter of Numbers and you will get the complete story. Of course, [S] is not mentioned; we only know from the reading that she was your lawful wife at that time. It was against the law of Moses for the Israelites to associate with women outside of their group. You, with many others, broke that law. And, to stay the plague, the priest used you and [F] as an example, because you both were leading citizens in your own group. Just in the same manner today the court might electrocute the head of a gang of criminals as an example, to show that it means business, for the good of the whole.
Naturally, you cannot in the present be free from [S] - you have an obligation which dates back to that period when you not only thought so little of her that you belittled her in the eyes of all the people by turning to a heathen woman, but you thought so little of the laws given to Moses by God that you broke them in such a way as to become a curse to many. Even if you got a divorce in the present, you would still be tied to [S]. When a spiritual law is broken, it must be met in the spiritual realm. When a material law is broken, it must be met in the material realm. In that sojourn you broke both the material and the spiritual law. Consequently, in the present you have the opportunity to meet it in both realms - by remaining true to your material vows not only in the flesh but in the spirit. No wonder your conscience hurt you when you got the Mexican divorce. Don’t you see it would be the same always - until you have met and overcome your obligation to [S]? You asked if the Readings ever advise divorce. Yes, they do. In several instances a divorce has been advised, where the two people had either overcome what they had to work out together or else one had overcome and the other WOULD not. But first every means has to be used to make things work. I notice from your letter some years ago you spoke of [S] going through a period of seeing other men clandestinely. Can’t you understand, from the above, how that would be her natural inclination - if you were becoming cold with her? Not having been able to depend on you in that long ago period, no doubt she has felt many times the urge to defy you or to do something to hurt you - innately she must have felt this, because of the hurt you did to her long ago. These thoughts and feelings do not die, but they live on and on within us, from age to age, until we have either become so degraded as to have no conscience or else so spiritual-minded as to become one in purpose with our Creator. The dependent love which [S] holds for you is exactly what you need, - it is giving you the opportunity to make up for that other time. No matter how many virtues [F] now has, they would not long remain virtues if you were married to her; because to you both any relationship of a sexual nature would mean sin - regardless of whether you were legally married or not, because you were both put to death because of such relationship and used as an example to break up the spell of sin that was bringing plagues to the people. With [S], holding the proper attitude of love and protectiveness which you should holding the proper attitude of love and protectiveness which you should have, you could be happy - because you would know innately that you were doing the right thing, and you cold make her happy. With your attitude changed, I am sure that you can find such happiness with [S] that you have never dreamed of. I would suggest that you talk to her about the Physical Readings, and perhaps a little later she will be persuaded to get a Physical Reading to find out how she may correct her pelvic condition so as to bear children. We have had remarkable results through the Readings with such conditions.
I hope you will take this letter in the spirit with which it is sent. My desire was to clarify matters as I see them.
Sincerely, [signed] Gladys Davis
Secretary to Mr. Cayce

Miss Gladys Davis, Assoc. For Research and Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Miss Davis,
I was very grateful for Mr. Cayce’s reading and your explanation of April 10. The course of action outlined seems difficult to undertake. It is so hard to conceive of any one being able to be reincarnated and not remember the physical experiences of the past incarnation. However, I know something about the doctrine and want to learn more.
What makes the situation so difficult is that [F] is so human, so vital and idealistic, a perfect human being in every way and very loving. On the other hand [S] seems materialistic in nature primarily. I often have the feeling in conscience that if I did do everything in my power to satisfy [S] in a material way, my conscience would then feel free insofar as embarking upon a new spiritual life with one who seems more companionable spiritually and more in tune with my ideals and more understanding. However, I find that I cannot satisfy [S] even in a material way at present and that disturbs my conscience most of all. Do you think if I did my duty and performed my material obligation, I could free my spirit for new associations?
This problem has so many sides to it, and I’m so perplexed at times that my efforts in all directions seem abortive. I hate to hurt a beautiful character like [F] in all her love and hopes, when [S] at times seems so selfish. I appreciate so much your explanation and endeavor to help me. I’m now going home to read the verse from Numbers (25th Chapter) you refer to.
Please don’t hesitate to write again.
Gratefully Yours, [2052]

Mr. [2052] New York City
Dear Mr. [2052]
Some years ago, as you no doubt recall, you had a series of life-readings from Mr. Cayce with regard to your emotional problems of the time, and a difficult choice you had to make between two women.
We are now trying to bring our files up to date in the interests of research, and as we are doing a special study on karmic marital relationships, it would be extremely valuable to us to know what decision you finally came to in the matter and how it has worked out.
It would be helpful for us to know, for example:
- Have you made a clear-cut choice between the two women?
- If so, which one did you choose?
- If not, what solution have you reached?
- In either case, what is your emotional and spiritual reaction to the situation?
- Has the reading’s advice to return to your wife proved valid?
Please understand that these questions are made entirely in the interests of psychological research, and not out of any wish to pry into your personal affairs.
Naturally the whole matter will be kept, as in the past, in strictest confidence, and should we make use of the case in our forthcoming research publication, all identities will be carefully concealed.
The case is such an interesting one from the karmic point of view that it would be extremely helpful to many people. For this reason we will be very grateful to you for your co-operation in the matter.
With all best wishes, I am
Yours very sincerely,

Association For Research & Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Va. Attn. Miss Gladys Davis, Secy.
Dear Miss Davis,
Your letter of Nov. 30, 1945, received but reply has been long delayed because of current emotional problems still besetting me.
In answer to the specific questions you ask in your letter.
As to a clear cut choice between the 2 women in my life. I found that neither one was a “soul mate”, so to speak. Both were far more interested in security of self and not truly companionable. However, I am glad to say that I took part of Mr. Cayce’s advice and went back to the first one, my wife, for a while. However, I was not heedful of his advice concerning my relations with the second one, much to my regret, as I married her after receiving an invalid divorce, and have one child, who is unhappy with his mother. I did leave this woman and go back to my first wife, but am ashamed and regretful at not taking Mr. Cayce’s advice at once. I have now left my first wife as I discovered that I never truly loved her nor any other.
At last I may say that I am truly spiritually awakened to the true meaning of love. However, the experience I have had, probably part of the Karmic pattern, has left me so lonely and emotionally devastated that I have lost interest in life.
Last summer I met some one who was an “old soul” but only aged 21 as against my 39. She loved poetry and spiritual things and she idolized me as I did her from the very beginning. It was a case of soul mates and mutual worship. Perfect companionship was our mutual experience, and we became wholly lost in one another. In music, literature and art, we found the same emotional interest. Two people could not have loved each other more.
The difficulty in the situation was that this girl had the same unfortunate experience in marriage that I had had and had not agreed on final separation when she met me. On Xmas Day, she and her husband, who had recently returned from abroad, agreed to separate, and she called her mother to relay the message to me. On the same day, coincidentally, I had come to a final arrangement again with my wife upon the obtaining of a valid divorce. That night, my loved one got another painful attack of diabetes (she had it for 2 years) and had to go to the hospital. Telepathy between us continued (she was 150 miles away) and I suffered agony and prayed that God would send her to me. On Friday, Dec. 28th, she died, and my prayer was unexpectedly answered. Perhaps we violated some divine laws or were suffering from prior breach of Karmic laws. Today I have a wonderful opportunity in the legal profession but find I am unable to work. The world seems so empty. Perhaps you can interpret all this for me and tell me whether it is possible to find such happiness again.
I am unburdening my soul in this way to you, Miss Davis, as you have handwriting which is strikingly similar to that of my lost loved one. Therefore, I am curious to know what you are like and what your interests are.
Mr. Cayce said that I was a strongly emotional being. I don’t know whether astrology has anything to do with it, but my loved one was a Scorpio with Sagittarius rising & Venus in Scorpio - and likewise deeply emotional. Is it hopeless to look for any one similar?
I can’t tell you how much I miss Mr. Cayce’s work in a time of need as in the present as my soul seems lost.
With Best Wishes, [2052]
R5. 1/17/46 Gina Cerminara’s ltr. to [2052]:
Mr. [2052] New York 5, N.Y.
Dear Mr. [2052]
Your very interesting letter of January 5th was received last week, and for several reasons Miss Davis has turned it over to me: - first because she has been extremely busy, second because it was my letter under her name that you received in the first place!
You see, I have been doing research on the life-readings Mr. Cayce gave, and have just completed a book MANY MANSIONS published 1950] on the subject, to be entitled Biography Through Time and Space. It will be published some time within the next few months. The work on the first book suggested a second study to be done on karmic relationships between people.
Your case struck me as being extremely interesting, and inasmuch as I felt its interest would be enhanced if I could refer to subsequent developments, I felt the need of writing you, asking you the questions which I did. In general these follow-up letters of research are written by Miss Davis or Hugh Lynn Cayce, but since I am best acquainted with the aspects most needed for my study, it seemed best that I write these letters of inquiry.
Your reply has been most interesting and helpful, and I am deeply appreciative of your goodness in being so co-operative. It will indeed make a fascinating story - or rather, case-history in our research study. I suppose that it seems a bit heartless to you to refer to the emotional anguish of the past years as a “case-study”; but on the other hand it should be some satisfaction to you to know that there are such universal elements in your life history as to afford many other people new insight and understanding into the laws of life.
The new development in your emotional life and its unhappy conclusion is fully as interesting as a novel. I can well understand the desolation you are now experiencing. And yet at the same time I see great possibilities before you.
That life begins at 40 is not merely a catch phrase. At 39 you have, as you say, become at last spiritually awakened to the true meaning of love. This is a tremendous growth to have accomplished; and now you are finally ready to begin living in the true sense of the term. Having finally learned the true meaning of love you will finally be able to give it true expression.
Are you familiar with the AQUARIAN GOSPEL by Levi Dowling? It is a most remarkable book, and you should try to look into it some time. I would like to quote a very beautiful passage from it to you.
It is in chapter 30, which describes a scene in India when Jesus received word of the death of his father. Jesus “bowed his head in silent thought, and then he wrote; of what he wrote this is the sum:”
“My mother, noblest of all woman kind; a man just from my native land has brought me word that father is no more in flesh, and that you grieve, and are disconsolate.
“My mother, all is well; is well for father and is well for you.
“His work in this earth-round is done, and it is nobly done.
“In all the walks of life men cannot charge him with deceit, dishonesty, or wrong intent…
“Why should you weep? Tears cannot conquer grief. There is no power in grief to mend a broken heart.
“The plane of grief is idleness; the busy soul can never grieve; it has no time for grief.
“When grief comes trooping through the heart, just lose yourself; plunge deep into the ministry of love, and grief is not.
“Yours is ministry of love, and all the world is calling out for love.
“Then let the past go with the past; rise from the cares of carnal things and give your life for those who live.
“And if you lose your life in serving life you will be sure to find it in the morning sun, the evening dews, the song of bird, in flowers, and in the stars of night.
“In just a little while your problems of this earth-round will be solved; and when your sums are all worked out it will be pleasure unalloyed for you to enter wider fields of usefulness, to solve the greater problems of the soul.
“Strive, then, to be content, and I will come to you some day and bring you richer gifts than gold or precious stones.”
The grief you feel is and has been oppressive. There is a very good solution of it implied, I believe, in the above passage.
Is it hopeless, you ask, to look for anyone similar to the woman you loved and lost. I would say most definitely, no. The world is wide and there are many sensitive, beautiful souls in it. Having learned the great lesson that love is not merely self-gratification, but rather tenderness and a giving of self, your problem is in reality much simpler than you think. For you will not be seeking someone to love you, but someone on whom to lavish your love. And there are thousands of people who need love, in one way or another.
Forget about finding another woman for the time being. Start thinking about “losing your life in serving life”, as the Aquarian Gospel puts it, and strangely enough, you will discover that in doing this you will find the woman who will make your life complete. It is a principle that I have found to be infallible. When I can’t find my scissors in my desk drawer, I stop looking for it and do something else; and in the process of doing the something else, I invariably turn up the scissors… A crude analogy, but a true one. I remember reading that most people look around for happiness with the anxious impatience of a man looking for a collar button under a dresser. But happiness is a by-product of doing something else.
In answer to your questions about Miss Davis, I might tell you that her principle interest is furthering the work of the Association - and a very excellent and whole-hearted job she does of it, too. She happens to be an Aquarian with Sagittarius rising, and her personality is most charming. Whether her nature is as similar to that of your beloved as is her handwriting, I have no way of knowing.
I hope, Mr. [2052] that you will not object to my having written you. I believe most sincerely that you will be able to reintegrate yourself on a new level of understanding, with new sensitivity, poise, and strength.
Forget the past, and remember always that life is fresh and new every minute. Every minute you are creating the future.
My very best wishes to you, and again thank you for your letter. If you like, I will let you know when your history appears in printed form. Naturally all identities will be carefully concealed.
Very sincerely yours, Gina Cerminara

… Attorney at Law (Letterhead) New York
Dear Miss Cerminara,
Your very fine and spiritual letter to me of Jan. 17, 1946 is so greatly appreciated. I am going to get the “Aquarian Gospel” and read it all. Meanwhile the principles set forth concerning the appropriate activity of the developed soul in reaction to overwhelming grief are well taken and I hope I may be able to follow them.
Very sensitive and deep by nature, I have found it difficult to find similar beings with whom to associate. Altho a Capricorn, Jan. 10, 1906, I have Cancer rising, a Cancer moon, Mars and Saturn in Pisces, all feminine water signs together with the feminine earth signs of Venus in Capricorn & Jupiter in Taurus. My bereavement occurred when Saturn went over my Cancer moon Dec. 28, 1945 which it does again Mar. 14-27. My lost sweetheart was of the same sensitive and deep nature, highly imaginative, very able in writing both prose and poetry, esp. the latter, appreciative of art and music to an extent beyond anyone I ever met. She was born Nov. 3, 1923 with Scorpio rising and 3 planets in Scorpio and Saturn in Libra. Coincidentally she was a direct descendent of Lady Hamilton and might have been her reincarnation. She was also directly descended from Lord Joseph Lister, the great British surgeon. Needless to say she was very beautiful as well as talented. You will probably understand how difficult it is for one with a Cancer moon to let go, esp. under these circumstances.
All the people I meet are under air signs or have a lot of “fire”. Very few, I suppose, of the emotional and studines (?) water signs, esp. where dominant, appear very much in public. Most of them seem to be shy like myself.
However, your advice about giving is being followed more and more as my emotions recede somewhat. Eventually I may find another “old soul” who will arouse my strong protective instinct to the same degree. As you indicate there is a greater spiritual awakening, altho it has been gradually taking place in the last 4 years. I am obviously being prepared emotionally for some great work, but I am not certain yet of its exact nature. Meanwhile I shall try to concentrate on this preparation by doing for others and forgetting this search for happiness.
Please advise me when your grand work is published as I shall be a very eager reader. I can only conclude that you must be a very fine spiritual person, as was Mr. Cayce, and that you are eminently qualified to bring the results of his efforts to light.
Very Sincerely Yours, [2052]

Dear Miss Cerminara,
Your article in Mind Digest for June is very well written and enjoyable. I do hope you will write some more. I have not yet read the Aquarian Gospel, but hope to soon.
My first reading with Mr. Cayce was in October or November 1939. A second one took place in 1940, and a third I believe in April 1941. Would it be possible to get additional copies of these? I believe mine have been mislaid somewhere. I certainly would appreciate it greatly. I will pay any cost gladly in advance if so desired.
As you may have noted, I was an assistant to Mr. Cayce in a prior incarnation - as I read my first life reading - where he was a priest. It is interesting to note the points in common between our horoscopes - heavy Pisces, Capricorn & Taurus accent - with Cancer added in mine - my birth date being Jan. 10, 1906. While very sensitive and highly endowed with psychic qualities, I can’t claim any accomplishments except in my ability to advise people in their troubles, as I did with Mr. Cayce in that prior incarnation.
With my love life badly frustrated and thwarted for the karmic reasons apparently set forth in Mr. Cayce’s reading, I have accepted my fate for the time being, and enjoy trying to help others whenever possible. This seems to give me zest and strength to do even more.
Since my last letter to you, I’ve had a great deal of difficulty avoiding grief, but I now have a greater understanding of divine purpose and will.
With Best Wishes, [2052]

Dear Mr. [2052]
Thanking you for your kind words of appreciation for my article in Mind Digest Magazine. I am glad to know that you enjoyed it.
I was happy to hear from you again and to know that you have made progress in your struggle with your emotional problem. I always like to remember Kahlil Gibran’s beautiful line (you’re familiar with “The Prophet”, no doubt): “Your pain is but the breaking of the shell which encloses your understanding.” The grief which you have suffered came, like all other things in life, for some good purpose, and only the future will fully disclose what that purpose was. Your practice of helping others wherever possible will, I am sure, lead you to peace.
With regard to you question about obtaining copies of your life readings: Yes, we will be happy to have them copied for you. The price for this will be moderate, and will be computed either by the page or by the amount of time it takes to do. We have been exceedingly busy here in the past few weeks, due to our annual Congress (hence my tardy reply); but next week we shall have some additional clerical help, and by the end of next week we should have your readings ready for you.
Wishing you good fortune in all things, I am
Yours very truly, Gina Cerminara

Dear Sirs,
Thank you so much for your letters of July 25 with enclosures, including copies of my readings, which have brought home to me a renewed sense of awareness, esp. of the purpose for which an entity enters upon their material existence. It has served greatly to enrich my life and to thwart the self-indulgence and self-gratification of which I was said to be subject.

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Some time in the period between 1939 and 1943, Mr. Edgar Cayce gave me two life readings which are of great value to me. However, since I do not have them in my possession, I wonder whether it will be too much trouble for you to have one of your staff get out copies of each and send them to me. I am sorry that I do not have the exact dates.
I certainly would appreciate this very much, and if there is any expense, kindly advise me so that I may pay you.
With best wishes,
