This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of December, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self through mother - Mrs. […] new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. […], brother of Mrs. [394].
[Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. David E. Kahn.]
Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Texas.
-
HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2065].
-
Now as we find, disturbing conditions here arise from prenatal influences, - which have affected and do affect the glandular system as related to the reproductive forces in body, as well as in the circulation to the superficial portions of same; affecting the glands through the EXCESS of thyroid reaction, and a DIMINISHING of the activities through the adrenal and the effect upon pineal.
-
These as we find arise from an insidious influence of a prenatal nature.
-
These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body:
-
The blood supply indicates the disturbance in the glandular forces, especially as related to thyroid, - the activities indicated in those conditions of the growths upon portions of the body being affected by such conditions.
-
The activities as related to this, as indicated, effect the variations we have in the pulsation and as to the circulation between the upper and the lower hepatic circulation, as well as that to the heart and the lungs.
-
The activities through the nerve forces of the body have become as breaking portions, especially in the area of the vegetative nerve plexus, or from the 3rd and 4th dorsal to the upper portion of the body.
-
These as we find show reflexes in the NATURE of the disturbance finding expression IN the superficial circulation to hands, arms, and especially face, neck and head.
-
All of these, then, are arising from those disturbances indicated.
-
Applications that have been made have only been as temporary reliefs, and at the expense of some other portion of the reflex functioning system.
-
As we find, then, while it will require a little time, and patience and persistence in the application - not only the very strict reactions for portions of the system, but consistency in the mental as well as physical reactions to the disturbances - we may bring the better conditions for this body.
-
Then, first:
-
We would begin taking small quantities internally of Atomidine; one minim (drop) in half a glass of water each morning before a meal is taken. Take for five days, leave off five days, - then take again for a whole period of at least thirty days.
-
And do not rest in bed too long of a morning. Arise rather early and be active in the open air, in the early morning, as much as practical from the general weather reactions.
-
Begin also at the same time taking the VIBRATIONS from Atomidine through the low electrical forces of the Wet Cell Appliance. These would be taken each day for thirty minutes. The attachments would be made in this manner:
-
The small copper plate would be attached to the 9th dorsal plexus, while the large nickel plate (through which the vibrations of the Atomidine - commercial strength - would pass) would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus, that is, two forefingers from the navel center toward the right side. Make these attachments each day for thirty minutes, for THIRTY DAYS.
-
Then, after that period, have the Appliance recharged; THIS time taking through same the vibrations of the Chloride of Gold Solution (in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to each ounce of Distilled Water). The small copper plate would be attached to the 4th lumbar plexus, and the large nickel plate (through which the vibrations of the Gold Solution would pass) would be attached to the gall duct area, or the distance of the plate ABOVE the center to which the plate had been attached for the Atomidine vibrations. The Gold Solution would be renewed at the end of fifteen treatments, you see. Make these attachments each day for thirty minutes, for THIRTY DAYS.
-
At the same time the Gold Vibrations are begun, begin also with osteopathic corrections through those areas specifically of the lumbar and sacral center, 9th dorsal center, and from the 3rd and 4th cervical to the 6th and 7th dorsal; these being made in this manner: Begin with the lower ones first, then the 9th dorsal, then in the UPPER cervical and downward to the 5th and 6th dorsals. These would be given twice each week until twenty-six such treatments had been taken.
-
Now, the conditions through the first periods will appear to be more aggravated, - that is, the rash or the breaking on the face, the scalp and the head, these will appear more inflamed.
-
During these periods, use upon same an ointment carrying Stearate of Zinc and Cocoa Butter; a ten percent solution in two ounces of Cocoa Butter, well mixed.
-
After the first series of the osteopathic adjustments, leave off the Solutions - either being taken internally or vibratorially - and take a series of Fowler’s Solution of Arsenic. Take this in a very sincere manner, but begin with one drop in a little water each day for five days, then increase to two drops each day for five days, then increase to three drops each day for five days. Then increase to five drops each day for five days. (Note the difference from the three to five drops!) Then leave off entirely for at least two weeks. Then begin again with the one drop, increasing in the same way and manner.
-
After this second series of the Arsenic is completed, then have another series of fifteen adjustments, osteopathically made.
-
During this second series of fifteen osteopathic adjustments, take internally the one minim of Atomidine each day, and also use the Wet Cell Appliance each day carrying the Chloride of Gold Solution.
-
DO NOT use electrical vibrations for the body other than through the low Wet Cell Appliance in the manner indicated for carrying the vibrations of the medicinal properties into the system! No direct electrical current!
-
In the matter of the diet, - keep more to vegetables and fruits than so much of meats or the like. Eat all forms of vegetables, but not too much combination of such as corn, potatoes, rice or white bread, - no two of these at the same meal. Any one of these may be taken separately, occasionally, or regularly as desired, but not two of these at the same meal. Have plenty of leafy vegetables, and juices of fruits, as well as juices of vegetables, rather than meats. These should form the basis of the food values for the body.
-
Do these consistently, - we will remove the causes and correct conditions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Dear Sir:
Yours of the 26th of December received. I received the reading you sent and have given it to my son. What I know he want do is purchase a
25.00 machine nor am I in a position to. I thought when I sent the20.00 that it would be all that was necessary and that your suggestions would be such that would entail no further expense. I regret my inability to do further into this matter in fact I would prefer the return of my $20.00 since I find its only a forerunner of more expense.Sincerely, Mrs. […]

Re: 2065-1
Dear Sir;
My Mother Mrs. […] wrote the Association which you are connected with for a reading for myself. I asked her to let me write you for some information about these readings before you did this, which she would not do so I am sure that you are in no way to blame for this reading. I believe that she also wrote you and asked that you refund her money, but I told her that she could not expect you to do that and she has changed her mind about that.
I have read the results of your reading, but have not studied them as carefully as I should have, but from what I read I gathered that I will have to have some wet cell electrical equipment to take the prescribed treatments. To be perfectly frank about it I am skeptical of the results that can be obtained from taking the treatments, but thought I would write you and if you thought enough of the results that I could attain from these treatments, to send me the necessary equipment I would religiously try your prescribed treatments and if they were in any way beneficial I would pay you for the equipment and if not I would return it to you. I want you to understand, however that I do not think that you are in any way obligated to do this. The reason I am asking you to is because I am sure that you realize how hard it is to believe that cures can be accomplished by the method you use in prescribing treatments. I have been to Doctors all over the country and have spent lots of money trying to get some relief from the rash I have, but have not done so, and for that reason I am reluctant to spend any more money on a condition which I consider incurable.
Apparently you do not make or assemble the equipment that you are prescribing for my use, but I thought that possibly you may have access to the equipment so as to send it to me as I suggested. I will be glad to give you some credit references if you do desire, and if they do not check up satisfactorily I will not expect you to do as I suggest.
If you can assist me in any way I will really appreciate your co-operation as I do need relief, but I would not feel justified in spending the money for the necessary equipment without thoroughly believing in the treatments you prescribe.
Yours very truly [2065]

Mr. [2065] …, Texas
Dear Mr. [2065]
Have yours of the 15th - wish knew just what to say about this Mr. [2065], I do not blame any one for being skeptical regards a work of this kind, I know it is something that can’t normally be done, yet we have been doing this for nearly forty years now, and practically every day for the last 25 and thousands of people have and are being helped each day. How and why its works do not know, but certainly would not advise any one to even try it unless they feel some good may be had from it.
If we had any thing to do with the making of the appliances that are suggested would be glad to try it out for you if you wished it. But we haven’t and would mean an outlay of the Assn. of the Amount to try and prove something and we are not trying to prove any thing - but trying to help where ever and when ever we can. It might be possible for you to have this Co. make an appliance for you and use it and when you were through with it return it - except they are made for individual cases, each are hand made to specifications for the individual.
I know there is no need my telling you what wonderful results others have gotten with the use of similar ones made for them that you know must be true else we wouldn’t be trying to have any one try them.
But would suggest you write the Co. and have a statement from them do hope you will see your way clear to give it a try, for few if any that have been promised help haven’t gotten it if they have the suggestions a fair trial - and that goes for the entire 40 years of experience with such readings.
Hoping to be of a help
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce

Dear Mr. [2065]
Before me is a copy of your Physical Reading given by my father in December, and your letter to him under date of January 15th. I certainly appreciate your position in this matter. I can well understand why you feel skeptical about following suggestions in a Reading such as was obtained for you by your mother. It is my hope that we can work out some plan through which you will be able to follow the suggestions which have been given. We have no way of knowing the results which you may be able to obtain, except through the experience of others who have followed such information. We are undertaking a study of my father’s work through the Association, on a purely research basis. We are interested in the accuracy of the analysis of conditions described, and naturally in the results obtained in following the suggestions. You have indicated that you would like to undertake the following of the suggestions given for you, and to make a thorough test. I shall try to arrange with the Company that makes up the Appliances such as suggested for you, to send the equipment needed without cost other than shipping expenses, with the understanding that you will return this equipment as soon as you have completed your course of treatments. We shall greatly appreciate it if you will be very careful about following ALL of the suggestions given in the Reading, and if you will let us have a report on your case. As you can well understand, this is not a simple process, nor one that can be solved in a short length of time. It will require persistence on your part.
I feel that you are quite justified in making a thorough study of our Case Reports and Records before undertaking this long series of treatments. Therefore, under separate cover I am sending to you a number of Case Studies which I hope you will go over carefully. I shall also appreciate it if you will advise me of any sections of your Reading which are not entirely clear, in order that we may clarify these for you before you begin your treatments. It might be very wise for you to write Mr. […], …, Ala., who, I understand, first told you about my father’s work, and ask him to give you some of the details of his sister’s case [Mrs. [394]]. She used one of the Appliances such as suggested for you, but which carried three solutions instead of the one recommended for you, and she obtained very beneficial results.
We are sincerely undertaking a study and presentation of what we believe is an amazing psychic power. We have no way of estimating the value other than through results obtained by individuals who follow these suggestions and cooperate with us in making research studies of their individual Readings.
I trust that you will appreciate our position in this matter, and will let me hear from you.
Sincerely, Hugh Lynn Cayce, Manager [hlc:gd]

Dear Sir;
I appreciated your nice letter of Feb. 16th. and will say that I will follow your directions, and if I receive any benefit from the treatment prescribed I will be glad to pay for the appliances, and if not will return them.
I have talked with Mr. […] about his sister’s treatment and he said it was very helpful.
Before I undertake going into the prescribed treatments I expect to consult my local physician about the treatment. Dr. W. H. Bennett who is an M.D. as well as an Osteopath is the only Osteopathic practitioner in this City and I expect to see him when I begin the treatments.
If I receive the equipment I will write you if there is anything I don’t understand before I begin the treatments.
Yours sincerely [2065]

Dear Sir;
Since I last wrote you I have cleared up completely. I do not know whether this is going to be a permanent cure or not. I have not used the device sent me by the Home Remedies Co. and would like to know whether or not they will accept the return of this equipment which I have not unpacked. I would be more than glad to pay them for their trouble and also any loss that they may sustain in making up this equipment, that is within reason, as I am sure that it was mailed to me with the idea of helping me. I would appreciate your finding out about this for me as I have never had any correspondence with that company.
I received your last letter with the folder concerning the medicine, and found it interesting as well as instructive.
I do appreciate the interest you have taken in me and also your promptness in handling my correspondence.
Yours sincerely

Dear Mr. [2065]
I am very happy to learn that your condition has cleared up. I sincerely hope that this is a permanent cure and that you will have no further trouble. I understand from your reading, and correspondence that this was a very unusual condition and a very troublesome one. As matters now stand, the company making the appliance is not at any loss and the equipment can be returned to them and and used in some other case. May I suggest, however, that you wait for at least a couple of weeks, or longer if you wish, in order to see whether the condition is going to return.
May I warn you not to take any of the treatment in the reading unless you follow through with all of it at one time.
I regret the delay in the handling of this matter for you and sincerely hope that you will not be disturbed further by the condition.
Sincerely yours, Hugh Lynn Cayce [HLC:EM]

Dear Mr. [2065]
In your letter of July 9th 1940 you wrote that your condition had cleared completely. I sincerely hope that the cure has been a permanent one.
I suggested that you keep the Wet Cell Appliance for a few weeks in order to see whether the condition or cure was permanent.
I am in need of a Wet Cell Appliance and would glad to take care of the one sent you by the Home Remedies Company. I am in touch with them, and will make the necessary adjustments.
Thanking you for your immediate attention, I am

Gentlemen:
On December 20, 1939 I had a reading by Mr. Cayce. At the time I was unable to comply with the instructions given by Mr. Cayce due to the fact that an Osteopath is not immediately available, and due to the fact that I was unable to properly adjust the necessary equipment, for the treatments.
There is a possibility that I will be in the neighborhood of Virginia Beach soon and I thought that I could possibly see you in regard to bringing my reading up to date and also getting treatment started and also possibly getting the name of some Osteopath near here that could give me the necessary treatments. If you can give me any information in regard to this I will appreciate it.
I have been in the Army for over four years which is the reason you have not heard from me for such a long period of time.
Sincerely [2065]

Dear Sir:
Yours of the 9th inst. received. My son’s trouble is physical. He has a scaley rash on his head - it seems never to entirely heal. Its rather deep rooted also. Then his hair on his face - curls into his face which becomes infected. I’m particularly anxious for his head to heal as its very itchey and he scratches those scaley rashes as soon as he sits down to rest. He’s a nervous type - becomes easily irritable. Have had him to doctors but they have done him no good. They think its allergy so he’s had all sorts of tests and abstains from much variety of foods. He gets billious [bilious] often. He looks well - physically but I know that itch in his head and the continually picking those curled in hairs doesn’t help his nerves any. He gets very easily irritated.
I know he’ll be at my house … between eight and nine A.M. at which time I will concentrate on your helping my son - which will be on Dec. 20th. Hoping you can do him good.
Very sincerely, Mrs. […]
The time above stated is the only reliable time I can state for him as I can do very little about insisting on anything with him. You understand that this reading is entirely for my son [2065], … Texas.
8 A.M. to 9 A.M. Dec. 20th. My son is 31 years old - single.
