GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2066].
-
Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions which have prevented, do prevent, the normal reaction through the activities of the organs of the body; thus bringing disturbing conditions that have at times been aided, but the sources, the causes of the conditions have not been eliminated.
-
Thus there are recurrent conditions which arise.
-
These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [2066] we are speaking of:
-
In the blood supply, - this we find indicates the greater disturbance being in the assimilating system. Hence the character of the resistances carried in the blood stream, the unbalanced condition that is exhibited at times in the metabolism, as well as MORE in the katabolism of the system, - the irregularity at times of the pulsation, the variation in temperatures in portions of the body; as the coldness (as shown in the present) in the lower extremities, with a much higher temperature indicated in the trunk portion, or even in the mouth or the throat of this body.
-
In the nervous system, - these we find are in the present becoming more involved in the reflexes of the disturbing conditions; as indicated in the twitching in parts of the face, - as to the eyelids, the mouth, the chin, and to various portions of the body.
-
This indicates the causes from the first conditions as produced this, - an excess of a combination of calomel, or of the mercury products, upon the system, which caused a caking in a portion of the stomach, close to the pyloric center. Later the effects of this have been caused through the duodenum, and then the involving of the conditions as related to the gall duct, and the folds about same have brought on reflexes to the secondary cardiac plexus center, and then those areas just between the shoulders and a little below have become centers from which at times acute pains radiate to the association between the solar plexus, - or the spinal cord itself, and reflexes to the sympathetic nervous system that controls the sensory forces and reflexes from the suggestive forces to the body itself.
-
These are becoming now more and more involved.
-
As to the activity of these upon the organs, - many of these as we find, as may be indicated from that given, while they have not become in themselves wholly diseased, they have become so weakened that their activity is not normal, - neither are their reflexes upon the rest of the system of a normal nature.
-
These specifically involve the activity of the duodenum in its action towards the production of a balance between the acids and alkalines, or in the chyle itself in its variations; and the production of gas at times through the system. This is indicated by conditions existent in the alimentary canal, both in the jejunum and in the colon itself.
-
Also the activity of the liver has been weakened by these, so that there are indications of an engorgement in the right lobe of the liver. This may be indicated by the examinations of same showing somewhat a fullness particularly over that area just below the sternum and the lower portion of the last ribs that are connected with the sternum AND the spine.
-
Then, in making applications for the helpful influence, - as this has been of long standing, it will require that there be applications made that will not only relieve the distresses and disturbances which exist, but that will alleviate and prevent the causes of this in the hardening or caking in that portion of the stomach itself.
-
Thus it will require pains, patience and persistence, and an alteration from time to time in the mode or manner of applications that are to be made.
-
First, as we find, - we would begin with the Castor Oil packs. These should be placed over a portion of the stomach, the liver AND the gall duct area. These should be applied for at least an hour each day, for at least five days.
-
After same take a tablespoonful of pure Olive Oil.
-
The diets during such periods of application should be principally of liquid and semi-liquid foods, though those that stimulate the activities, to be sure.
-
After this, then take one drop of Atomidine in half a glass of water each morning - before any meal is taken for five days.
-
Then begin again with the Castor Oil packs.
-
But when the second series of the packs has been begun, we would then have the osteopathic stimulation twice a week to those areas specifically in the vegetative nerve system, - or from the 6th dorsal center to the 1st cervical. These we would give until there are at least ten such treatments given.
-
And the Castor Oil packs, during THIS period, would ONLY be given on the evenings preceding the osteopathic adjustments, see?
-
After the completing of the ten, we would then give further instructions.
-
The use of any digestant, - as BiSoDol or the Alcaroid, - will be most helpful, if taken in small quantities after each meal; that is, about a quarter to a half teaspoonful, first dissolved in a little water, and then at least a full glass of water taken with same, or the glass filled, and then half a glass more taken afterward.
-
Do these, - and then when these have been applied, we would give those changes necessary, and further instructions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 12/29/39 [2066]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce-
Thank you for your note enquiring about my receipt of the report of your reading - I felt so really ill that I procrastinated about acknowledging it.
Today, after two days in bed and two applications of the castor oil compresses I feel very much better and much encouraged.
So I will give you the history of my case which you asked for. I am sorry I do not type but I will make it as legible as possible!
With kind regards and best wishes for a happy New Year I am.
Sincerely, [2066]
[letter continues with case history]
…, New York
During my childhood I had the usual diseases, measles, chicken pox, malaria, etc. But tonsillitis which I had frequently was the most serious illness and heavy chest colds. At 18 years I had whopping cough.
During my teens I was not well for any length of time. I was always being taken out of school and I remember having a lot of indigestion.
When I was twenty three in Germany I remember suffering a great deal from attacks of indigestion and great depression and a feeling of heaviness. However I always seemed to get over these things and have a few years of quite good health - when I was thirty hears I became quite ill. I got very sick & could not eat. The diagnosis was floating kidney. I managed to get along fairly well until 1916 when I was again ill and finally had a major operation.
The purpose of the operation was to relieve prolapses and to tie up the right kidney. I cannot give the exact details but some portion of the intestine was removed also. I think the part that was taken out was at the lower right side. This was done in order to relieve a kink in the intestines at the upper left side. During this same winter I had my tonsils removed.
The result was not a success. It took me three years to recover.
I owe the health I have had since then to the rhythmic exercise I did with Miss Ruth Doing [?] of New York City. In fact her work saved me from another operation which was advised by a specialist. From 1920 to 1928 I taught (Miss Doing’s work) in Miss Doing’s school in several other schools. In 1928 I was ill again for about a year.
Since then I have had pretty fair health until early last spring the indigestion became more or less chronic and the twitching in the right side of my face began slightly. Lately the condition has been just as you describe in the reading.
For many years my physician has given me thyroid. During the winter of 1938 I stopped the thyroid.
This last summer I consulted another doctor who diagnosed my condition as resulting from a tubercular poison which had never left the system.
But as I have been getting more and more uncomfortable and my face gets worse, I came to you.
Dr. Frank Dobbins 551 5th Ave., New York City is my osteopath. [2066]
