GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures, giving the cause of the existing conditions; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [2067]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there are the effects of some acute conditions that have recently arisen with the body.
-
These were produced from those properties in water to purify same. Owing to the chemical reaction, this was not wholly effective universally upon the populace.
-
To all tended towards anemia of any form, as this body, the conditions became more involved than in others.
-
To be sure, all anemia is not of the same form. With this body it produced an upsetting of the assimilating system, because of its tendency to dry the alimentary canal - or, in the attempt to meet the needs of the conditions, the using up of the quantity of lymph circulation.
-
Hence this drying, tingling sensation through portions of the body; nausea, weakness, headaches, and the concurrent conditions as would arise from same.
-
We find that conditions are somewhat improved, because of the character of liquids and of those properties that have been given to maintain a balance.
-
Now, we would take regularly - for the body - the combinations of Vitamins A, B-1 and D, - especially in that form prepared by Grove Laboratories. These are not expensive and they ARE efficient. But take ONLY one a day.
-
Then DO have, or do take - to work with these, the pure beef juice. This may be prepared for two days at a time, - that is, for taking it the day it is made AND the next day, but DO NOT keep it beyond that time - make it fresh. Take a tablespoonful of morning and a tablespoonful of evening; just before going to work and just after returning from work. But PLEASE don’t gulp it! else it will be more harmful than beneficial! Take at least five minutes to sip that quantity, slowly. Season to taste. And keep this up for some time.
-
Keep up good eliminations, - this by exercises as well as by eating plenty of oatmeal, this taken of evening before retiring as well as for the morning meal; though alter the morning meal at times with citrus fruits.
-
Plenty of all vegetables, well cooked; cabbage, potatoes, beans, celery, lettuce. All of these should form a part of the diet.
-
Do these and we will find improvement.
-
Corrections have been made in the water, and unless there are mishaps again in the adding of the properties to water, it should not reoccur.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Will I be able to overcome this condition and keep my job? (A) If you’ll do as has been indicated! If you half do it and then are still pessimistic about it, no! Remember the word of the psalmist, “That which I hated has come upon me.”
-
(Q) For some time before this trouble, I have had splitting headaches - I awake with them. What is the cause? (A) These have come from the strain upon the system by the lack of vital energies, and the calling upon the whole system for the better energizing forces. As indicated, do these things; being persistent and consistent, and we will find we will overcome.
These are opportunities; don’t balk at them!
-
(Q) Any further advice? (A) Do these things, and live - in thy dealings with others - as ye would seek that the Creative Influence or Force deal with thee.
-
We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Thank you very much for the re-check physical reading. I am especially glad to know the cause of our illnesses here, for many of the strongest were smitten down. The water seems to be all right now, and most of us have fairly well recovered except for pains in kidneys and a few sore spots elsewhere.
The weather down here is nice now, after many hard rains. It is a delight to be away from the intense cold and I am grateful to God for all the opportunities he gives us. I am trying to do the best I can to serve in every place He puts me. I am busy seventeen hours a day. There is a great wave of spirituality going over the world at the present time - it strikes in spots, but we see it in new books just out. Sorokin’s, The Crisis of Our Time is such a book - written by a Harvard Professor but filled with spirituality and pleasing for a return to the Sermon on the Mount and the spiritual values. He says the cause of all our trouble is our dependence upon our senses, upon materialism and the neglecting of the intuitive, the spiritual side of life. The youngsters here are getting it taught to them in big chunks and are seeing its truth. There is much hope for the future when people go back to God, to the Bible, to prayer, and the intuitive powers of the mind and soul.
I received your memorandum about prayer. I will be glad to follow directions every day for your work and the greater spiritualization of the entire world, as far as any of us can help.
R2. 4/6/42 Miss [1387]‘s letter:
I Had a letter from [2067] last week and she is going to be out of a job again in June. She says they are going to replace her with a MAN publicity agent to do her teaching in English and try to get students into the school. Sounds funny to me - they are replacing MEN with women not visa [vice?] versa. I would bet a cookie she has been talking this psychic stuff again after all the warnings.
R3. 6/3/42 Mrs. [1472]‘s letter to Mrs. [2174]:
Dr. [2067] was my guest for lunch today. She, too, is in educational work, having just finished a year as Professor of English at College, in South Carolina. Dr. [2067] is a Doctor of Philosophy, and has several other scholastic degrees. Because of her great interest in Edgar Cayce and his work she has had to combat considerable Southern prejudice, and does not want to teach again in any school so bound by theological bigotry as those in which she has been teaching. Her Cayce “Life Reading” [2067-1] makes me feel she might be an ideal teacher for your … School, as she has a highly evolved sense of spiritual interpretation. I suggested that she write to you, so I think you will be hearing from her. Should you have any vacancy on your faculty for which she is suited I believe you would find her not only scholastically capable, but sharing your own concepts of the evolving needs of education. Dr. [2067] has a summer place near …, New Hampshire, some fifty miles from … and will be there in a few days I judge.
R4. 7/18/42 Dr. [2067] obtained another Physical Reading - See 2067-10.

B1. 1/25/42 [2067]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
How are you getting along? I remember you in prayer daily, and as I wrote will be glad to cooperate in the plans you may have in the future.
I am writing to ask you advice about a matter. A week ago some fifty people here in the college, including several teachers, were stricken down with what was thought to be ptomaine or lead poisoning, or possibly some poisoning in the water. We had terrible headaches, stomach aches, vomiting, diarrhea, gas, high fever and delirium in many cases - soreness all over, great weakness. Some now seem to be recovering - some who thought they were a little better are having relapses of the same thing. My temperature was nearly normal yesterday, but today it has started up again and the pains in the stomach are terrible. We eat very little. The doctors and authorities don’t know what is the cause of the poisoning - they agree it is some kind of poisoning. There is no provision made for any care of teachers here, and not much for students - we are a suffering bunch, with very little hope of getting better - because we do not know the cause. We have to drink the water. We are hearing that there are some people in Spartanburg and in Charlotte that are suffering likewise. We have decided it is not ptomaine or intestinal flu.
Will you have a minute some time soon in with your other physical rechecks, to recheck on my stomach and help us here with our great trouble? If I can find out what the trouble is, I can help the others. I have been quite well until last week. We have to work all the time, so I crawl about as best I can - it is examination time here and we have to keep on with our duties as long as we live and it is possible to move around. I have been well until this past week, I am thankful to say. I am here at the college all the time. My room is number … in the new dormitory , my office is number …, and I teach in … Hall, rooms … The questions I would want help with would be the following:
- What is the cause of my illness? The water, the food, germs, or what?
- What treatment shall I use?
- Will I be able to overcome this condition and keep my job?
- Ought I to leave the South to save my life?
- Are there any authorities (government) that can discover the cause of the illness which affects many but not all?
- For some time before this trouble, I have had splitting headaches - I awake with them - what is the cause? (Poor glasses, overwork, head too low in bed, or what?) If you are able to help me, dear friend, at this time of sore need I shall appreciate it very much. I feel the situations to be hopeless as it is - nobody but the ill seem to care and they are too weak to do anything about it.
Regards to all
B2. 1/30/42 “I have been sick for two weeks now. It seems to be a new war germ and hard to get rid of - it attacks the stomach with terrible pains.”
