This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of February, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self through Miss [1522] Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [2081], N.Y.C. And, in the light of the information given her thru this channel of January 17, 1940, you will answer the questions she has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [2081]; with the suggestions and information which we have indicated for this body.

3. Ready for questions.

4. (Q) When is the time to seek a publisher for my novel, Scarlet Waves, a story based on reincarnation? (A) This is a very good time, and as we find will be best presented through an agent. There are those who represent or present such to publishers, and are in the position to recognize abilities as well as to make suggestions when necessary for changes.

As we find, Dodd, Mead would be very good publishers to be considered; and they would consider such as this, with some minor changes in the draft.

5. (Q) Any suggestions as to what agent would be best? (A) This should be sought for self; for this should be an activity where there may be some cooperation, and some feeling of respect for the abilities one of the other.

6. (Q) Have my present physical difficulties any connection with an accident that occurred many years ago? (A) Only in so much as the mind allows self to associate same with the accident. For, as we have indicated, the body renews itself according to the mental attitude it holds toward ideals, and in the light of the application of relationships to others. And this applies as well as the relationships to self.

As we find, not directly connected.

7. (Q) What is the best treatment for these difficulties? (A) This should be approached better through wholly the physical reaction; but as we find the general massage would be the better.

8. (Q) Is any entity, living or dead, maliciously attempting to put obstacles in my way? (A) Only so far as resentments are held by the self towards others, as has been indicated. And if such as cause hate, malice, jealously, fear and doubt, are removed from the own mind towards others, no influence without or within may be of a detrimental force to self; so long as self will surround self with the thought and the ability of the Christ Consciousness, and then practise same in its dealings with its fellow man.

No need to proclaim it alone, - but live same, daily.

I enclose one of her letters and her recent acknowledgement, which will give you some light on what she has been through. I would like the Jan. 4th returned sometime with any comments you care to make. Again with many thanks.

Dear Miss [1522]:

Thank you for yours of 20th enclosing letter from Miss [2081], am sure she has suffered much - personally feel - more tan[than] put into words why the character of reading was given her first - she needs that most and with out it - nothing else matters - O I know that is only my personal opinion think tho you will see that - if you already haven’t.

May the very best be hers.

Dear Miss Davis:

I ask your pardon for my belated reply to your friendly and comprehensive letter of April 4th. My typewriter went on strike, and although the repair man didn’t also go on strike he took time in coming that suited him, not me. As it is, the typing looks slightly intoxicated, but at least you can read it. And I had my doubts about a handwritten letter.

It is pleasant to know that you are also a friend of both Miss [350] and Miss [1522]. I’ve known [350] for years, as years go. Both she and Miss [1522 are unusual persons, and remarkable friends to have. I was in Washington, D.C. at the time of Miss [1522]‘s death, had been there for several months, assisting a man who was doing research in the Congressional Library. We were both extremely busy, and I hardly had time to look at the daily papers, and never bought on myself until this day in September. And there, looking out at me from the briefer death notices was, “Entered into Life, [1522].” I am sure that was the way she wanted it worded, for she looked forward joyfully to the going. But to me it was a shock. I had seen her in July when I cam back to New York for a week. I knew that she had high blood pressure and did not want the doctor for whom she worked to know. Aside from that, she seemed well. I’ve missed her, and still miss her. She did a great deal for me.

Thank you for the detailed information you took time to give me. It gives me a remarkably clear idea of the situation. I’m still interested, but not, I decide after thinking the matter over carefully, for the summer. I can hardly stand Northern heat, and I think it would be unwise to take on Southern heat, although I am aware that Virginia Beach is undoubtedly cooled by ocean breezes. But I’m holding it in mind when we have passed through the summer heat. Miss [350] is so enthusiastic about VB that she kindles a response in me.
