Time of Reading Virginia Beach, 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Virginia.

  1. GC: You will have before you Atlantic University, the President and Trustees of same, and especially certain prospective members of the faculty of this institution. You will give information concerning the best method of selecting the members of the faculty and will answer such questions as you will be asked concerning certain individuals who are now under consideration as possible instructors in the institution.

  2. EC: Yes. In the selection of individuals to act in the capacity of the institution with the tentative policies as are TO be instituted in same, would be WELL that the President - or those CHOOSING such ones - interview personally those that are to be considered, and their qualifications as related to the conduct of the classes or that portion of the whole as is to be conducted by that individual, and SEE that there is at least the tentative cooperation of the said individual WITH those policies, WITH those conditions as has been given as necessary FOR each to be in a position to fill such a place; knowing that each must be well-grounded in the fact that it is service to be RENDERED first and foremost, before consideration of the wherewithal or the MONETARY conditions, see? And, as has been suggested, none should be QUALIFIED until they know, from President AND some of the Trustees - or the Trustees as a body - OF that policy.

  3. (Q) Miss A. Brooks Johnson, of Portsmouth, Va., is being considered for the position of instructor in Art. Please give suggestions as to her qualifications and the lines which she will be particularly adapted to teach. (A) Those in that of the more COMMERCIAL application of those phases of the work, would be that one best adapted to and for the labors of THIS body respecting same.

  4. (Q) Miss Kathleen Graham is being considered for the position of Instructor in painting and assistant to Mr. E. M. Silvette. Please indicate whether she has decided talent in this direction. Is this the best thing for her personally to do, or should she follow some other line of work in this or some other locality? (A) The abilities as assistant instructor are evidenced IN this body, and the abilities OF the body. As to whether this would be the better field FOR the operations OF the body, THIS must be determined by the body’s attitude TOWARD that as is being attempted to be done in this channel.
