This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home in Pinewood on Lake Drive, Va. Beach, Va., this 9th day of May, 1932, in accordance with request made by her brother-in-law, Mr. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [257].

Pavilion Room 531, Time of Reading Presbyterian Hospital, 3:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. (under Dr. Werner David’s care), Chicago, Ill. (Physical & Mental Suggestion)

1. EC: We have those conditions as surround this body. As we find, these are to prove very severe, and a taxing of all the physical attributes of the body, as well as requiring as near as will be possible - an exercising of the mental towards constructive forces, if there would be brought the closer association of the spiritual being with this present abode.

2. While these may require many efforts, if it is possible to get a response, so that there is a sincere desire on the part of the mental being, to wish, desire, and to DEMAND that there be a continuation of the experience in the present, resuscitating forces may be added in the physical so as to bring about an awakening towards a nominalcy.

3. The operative forces under which the body still labors were well advised, as we find, that there might be a cutting off of the establishing of destructive forces within the living organism, that had begun to manifest themselves in the structural forces, and in the portions of the system as were apparent.

4. As to the causes of these, as WE find, from infectious forces from broken cellular tissue, as produceed by those of an external nature, as well as the mental attitude that was gradually builded by the body.

5. As to those ministrations that are being given, we would not alter these - save as to add that which would induce a better oxidization, or releasing more oxygen; for there would be the necessary elements in same that resuscitating forces may be enlivened to that degree as to bring about a better channel through which the mental and spiritual forces may keep the equilibrium between the physical forces and that which makes for life itself in a human or material body.

6. These, as we find, may be added in small quantities of the animated or carbon ash, with the use of the ultra-violet with same. This, to be sure, will be found then necessary to add to those applications for a more normal carrying on of the life forces in the blood stream itself, and lessening the stress that is being made on the portions of the body in the functioning of the organs of the circulatory system, as related both to the heart and respiratory system, as well as the organs that make for the clarification and the oxidization of used or impelling forces that are active in resuscitation of life itself in a physical body.

7. These, then - the ash, would be given once each day, one-eighth grain in water - preferably carbonated water, or half and half; that is, half plain and half carbonated, or a tablespoonful of each and the eighth grain put either in the water or on the tongue of the body.

8. Every other day we would apply the ultra-violet ray to the solar plexus area, in the cerebro-spinal system, at least thirty minutes (not longer) after the dosage of the ash has been given.

9. The rest of the applications, the care and nursing that has been had and that is being ministered, these we would keep. This alone we would add.

10. As for that which will awaken the mental reactions, these - as is seen, it is necessary that there be the resuscitating forces awakened in the very BEST of conditions, and these may be done most by those who have caused, or may have reason for those causes of bringing about a reaction, in some outside influences that have had to do with the experience of the body. These we would do.

11. In the matter of the diet - in the matter of those things that will make for the resuscitating influences in and about the body, these we would alter very little, if any, until at least there is that resuscitation begun which will make for a more anxiousness in the physical, in the mental, to combine their usage in the present experience.

13. (Q) Please explain more clearly how to awaken the mental. (A) Those that are applying know! They know the surroundings and the conditions! They do not wish them paraded!

14. (Q) How long has this condition been present? (A) The condition from which it is suffering at present has only been since it became acute, and necessary for the conditions to be brought about - for the effects of the operation is a portion of that from which it is suffering in the present. That is known! It has been a growth since those influences from the outside brought the breaking up of the cell forces, as has been given. Two and a half years.

Do this as we have outlined. Then we may aid in giving that which will be helpful in the future.

15. We are through for the present.

R1. 5/9/32 EC’s letter: “We are enclosing a copy of the information which was gotten this afternoon. As I did not feel that I could explain it well enough over the phone, I am mailing it to you via Air Mail, Special Delivery and wiring you to that effect.

“I hope this info. will be of great benefit to you, and I would like very much for you to let me hear from you regarding it.

“As indicated at the bottom of reading, you will be able to obtain the ash from Mr. Bradley, who has been preparing it since it was first given. The ash is made up from a formula given in a reading, and has proven most helpful wherever it has been suggested. I hope you will be able to induce the physician in charge to at least give it a fair trial. Always the ash has been suggested to be used in cooperation with the ultra violet, as this light seems to make the ash more active and releases it more evenly through the system. Mr. [257] can give you full information about this preparation, as he has had years of experience with it. [In his mother’s case - see [325] of series]…”

R2. 10/14/32 Brother-in-law’s letter to EC: “I am very desirous of knowing whether or not, through you, your organization would be able to aid me in a matter appertaining to my business. I am not particularly versed as to the procedure necessary, and I would deem it a favor if you would be good enough to advise me just how to proceed.

“If you will be good enough to advise me, I will be, indeed, appreciative, and will proceed in the manner which you outline.”

R3. 10/18/32 EC’s letter: “In reply to yours of the 14th, I wish it were possible for me to talk this over with you in person. It is very hard sometimes to give in a letter everything an individual should know concerning such information, especially regarding business associations.

“Yes, there are many individuals whom I am sure get help and aid from these sources about their business. There are many more to whom such information has meant very little. Now, why the difference? I believe it is because the information is from the source it is, and we attempt to explain a material situation through information of a spiritual nature concerning mental and material conditions. We are continually informed that there are three phases to man’s existence; his spiritual life, his mental life, and his material life. The spiritual life has its one inception in Good; the mental life is either predominated for good or evil, according to the will of the individual; while the material life is the result of that application. Now, if we attempt to explain even material situations spiritually given, we must take all other conditions into consideration when we make the application in our lives.

“Should you decide to have such information, I hope that we may be able to give that which you may apply in your own experience to be of a great deal of help to you. For such an appointment it is necessary that we have your full cooperation during the time the reading is to be given; that is, we must have your exact address at the hour of the appointment, and it is necessary that you submit questions, putting them as definitely as if you were consulting an attorney or a friend in whom you had great faith and confidence. This appointment may be made the latter part of next week, if we hear from you at once. I hope that I have not complicated the matter for you, but that I have given the idea so that with the information before you, you will be able to make a practical use of it; for we recognize the fact that no matter how wonderful such information may be, unless it is practical to the individual it isn’t worth very much. Most of it, we find, is just plain common sense, but oftentimes it deals with situations from the inception and thought of individuals’ comparisons, which is from the spiritual source, or again there will be those questions that must be settled by individuals themselves, as to what they will do about such and such associations.

B1. 5/7/32 Brother-in-law’s letter, via Mr. [257] who helped him prepare the questions: “Will you kindly answer these questions after the specific physical and mental reading has been given.

-What caused the present condition of the patient? -How long has this condition been present? -Have the doctors taken proper action to insure full recovery of the patient? -What precautions should doctors be requested to take to insure absolute return to normalcy of the body? -Do we need the advice of any other physicians? -What is the diagnosis or the name of the condition? -What is the proper diet for the body? -Are any medicines necessary for the body and what is advised? -Has the operation been successful and will the patient recover? -Is there any need of further surgery or medication? -What suggestions can be made to the mental body to aid in its quick and full recovery? -How long will it take the body to recover its normal condition? -What warnings should the doctors and the patient have at this time?
