[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:45 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New York. (Physical, Mental & Spiritual, with suggestions and advice for betterment of all, and questions)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [2099]. Now, we find there are disturbances in the mental and physical conditions of the body. These, as we find, are of a subtle nature, and involve the glands of the body, as well as the organs, with the mental distribution of the body. In the activities, these - as we find - have been brought on by conditions as are, and were, latent in the innate forces of the ENTITY, and while the physical conditions may be aided, or a development for the entity - a task for the ones upon whom the entity is dependent, and for the conditions as may be made manifest through the physical, mental and spiritual applications of the powers that are abroad in this material world.
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2099], we are speaking of:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find deficient in quantity, and often carrying within the stream itself those elements that are not building, nor supplying to the system a sufficient amount of those divisions in the body as will make for a complete PHYSICAL-MENTAL normal body.
-
IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, this we find lacking much from those deficiencies, from the inability of the assimilations to create the forces elemental and material for the upbuilding of the locomotions of the body, for the abilities of the system to react in a nominal or normal manner. Often involuntary actions become voluntary, and voluntary involuntary.
-
IN THE ORGANS OF THE BODY THEMSELVES, in the brain forces we find those hindrances that prevent the normal or nominal reaction, that produce or come FROM incoordination, and produce by same that voluntary and involuntary contraction that exists, as given; the distortions for portions of the system coming from these same conditions.
-
In the functioning of the system, the glands - as come from those distribution of forces - we find lacking, not only in those elements as from those forces of the pituitary and of the thyroid, but ALSO those of the endrenal [adrenal?], as WELL as those of the lacteals.
-
In meeting, then, the needs of the conditions of this body:
-
As we would find, with care, with patience, with consistency, we may bring TO this body a much nearer normal reaction, and eventually - at least by the third cycle - there must be brought a normalcy, at least sufficient where the body may care FOR, and react TO, its OWN impulses.
-
There be some three channels, as we find, through which these conditions may be brought about.
-
First we would suggest as through those administrations for the mental and physical body, as may be administered in the Still-Hildreth institution for mental-nervous diseases, Macon, Missouri.
-
Or, these may be had through a sympathetic reaction of one applying those of vibratory forces that come from hypnosis, as would be produced by those of magnetic vibrations, adding WITH this same those manipulative forces as in the better applications apply with same through those of the schools of SUGGESTION, as may be had from those in Nevada, Missouri.
-
Or, we may find those applications that may be had from those in sympathy with such applications, of the manipulative forces as may be applied through the osteopathic manipulation, with an attendant or nurse in care of same that would apply those vibrations from the wet appliances as carry the Gold into the system, which will aid the system in creating a nominal or nearer normal equalization, through that as may be assimilated by the body, that as may be given THROUGH such vibrations in those forces with the Gold, by the electrical forces in the wet appliance being charged in the first application for some twenty-eight days; then in the next application of same would be with those vibrations WITHOUT the charging of same; the manipulations being administered at least every OTHER day, Sundays included, for at least three to six month periods of duration, then a rest period, but with the care and charge OF those forces in the attendance of one in sympathy with the conditions and with the making of corrections, altering or changing as the conditions alter to meet the needs. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the cause of her ailment? (A) As has been given, these come from derangements in the GLANDS - that make for the ineffective activities in those things assimilated. Hence producing in the organs themselves this inability of a normal mental OR physical reaction, affecting - as has been given - primarily, or first - those of the thyroid, those of the endrenal [adrenal], those of the glands in the base of the brain themselves, or through those portions as has been given.
-
(Q) Through following these treatments, will the body be enabled to walk? (A) As has been given, take care of itself by time it is eighteen to twenty-one years old.
-
(Q) Considering circumstances and conditions surrounding the body, which treatment would you advise following? (A) That should be determined by those upon whom the body is dependent. The job is for those to whom the body belongs; not - cannot - be given to someone else.
-
(Q) Any advice regarding diet? (A) These, as we would find, would be better dependent upon that character of administration chosen for the corrections.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 7/16/31 GD’s letter to [2099]‘s mother:
Dear Mrs. […]
We are enclosing a copy of the reading for your daughter, which was gotten this afternoon at the appointed time.
It seems the first thing to do is to study these three modes of treatment carefully, go into each one of them thoroughly, and make a decision as to which one you shall use. If there is any information that we can give you in regard to these treatments, please let us know. I think the last treatment referred to is somewhat similar to the one being used for Mrs. […]‘s daughter, [5483]. You can very easily get literature from these other two institutions mentioned, and we will be glad to answer any questions you might wish to ask about this or any other part of the reading - that is, as far as possible for us to do.
Hoping and trusting that we have been and may be of service to you and yours, I am
Sincerely, Gladys Davis Secretary to Mr. Cayce.

She cannot walk. Mrs. […] [[5483]‘s mother] has told me of the wonders you have performed. Will you kindly give a reading for [2099]? I will wait anxiously to hear from you, and pray that you will give some light on this tragedy which has come to our house.”
