This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 105th Street & Ocean, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of July, 1931, in accordance with request made by the mother, through Mrs. [959].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2104]. Now, we find there are PHYSICAL conditions, physical deficiencies in this body. These have to do with prenatal conditions of such a nature as the developing of the body, especially in the male, is of such a nature that the stamen [stamina?] in the cerebro-spinal nerve system itself becomes involved in the condition, until the stamen [stamina?] - that is, that in the nerve and muscular forces of the nerves along the cerebro-spinal - prevent same from holding its nominal or normal position, producing a softening of the cartilaginous forces IN the cerebro-spinal system, allowing curvature of the spine in the dorsal, the coccyx and lumbar region; thus impinging the nerve centers themselves, weakening the stability of the spine, producing a softening to the brain, causing imbecility, and a drying up of the nerves in the base of brain that allow the governing of impulse to the brain center itself, producing partial then whole paralysis to the body.

In the present condition in this body, [2104], we find were there applied those vibrations from without and from within that will give to the body that virility within the system, this may be overcome to a great extent, to at least where the MIND of the body - and some of the ACTIVITIES of same - may be saved.

3. We would apply, then, as this:

4. Beginning first with Chloride of Gold in distilled water, proportions one grain to one ounce of water - see? The dose would be two minims in half a glass of water, given twice each day. This given for two days, then increase the dose one minim every two days until the dosage is eight minims - see? Then leave off for three days, then begin with Bromide of Soda one grain to one-half ounce of water - give THIS FIVE minims twice each day for five days, then begin with the Gold solution again one minim and increase in the same manner as begun.

5. Also use the Radio-Active Appliance CARRYING the Gold in solution into the system by vibration, attaching same to (both of these) the cerebro-spinal system; the first anode attached (that WITHOUT the solution) on the line to the 1st and 2nd cervical center; the anode with solution to the 11th and 10th DORSAL center. This should be given each day for one hour.

6. Also we would each EVENING massage the whole cerebro-spinal system, from the base of brain to the end of the spine, with equal parts of olive oil and tincture of myrrh. Heat the oil, adding the myrrh - a tablespoonful of each made at one treatment - see?

7. A GENTLE treatment with the violet ray will also aid later on, but not until there is seen some reaction from the properties given.

8. Be mindful that the diet carries those of muscular and nerve building foods, so that as assimilation is improved the stamen [stamina?] and the virility of the nerve and muscular forces are more in a normal reaction.

9. Massage will also be helpful in a general way, AFTER this condition shows some improvement. This should be seen in ten to twelve days. Do that. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) What was the cause of his condition? (A) As given, prenatal. Too close a kinship.

11. (Q) Is his trouble the same as his two older brothers? (A) As indicated.

12. (Q) Will he finally become an invalid unless help can be given? (A) An invalid and an imbecile. Do as we have given. We are through for the present.

(1) In your opinion did the analysis of the Reading cover the condition? Absolutely.

(2) Give symptoms of condition described correctly? Stiffness in hips & legs - gradually getting worse - mentality weakening.

(3) What was the physician’s analysis of this condition? The family seemed beneath the physicians notice. Or every one was used to it - and made no effort to help.

(4) Have the suggestions given in the Reading been followed exactly as outlined? Not at all.

(5) For how long?

(6) Describe the extent to which improvements have resulted? Patient grew steadily worse.

(7) Comment. [from enclosed letter] [2104]: This case is perfectly familiar to me, in fact have just read it over from my files. The boy’s two older brothers are dead, and he is going, or may be gone by now as I have not seen him for some time. Last time I saw him he was pitiful, could hardly walk, and his facial expression was terrible - bordering on that of an imbecile - just as Reading said.

B1. 6/25/31 Mrs. [959]‘s letter to GD: “In regard to the charity reading I spoke to you about, I am glad Mr. Cayce can give this one because some of the churches here have been caring for members of this family for some time and one man has expressed his willingness to help finance this boy’s treatments. Since hearing of Mr. Cayce the mother is anxious that he first tell what is the trouble and what can be done… [She reports on her mother, Mrs. [356]‘s condition]…

“I am wondering what the information will be. The father is a former dissipater and three boys are affected alike - this is the youngest of the three. The other two are almost helpless - one walks with two canes and one is in a wheel chair. This one [2104] is beginning to get stiff or lose control of his legs.

“I’ll give information and questions on another sheet.

“I am sure there will be many in our town and church that will appreciate this reading for [2104].”
