This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 105th Street & Ocean, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of October, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [2135], - through Dr. [1924].

1. EC: (Going back over the years ” - 1928 - Yes, that’s when the trouble began - ”)

2. Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, as are latent and exhibited in the personality of the present entity, [2135].

3. In entering this present experience, as we find, the entity comes under the astrological influence of Mercury - afflicted with Saturn; Jupiter and Venus, also affliction in Saturn - with a benevolent influence in Uranus and Neptune. These, as we find, have made in this present experience rather unusual circumstances in the life of the entity. With the high mental development, with the aptitudes as experienced in the early portion of gathering from the associations, surroundings and studies, much of a nature that made for the entity an exceptional body among groups and individuals, in its social and its mental and material life. In the changes brought, there has come the fear of the conditions in the financial position, as well as bounty in these directions. As a promise in the associations in the filial and home life, as well as those that have brought heartaches, yearnings and longings that have reached in the PRESENT circumstances, conditions and surroundings, that as of almost unbearable conditions. As has been seen, as will be experienced by the entity through those activities of the body-mental, the soul development of the entity, these in MANY ways HAVE been, were, necessary - that there be the proper understanding of relationships and the proper VALUATION IN the life, in the soul, of those things in a material life that may be made as the criterions; for, as is experienced, as HAS been experienced in the present, those things - while they may be in a manner that bring contentment, or a satisfaction rather in the material things of life - yet through slights, slurs, misunderstandings, often fame, fortune, position, peace of mind - as it were - takes wings and there is naught but to rely on that promise as has been made to mankind, womankind, since the foundations of the earth, “Will ye abide IN Me, I will abide in you.” Take little thought of those things that are but of today. Knowest thou not that, art thou in that way of being a light to few or many in HIS way, that He will preserve thee against every opposition? against thine enemies, against the things evil spoken of, against those conditions that thou art seemingly unable to center as this or that? but KEEP the heart in accord with that thou knowest. As thou gained in the first portion of the experience, and in the developments as the budding into the womanhood, with those same thoughts, those same ideals, keep those trusts that thou knowest are true! Be not unmindful that, art thou in HIS keeping, He will not allow thee to be tempted beyond that ye are ABLE to bear. Doth He not clothe the sparrow and the lily alike? Doth He not provide for those of HIS creatures? Be thou rather in the hands of the LIVING God, than in the hands of those who speak lightly of the things thou wouldst do!

4. In the appearances, and the effects these have, have had, upon the present experience and sojourn, as related to those influences in the astrological manner, as we find:

5. In the one then before this, during those periods when there were the settlings in this present land, and in that portion of same now known as the New England land. The entity then among those who stirred up for those peoples of the time that held to tenets that were unseeming to the entity. In the name Rose Blake, the entity found that of dissention through those oppressions put upon those that would lead those of self’s own choosing, FROM the ways as SEEMED to the entity right. Spite was that as manifested in the activities in the experience, and these - as we find in the present - in that SAME manner are there coming some experiences to the entity. Keep, then, thine counsel; yet wilt thou also keep in close accord, close touch with those sources of the divine from within, that the promise may be, “When ye turn again to me, though thou be wandered far away, yet will I harken unto thee.”

6. In the one before then this we find in that land now known as the Roman, in those periods when there were much of the turmoils by the oppressions as were put upon sects, or sect of peoples that claimed for those of the truths as might be manifested in man. The entity then among those of the loyalty to those of the royalty, and brought self much pleasure in the period; losing in the first portion; gaining when there came to self through those visions the visioning of the material things that pass, and the inner self was aroused in the sleeps (though drugged in many respects of the physical), and there came an awakening to the entity that brought - though those of strife, those of being forsaken, yet brought to the heart, to the soul, that of a peace and harmony AND happiness that may still be thine, even in this experience, will that trust and hope AND faith be put in its proper sphere. Trust not in the short arms of man; rather in the loving arms of Him who gave thee that of the awakening in THAT experience, as well as He who may awaken in thee in the present that of the consciousness of being in harmony with those things that make for the proper material surroundings, the proper activities in all phases of the social or marital, or those of the life of the intercourse between individuals, and these may bring that peace and joy as was experienced by the entity in the name Maridole.

7. In the one then before this we find in that land now known as the Persian, and during that period when there was the return of the peoples to the promise land, and with those groups as came with Ezra, the scribe, the priest. The entity then of the household of Ebzei, and the entity gained through this experience. While there were many of the hardships in the journeys to the promise land, in those activities as came to the household, to the entity - in the name Zilla - that brought MATERIAL disorder, yet the heart kept singing, as the entity - with the children of Asaph (?) - made music in the temple. In this field, either of the music or in those as pertains to cloths or dress goods, or such, may the entity find - as for COMMERCIAL life - that which will bring harmony, peace, joy, in service as may be rendered to others, as well as bringing to self MATERIAL things of life.

8. In the one then before this we find in that land known as the Atlantean, and in the city or country of Poseidia. The entity, in the name Amiliie, found much of the joys of an EARTHLY nature in the ability to give counsel to those who would use the forces of the mental SIDE of life in acquiring the gratifying sources or forces, in that that has grown to be personality and MATERIALITY in this present sojourn and surrounding. The entity gained and lost. Gained in service, in FINDING others and giving aid. Lost in the aggrandizing of selfish interests.

9. In the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain, and how:

10. As has been seen through the experiences, by first finding self, self’s relations to the Creative Forces in life, that is as being a blessing to others; for we ARE as ambassadors here for Him. Be FAITHFUL, be true, to thine self - and it CANNOT be thou wilt be false to any. No matter what others may say, keep the face to the light - and the shadows will fall behind.

My Dear Mr. & Mrs. Cayce-:

It makes me very happy to be able to congratulate you upon such a complete victory over an unpleasant situation; I felt that so many really important people were extending their sympathy, that I had better refrain from extending mine until you could really find time to read it. I sensed there must be something wrong during my conversation with you on the phone the night before I left but I had no idea of such a situation, the irony of it is that while you were trying to teach such people the finer things of life, you were casting pearls before swine. Dr. [1924] wrote & asked me to tell him something about it, but I knew no more than he; I could only tell him of meeting you all and how gracious you were to me, hoping this thing will bring you the greatest success you have ever known & that you are all very happy & well & that you will let me hear from you, I am most gratefully yours for the help you have given me,

My dear Mrs. [2135]

We were happy indeed to have your letter of the 16th. Our experience in New York was certainly a very unpleasant one. Of course, we had realized through the years that there had been some antagonism of a nature from different sources, but that it could crystallize in such a shape as to cause what it did had not seemed possible. No doubt such an experience was necessary, that we might know just who our friends are, just how true they might be, and that the work itself might have a legal status throughout the country. To be sure, we had attempted to safeguard it in that direction, and it proved

• by what happened - that we were correct. It was very disturbing to have most of the papers intimate that we were dismissed on a technicality, when - as one paper stated, which was the truth - it was done wholly on the merits of the case. However, it must be very much as trying to make explanations to our friends. To our friends we don’t have to make them; to others it doesn’t matter. So, possibly with this, those who have an interest whatever will take the trouble to find out. Those who are antagonistic, when they do attempt to find out will find that it was wholly legal in its every phase, and that we stand justified before the courts of New York.

It was indeed a great pleasure to know you, Mrs. [2135]. I am sorry I didn’t have more opportunity to talk with you concerning our study group here. This is what may be called the parent study group. I’m wondering if you would like to go along with the lessons and readings that we are getting from week to week in this group? There are no charges. We are not trying to sell anything; neither do we want to induce you to take this up. Just, if you have seen or felt there is sufficient truth or good to be obtained from the information (not from me, but from the information), that might be helpful to you in adjusting yourself and in assisting you to be helpful to others in a definite, concrete way and manner, we want to give you a greater opportunity to use these channels. If you would like to do this, let us know and we will be glad to send copies of the first lessons, for these have been going on for some weeks. [[262] series]

We want to thank you for your letter. We appreciate the faith and confidence you have evidenced in us, and we only hope and trust we may ever conduct our lives so that you may always be glad to say that you count us among your friends.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

The reason I have not written in reply to your letter sooner is, I have not been quite certain, whether I should take advantage of your magnanimous offer but the desire to do so is so great I am going to take you at your word. Perhaps at some future time I shall be in a position to reciprocate in some way and you may be sure I shall be most happy to do so, considering the fact that I am of the North & my people have done the thing to you which they have I really feel your offer is really too generous, however I assure you I appreciate it to the fullest extent.

I received a letter from Dr. [1924] and he feels it was all for the best, and as he says, it was the jealousy of the mad dogs, as some one calls them. “I am quoting him;” as they do not want any one to interfere with their work, but that it will only increase your popularity & be an asset to the cause. I trust by this time life for you all is going on in the even tener of its way, that you have regained your peace of mind (if you ever lost it) & extending the season’s greetings to all

Dear Mrs. [2135]

I have received yours of the 10th, and assure you it will be a real pleasure to send you the data the group is getting from time to time. The enclosed are the last three lessons. We will send the first ones as soon as Miss Gladys has time to copy them for you. I can appreciate your feelings in the matter. Please, please, do not hesitate to tell us if at any time you find the information is not filling that something you are seeking; for we do not want to attempt to influence anyone to subscribe to this work, unless it can and does satisfy a longing, a desire that has NOT been satisfied heretofore. We are hoping and believing this will mean to you a very great deal, but do not hesitate to tell us if it doesn’t - for we do not want to trouble you with something that isn’t worth while.

We appreciate how very lovely you expressed it in your letter, as to what they tried to do to us in the north. However, I believe our hearts and souls do not hold one iota of grudge against anyone for all the annoyance, trouble, and notoriety caused by what they did. I AM appalled at times to think of the forces that were put in motion in our behalf, by our many friends throughout the country, and to know that so much that is often looked at askant - or is openly jeered at by many - was used in our behalf; but God moves in mysterious ways His wonders to perform. I trust, and I do believe, we are striving to do God’s service, to be of help if possible to our fellow man. I thank you also for the message from Dr. [1924]. We, of course, have come to think a great deal of him, and hope that sometime in the near future we may have the opportunity to talk with him in person again. We hope he was quite right, that the knock will eventually mean a boost.

Dear Mr. Cayce-:

I am truly sorry I have not written and thanked you for both the Xmas greeting & lessons but the fact is I have been working from nine o’clock in the morning until nine o’clock at night and consequently did not find the time to do so and I am sure you will understand.

I understand Dr. [1924] is on his vacation so doubtless you will see him before he returns.

While you all were basking in sunshine during the holidays we were & still are living through an old fashioned winter, lots of snow.

Asking to be remembered to Mrs. Cayce & also Miss Gladys, & again thanking you,

Dear Mrs. [2135]

We were very glad to have yours of the 1st. Yes, I can certainly understand how one who has been kept as busy as you must doesn’t have much time for study or correspondence. I hope that when you do have the time you will find the lessons very much worth while. I’m really anxious to have some comments on the lessons from someone like yourself, when you have the opportunity to study them over.

So far we haven’t heard from Dr. [1924]. We’ve been looking for him to drop us a line, or he may walk in some day - as he has once or twice.

On the first day of January here we had perfectly lovely weather! Some of us even went in the ocean. While it is not cold now, it is rather disagreeable and rainy - and perhaps will be for several days yet.

Let us hear from you whenever you can. I am enclosing an application. Should you meet someone whom you might interest in some portion of our work, you could get them to make their application for membership. We have some data we hope to put on the press very soon, and we can send you some of that also.

Dear Mr. Cayce-:

Oh I thank you so much for the membership card, & I do wish you to know both you and Dr. [1924] have helped me more than I can say, I only wish it were possible, to have a personal interview once in a while.

Through your help I have found a way to be of some use, to others for the time being & I am sure you would approve if you knew the details which I shall not bore you with at the present time. I can only say of the lessons I have received that they have been of untold value to me & only lack of time & funds prevent me from making a life study of your wonderful work. I called Dr. [1924] up in Philadelphia & did so want him to come on to … before he went south but I guess the spirit must have moved him to go some where else, & I just did need to talk to him too.

I trust you are all well & happy & I am sure you are & hoping you will once in a while write so I may feel I have not been entirely dropped from the circle

My dear Mrs. [2135]

Many thanks for yours of the 23rd. We never did hear any more from Dr. [1924] either, though we had been looking forward with much anticipation to meeting him again.

I am so very glad you feel we have been of help in some way. It is too bad we are not able to more often have personal interviews. Possibly there is a reason, though we may not understand it at present. The time no doubt will come when this can be more often, if it is best for all concerned.

I’ll be very glad to have the details whenever you feel you would like to tell them to me, or to advise with us in any way. Please do not feel that it would be a bore, for our whole purpose is to try and be of service to others. To assist another in any way in that they find as their work is, we feel, helping them to help themselves. We are certainly always interested.

You understand, I’m sure, that the information we have sent is not the lessons themselves. It is merely to enable individuals to come to that awakening in which they will be able to give an expression on the subjects we are studying, that will be worth while to another. Hence the lessons are a compilation of the ideals or ideas of each individual studying these subjects, and their own personal application and reaction from these in their own lives. Then, as we see, the completed lessons are a compilation of ideas from many individuals, rather than from one - as in most lessons of the nature. So we are asking that you assist the group in the compilation of these lessons, in whatever time you may have to give. As you see, the information itself asks that individuals contribute that of themselves towards this compilation. Your experience in the application of some thought or truth that might be given would affect some outside individual quite differently from what my thought would. Of course, this is a very slow and tedious way to prepare lessons. We recognize that, but we believe it is worth all the trouble and time it may take, and surely is so if it gives peace, comfort and hope to a single individual. So, we would appreciate your letting us have any thought you would like to see expressed to someone else, from time to time.

Mrs. [2135] since you had your reading right after the new organization, before we had our applications printed, we haven’t one of them signed by you in our files. Just sign and fill out the lower righthand portion of this blank and return to us. This doesn’t mean for you to send any money, but just that we may have a complete record on the information you have already gotten.
