GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2145].
-
Now as we find, there is rather the complication of conditions which disturb the better equilibrium of this body.
-
A great deal arises from neglect of those little necessities in regard to keeping proper eliminations, and those activities sufficient to work off the used energies so that resuscitating forces might be brought - by changes in the mental attitude and mental outlook also.
-
These, then, are conditions as we find them with this body, [2145] we are speaking of:
-
The blood supply indicates the forms of toxemia that have disturbed and do disturb the better circulation, - as indicated by the conditions in the lower limbs and also in the arms at times.
-
This, then, is a form of neuritis, combined with the stress upon the lymph; and is rather of the inflammatory nature, caused by impingements in the lower lumbar areas - through the lumbars AND the lower dorsals.
-
Thus the conditions is caused in the colon area - from the toxic forces - especially the form of toxemia that brings the stress upon the nerve system of the sympathetic as well as the central or cerebrospinal nerve system.
-
This unbalance is partly due, of course, to the poor eliminations, and partly to the unbalance in the diets, and especially the conditions related somewhat to irritations to the eliminations in kidneys and bladder and the like.
-
These, of course, affect the circulatory system as related to heart’s activity. Thus the shortness of breath, the weakness, the inability for strains of any kind to not affect the body in unusual manners.
-
As we find, in making administrations for the improvements of this body, - first:
-
We would begin with those adjustments as would be made through the lumbar, sacral and dorsal areas; COORDINATING with same the upper dorsal and cervical, - by massage as well as the adjustments throughout those areas indicated.
-
These we would have EVERY DAY until at least fifteen have been given. Then we would have rest period from them for a week or ten days. Then have them again for another eight to ten to twelve such adjustments.
-
We would have such as Thompson to make the adjustments.
-
In the meantime we would take the ENO SALTS; just a teaspoonful in a little water, or a glass of water, before the morning meal, each morning, - for the aiding to reduce the acidity, as well as to stimulate the eliminations through the alimentary canal.
-
On the evening of the first taking of the Eno Salts, - that is, when the first dose of Eno Salts is taken of morning, that same evening we would take a high enema or colonic irrigation; using a Fountain Syringe with a COLON TUBE. Do this before retiring that evening.
-
Also take another high enema or colonic irrigation within the next period of ten days; that is, have the two such irrigations within a period of ten days, see? and keep these up about every ten days.
-
Then, as to the diet: Keep away from meats. Take just as much of fruit juices and vegetable juices as the body will assimilate. Let at least one meal each day be principally of raw vegetables. These may be taken with or without oil or salad dressing. If meats are taken at all, only fish, fowl or lamb.
-
Keep off of the feet as much as is practical. Not that there is to be a giving up of all exercise, but be in the open whenever practical.
-
Do these, being consistent.
-
When there is the first rest period from the adjustments, we would begin with the use of the Radio-Active Appliance as an equalizer for the circulation, and to stimulate the circulatory forces that will have been improved by the adjustments and the eliminating of the poisons from the system.
-
When there is ACUTE pain, either of the limbs or through the shoulder and arm or elbow, we find that it will be beneficial to apply Epsom Salts Packs.
-
Be consistent, be persistent. Do ALL of these as suggested, or do NONE of them! if we would bring the better conditions for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 4/6/40 Sister’s letter to EC:
…, Alabama
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.,
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have delayed writing you in hopes that I could tell you that my sister was trying out your instructions but so far she has done little towards it.
I have been trying to stay on the Hay plan, which is similar to yours, as he says we are just what we eat, which is true, and he gives you just how we shall eat our different foods, not eliminating anything but a very few things, such as vinegar etc.
My sister can not be hurried - and she may take this up after she has fully decided but I can not say anything to her or she will not do it, so if she does I shall let you know.
Thanking you most kindly and will let you hear again from me if there should be any developments.
Sincerely,
[Handwritten note]: Have been listening out for you.

B1. 2/26/40 Sister’s letter to EC:
…, Alabama
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Do not suppose you remember me, but I remember you so well - also remember you gave a reading for a niece of mine once [?].
Now I want to know what your charges are for a reading for a sister - she is up and about but has had a trouble for a long time and it seems to get worse each year and I fear that she will be unable to walk if it continues.
I can write you in detail if I can afford to have the reading and anything you wish to know about her. I prefer her not knowing that I am writing about her until it is all over if it is possible.
Thanking you most kindly and every good wish for you and yours, I am
Miss […]
B2. 3/4/40 Sister’s letter to EC:
…, Alabama
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Your kind letter came a few days ago and I hasten to reply as I feel your need - had thought I would not tell my sister but I did and to my astonishment she was willing for me to write you about her trouble.
She is supersensitive about her age and most shrinking about so many things - can not get her to go to a Dr. unless is it imperative - but she is in a state right now that something should be done for her.
She helps me with a boarding house and is on her feet so much - is real heavy - but if she weighs will not tell her weight, her birthday is some time in April 25th., and she is over 65 the best I can remember is about 67 or 68 in this April but do not mention that if you can help.
We are living at … Avenue in the old … house and she is busy all morning but after eight at night we are in her front room west side of the house. If you can not read there or rather then let me know and I will try another hour and if I know when I will be certain to have her up there for some nights we do not get up in our rooms until 9:00 P.M. Her greatest trouble is in her feet she can hardly walk and her ankles are swollen and her right arm is also swollen and has a mark of some kind. So if you can help her I am only enclosing $5.00 but if I can see my way to send more I shall be happy to do it - but when the responsibility for three others besides myself is on one person it is right hard to make ends meet. And one of my sisters is almost an invalid
- can hardly see and some day I shall get you to give her a reading when I can see my way clear.
Thanking you again and let me know if I have not given the correct information and we are in our rooms every night by 8:30 or 9:00 upstairs at … Ave., and she almost always drops in her chair and in a few minutes is a sleep - she is unmarried - and as it is hard for her to go up and down steps so much she tries not to make so many trips each day.
Hoping I may be able to remit further, I am
Yours most grateful, Miss […]
I feel real flattered that you remember me.
[Handwritten note]: Excuse any errors but when you spell phonetically it ruins “good” spelling.
