This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 6th day of May, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self through friend, Miss […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by her sister, Mrs. [1152] and N.Y. meeting of A.R.E. which Miss […] attended.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Mass. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes.
-
Now, as we find, conditions-physical have grown so serious - from the forces that are as growths, and the lacerations in the stomach area - that they have caused the scientific or medical world to say that little or nothing may be done, - from the SCIENTIFIC manner.
-
Thus, - we find that there may be MUCH accomplished, if there will be the use of prayer and the electromagnetic forces, or the hand electrical forces from one whom this body has served, - that is:
-
Have one of those who has been aided or helped by the activities of this body (young would be better, to be sure, but sufficiently old to know the intent and purpose of such), to sit by the body and give the constant hand magnetic treatment, in this manner:
-
Place the left hand under that area almost between the shoulders, and the right hand over the area where the pain and spasmodic reaction occurs at times. This would be direct to the skin, of course. Keep this position for twenty to thirty minutes at a time, then rest for a period of not more than thirty to fifty minutes, and begin again. Keep this up constantly. Of course, the one who makes the application may be changed from time to time, - just so it is one who has been aided by the body and is not too old a person, but one sufficiently minded to know the intent and purpose of such.
-
Let all whom the body has aided make supplication to the divine within each, and to those influences of the Christ-Consciousness, for healing.
-
When there are those paroxysms of vomiting, give a teaspoonful of this combination in a tablespoonful of water, but let it be sipped slowly, - prepare same in this way and manner:
-
To 1 ounce of Lime Water as the base, add - in the order named:
Cinnamon Water…1 ounce, 10% solution Iodide of Potassium…10 drops, 10% solution Bromide of Potassium…10 drops.
Be sure to add the Cinnamon Water TO the Lime Water, and then the other ingredients in the order named.
-
As to the foods, - those that have been a part of the diet. Of course, the greater portion of the diet should be liquid.
-
Keep up the magnetic applications and the supplication constantly, - by all those whom the body has aided.
-
Do that. These as we find offer the hope for helpful experience to the body, not only in the physical but in the mental reactions also.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/7/40 Friend Miss […]‘s letter: “Her husband finds the problem of having friends and people whom she has helped so difficult, as many of them are so far away and scattered, and it is not as though they lived in a small place and were able to get here. Automobile help is lacking, and he has to be off on his business most of the day. Do the instructions mean magnetic tr. 24 hrs. a day, and when she may sleep or doze in the day? She is unable to turn on her side and is painfully thin, so it would seem as though a hand under her back would be most uncomfortable - to her. We would like to know if the tr. means no hands on her for ea. half hr. or 50 min. following half an hr. of prayerful hands on her?
“Very gratefully yours for the message ‘MUCH may be accomplished’ - so be it.”
R2. 5/9/40 EC wrote: “The magnetic tr. can be made by anyone close to her. Some have a great deal more magnetism than others, but naturally one for whom she has given much would exert more help for her. No, it would not be kept up continuously, but would be for 30-50 mins. at a time several times a day or night. From the experiences I have seen with others where such was suggested, I feel sure she will find much ease in the tr.”
R3. 5/15/40 Miss […] wrote: “Our dear neighbor is still with us though how she lingers is amazing, she is so weak.
“The spasms of pain in the abdomen cleared 5/13th, after a night when her husband & sister were up with her, as breathing was so difficult. The family dr. was called & gave something to ease the distress.
“Instructions from you reached us in the late p.m. of 5/14th, & it was nearly midnight before I could get in touch with the husband, for various reasons. He was off on business when I was over there & later could not get away until very late. Naturally, he said it was worth trying. Wed. a.m., early 5/15th, I was there, and as Mrs. [2187] was awake & perfectly conscious, I told her about it, then read the instructions to her & she was very much pleased with it all. I left a copy with her for her husband & sister to consult, & gave her a tr., at once, leaving her quiet & at ease. She says I have that effect on her, & she loves to have me slowly stroke her forehead, as she finds it soothing to feel the touch of my hand.
“A long time friend of the family, a young student minister taking graduate work at Cambridge, was there in the P.M. and was very pleased at the whole story & gave her several trs.
“The several friends who have dropped in have also been asked to pray for her before they left & the student has been there several times till he had to go to the Cape for his week-end preaching engagement.
“Two violent attacks of nausea have been very hard on her, though the first time the Cinnamon Water gave help. The husband & the 18 yr. daughter also gave trs., and the hypos have been less frequent.
“Her father arrived this p.m. from the Provinces (the wire having failed to be rec’d) & that was a great happiness but was followed rather soon by a severe attack of nausea - which was hard on the old gentleman as well as the patient. I feel we have helped a goodly lot & am grateful.”
R4. 5/19/40 Miss […] wrote: “Our dear, brave friend sank into a coma the last hr. here, and quietly ‘crossed the bar’, Fri. night 5/17th. Hers was a gallant fight indeed, in every way
- while the family feel we did a real service for her.” Gratefully yours, […]
R5. 5/24/40 EC wrote Miss […]: “We can only say ‘His will be done’. Just hope there was peace in the hearts of all who mourn her passing. To those of us here who try, may His love keep all of us in the way we should go. Thank you, and will be glad to hear from you at any time.”
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce

B1. 5/1/40 Mrs. [1152]‘s sister wrote: “I am hoping you may be able to help a desperately ill neighbor [Mrs. [2187]], who, after being at the Mass. Gen. Hospital for a number of wks. has now been sent home to die as the drs. can do nothing for her. They ‘observe’ her most of the time, and decided the case was not brought to their attention early enough to do anything.
“She can keep nothing on her stomach and is in great distress, but I pray help may yet come to her through you, and even cure.
“She wants to live - has a husband who finds it so hard to support his wife and child that she has had 10 to 12 mental state children in her home for nearly 2 yrs. and is a splendid foster mother to them… She has been abed about 2 months and is merely a shadow… Most prayerfully does this go forth, knowing that all things are possible with God.”
