This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of March, 1929, in accordance with request made by her sister, Mrs. [3892].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here - [2241]. Now, we find there are those conditions that have to this body become near normal. These are to other bodies abnormal. The body to be assisted, then, may only be aided in giving that as will bring to the body those of the physical and the mental in such a manner that there may be brought the better coordination between the physical, the mental, that the spiritual forces of same may the better manifest in this material physical manifestation at this time.

2. These, then, are the conditions as are to be met, that there may be brought discernment in the mental, that it, the mental, may build in the physical conditions that to which the body, through same, may attain. O that men and women would learn to discern the manifestations of the Lord, as He in His goodness gives to men that which will - would they but bring it to the gift of man - bring the discerning of the light, the life, and the love as may be manifested among the Sons of men!

3. In this condition here, as is seen with [2241] - that of neglect in discernment as concerning the fruits of self’s own aggrandizement in the flesh; for while the spirit is willing, the flesh is weak, and the will of man may make for hardships or for blessings in the lives of those that are as gifts in the world - as known in a spiritual and physical and material manifestation of those elements as make up the forces of the universe.

4. In this condition, then, to aid and to bring about, there should be the care and attention as will come from CALLING on the name of the Lord while He may be found, and this awakened in the heart, the mind, the soul of the body in such a way as to bring the proper understanding of ITS relations to the universe, individuals, self, and to the Creator.

5. In the physical applications there may be added such as would BRING those PROPER relations of coordination between the sympathetic, the cerebro-spinal, and the sensory system. These merely as PHYSICAL conditions. These will add to the comfort and to the advancement into the understanding of that necessary to be created and to be brought about in the body as would bring the bettered conditions for same.

6. Only, then, seeking close to the throne of grace may THIS understanding come for those who would administer in the present experience that necessary for a betterment of the condition of the body now known as [2241]. We are through.

R1. 6/21/29 Sister Mrs. [3892]‘s letter:

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Sir,

In reference to your letter asking for further information concerning my sister [2241] would say that in her present condition it seems impossible to grasp the mind long enough to imprint any impressions so that we have not been able to give treatment you suggested. My sister, apparently always of a healthy, vigorous nature, but of a shy retiring disposition was suddenly taken mentally ill ten years ago. The illness at first was noticeable at times of menstruation. Later she fell into despondency at her repeated efforts to regain herself being failures. She called upon God many times to help her and seemed to gain comfort from a spiritual healer. She remained at home for five years until she become violent & it was no longer safe for herself or other members of her family. Now she is at the Hartford retreat mostly in solitary confinement because of her homicidal tendency. Of course the doctors give us no hope but I have always felt a miracle might be performed & that we might have her back with us her own sweet, gentle self again.

Her memory up to the time of her illness is still good but from that date all is chaos for her. She suffered a spasm or shock shortly after her breakdown which the doctor diagnosed as a complete shattering of the nervous system. I wrote to Dr. Cayce in hopes that he might find some physical trouble responsible but his psychic reading suggested only the mental side.
