This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of May, 1940, in accordance with request made by the brother-in-law, Mr. […] new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended through his sister, Mrs. [1551].

Catawba Time of Reading Sanatorium, 3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, the disturbing conditions have advanced far, - and these should have been attended to, in a manner, sometime ago.

4. However, if there will be persistent and consistent use of those influences as we will suggest, we find that these conditions may still be met, warded off, and recuperative forces set in.

5. In the advanced stages of tubercle, that is of a blood nature as well as the involvement of lung tissue, naturally the digestive areas become involved - and the liver and kidneys with same.

6. As we find, in this particular case it is the lack of administering sufficient of acids to digest foods.

7. Hence, we would begin immediately, or as soon as possible, with giving the body each day a full glass of raw milk containing a teaspoonful of Acigest. Even though it may be necessary to give this in two doses, or at two periods, be sure that this quantity is taken each day. This is a form of the hydrochloric acid, of course, but in such a manner that it may be assimilated by the system. Whether it is taken at once or in two or three doses, whether noon, morning or evening, take it some time during each day; but do not prepare it and let it set two or three hours, or longer than that period. If it is not possible to take that quantity during a two to three hour period, then prepare it fresh and take at another period of the day.

8. Keep the rest that is being done.

9. Also we would add calcium in the form of Calcios; each time, or each day taking sufficient to cover - thinly, as butter - a Premium square cracker. This much should be taken each day.

10. Also use the Brandy Fumes from a charred oak keg (such as prepared for spiritus frumenti, or the like, for the aging of such). Use a gallon or gallon and a half keg, oak, charred inside. If a gallon keg, put in same a quart and a pint of the Pure Apply Brandy. If a gallon and a half keg, put a half gallon of the brandy, - dependent upon the size of the keg as to the quantity used, see? Be sure to use Pure Apple Brandy. This is to be put in and the bung closed, and then two openings made in the head or end - in such a manner that there may be a tube inserted from which the gas may be inhaled into the lungs, - the gas that forms in the vacuum above the solution, you see; using the smaller opening in the same head that the air may pass into same; but keep these tightly corked when not in use. Keep the keg and the brandy close to heat, - not so as to burn or boil, but that evaporation may take place. Once to twice to three times a day, let the body inhale the fumes from this into the throat, bronchi and lungs. This acts as an antiseptic, as well as healing, as well as aiding with the other vital energies in the blood supply from the other properties we have indicated for the better condition of this body.

11. Do these. Begin with all of these as soon as practical, if we would aid this body in this experience.

13. (Q) What is causing the pains in her stomach? (A) Read just what has been given! Lack of that which will digest foods!

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I do not quite know how to start this letter. First of all I’m ashamed of not writing you and telling you of the remarkable reading which you gave my sister-in-law [2270]. She is still in the Sanatorium at Catawba, Virginia. Since that time I have told numerous people about this reading and especially those that doctors have been unable to diagnose.

Having told a very dear friend of mine about you, he is desirous of having his brother-in-law’s case diagnosed. He has had three operations and they still do not know what his trouble is. I would appreciate you letting me know what the proper procedure is and when it would be possible for you to allocate time for this reading.

Your information in regards to the book of your life, which I think should be on the market by now, was misplaced and I would appreciate letting me know the cost of this book as I would like to purchase one.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I received your letter of April 29th, and the fact that I have not answered sooner did not mean that I was not very much interested in your work and in getting a reading for Miss [2270]. I think the best way is to tell you what has transpired.

Miss [2270] is my wife’s sister and owing to her family not being able to take care of her, she has lived with me for some years and I feel like she is one of my immediate family. We had her examined several times without finding out what was wrong and last year we discovered that she had T.B. She has been in Catawba Sanatorium for approximately one year and during that latter part of April 1940, I received a letter saying that the sanatorium had done all they could possible [possibly] do for Miss [2270] and they felt that she did not have very long to live. I immediately called my sister [1551] as she has told me of the miracle that happened to [1677] her son. Miss [2270] does not know how ill she is, or at least we do not think she knows. I am talking it over with the family but we hesitate to take her into out confidence and tell her the truth. I talked to Dr. Garst, Sunday, regarding [2270]‘s condition and she says that she can not last very long and is steadily getting worse. Dr. Garst is in charge of the sanatorium and has been very nice to Miss [2270] and has taken a great deal of interest in her. I did not mention the fact that I was getting in touch with you, but I am sure after all things have failed that she would cooperate with us to the fullest extent.

Miss [2270]‘s mother and my wife are very much interested, along with myself, in cooperating to the fullest extent. Any other information which you might desire, I will be only too glad to give.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

In reply to your letter of the 16th, in regards to Miss [2270] we have hesitated to acquaint her of this reading due to the fact that we do not want her to know how seriously ill she is. She is quite a nervous person and worries a lot and we feel if we told her she would get despondent and would not have the will to fight as she is now fighting.

What we would like to know is what is causing the pains in her stomach as we feel this is one of the main reasons for her inability to arrest the T.B. which has been spreading rapidly. So much so that no treatment has been successful. The doctors say that it is impossible for them to do any more for her and that it was just a matter of time. There has been no change in her physical condition but my wife (her sister, […]) being with her for a couple of weeks, has improved her mental outlook considerably.

Miss [2270] will be in bed at Catawba Sanatorium, Catawba Sanatorium, Va. [near Arlington, Va.] Room 20, Ward E. Her quite hour is from 2 to 4 PM. [2270] and […], loving each other so much and having such a close bond between them, we prefer that […] keep the appointed hour for meditation. […] will be at home, … Va.
