This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of June, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [2275], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [1602].

Born December 4, 1891, in Wuerzburg, Germany. Time of Reading Set bet. 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Taken 3:40 to 4:20 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over the years from the present - ” - ‘23 - yes - change - ‘20 - ‘19 - ” etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2275].

4. In giving the interpretations of the records here, and that which is the intent and purpose in the experiences of the entity in the present, - these are chosen with the purpose and desire that this be a helpful experience for the entity.

5. There are latent and manifested urges which arise from material sojourns, as well as from astrological aspects and phases of the entity’s experience. However, these mean little to the entity in the present experience; and what to do with the opportunities and what lies before the entity in the present, in meeting and in becoming and doing that which is a helpful influence in the experience, becomes paramount.

6. Then, in analysing, this, there may be references made to the latent and manifested urges; but, as is the experience of the entity, no urge surpasses the will of the individual. And what an entity does about or with the opportunities expressed or manifested, or that become a part of the experience, becomes and should be kept innate, and in those directions to fulfil not merely a destiny but to be a living example of that it, the entity, professes to believe in and holds as its ideal, - spiritually, mentally, physically.

7. And, as this entity does embrace and has embraced in its religious or spiritual concept, the activity should be in keeping with its deepest tenets, - not of self-righteousness nor the laudation of self, but of that which is the all-embracing purpose for which God has manifested His love, His purposes among men.

8. Then, as to the activities in the present, - let those things that bring hope, faith and brotherly love be practical applications in the daily associations with its fellow men.

9. And putting the whole trust, the whole purpose in those activities, the entity need never fear, need never have a doubt or quaver as to what will be accomplished, - physically, mentally or spiritually, - in this material plane.

10. The activities during the sojourns of the entity through the material plane have enabled the entity to become associated in this experience with, and to make a practical application of, ways or means to be of material as well as of mental help to others who are afflicted, or who are lacking in the best in their experience.

11. Then, apply those tenets of thy faith, thy hope, thy love, thy purpose in Him, to those channels of activity in which ye are engaged day by day.

12. And if the Lord leads thee, how can, how will there be either a doubt or fear in that thou choosest to do?

13. Let thy ways be then above reproach in thine own conscience. Let thy conversation, thy activity, be within keeping of that thou professest to believe in Him. For indeed He is the way, the truth and the light, - and in that promise He has made to each soul that seeks His way, He is not far from thee when ye keep His commandments. And as He hath given, “If ye will keep my commandments and love me, I will come and abide with thee.”

14. Then, study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, dividing the words of truth and keeping self unspotted from the world. No greater, better or surer advice and counsel may be given to the entity than that the seeking to know His way with thee will enable thee to choose day by day thy courses to pursue.

15. For, He is not afar off, but - as was given in days of old - Lo, He is within thine own conscience, thine own heart.

16. Seek then in thy daily life to make thy purposes, thy hopes, one with Him.

17. Ready for questions.

18. (Q) How may I make my own profession, as a licensed masseuse, more suitable for me? (A) By applying in thy daily applications of its good offices that which is best within thee; and with the desire and purpose not merely to have a job, not merely to have a means of achieving material gains, but to do a work entrusted to thee by a divine power that enables thee to be to each soul to whom ye apply thy work, thy profession, a channel, a means of making manifest His love among thy fellow men.

Applied in such a way and manner it CANNOT, it WILL NOT fail. And ye will find a greater increase. Not by loud boasting, no. But let thy prayer and thy meditation be, as ye make application to others, “LORD, LEAD THOU THE WAY!”

19. (Q) How should I go about to get more medical massages? (A) As has been offered, accept those channels through which ye may be closely associated with those who are in direct connection with the medical associations and medical treatments.

20. (Q) Which of the two offers should I accept? (A) Both of these CAN be had, if there is the desire to WORK self to that extent. Otherwise, choose that as appears to be in keeping with that thou purposest to do within thine own conscience.

21. (Q) Why did the dentist offer me his office? What does he think of me? (A) What thinkest thou of him? The answer is as the reflection of thy thoughts of him!

22. (Q) How am I able to establish a clientele for these offices? (A) In the manners and ways as indicted. Let each client, each person ye serve, be that as He gave, - “He that would be the greatest among you will be and is the servant of all.”

In that attitude, in that manner, that way of expressing self, ye BUILD that which is creative and helpful; and not only does it bring peace and harmony but love with same - which is so lacking in thy experience!

23. (Q) Or is there anything else I can do to make a decent living, and be happy and successful in my occupation? (A) In the manner outlined is the better way and manner, as we find indicated from the experience and the application of self through the sojourns as well as the purposes in the present.

24. (Q) Should I take a partner? (A) In ANY way or manner! Keep too much from partnerships of any nature. Be rather the director thyself; though ye may choose helpers if so desired; but in such be to each one as ye would have that one be to thee - in God’s ways and not just for material gains.

25. (Q) Is it indicated that the life like reproduction of the Lord’s Supper, which was the life ambition of a dead friend of mine, still be made? If so, by whom, when, and who sponsors it? (A) This has been touched upon before, and we do not find as connected in this direction in the present. This will depend upon the purposes of individuals.

26. (Q) Is there any possibility of selling my Canadian Patent on a Royalty or Outright basis? If so, how should I go about it? and in that case, how would I be able to avoid any trouble with my deceased partner’s relatives? (A) Only in combination with them, and through their permit, - and through that association and activity, - can that be carried on that would be without becoming a question or an entanglement. But in that way and manner it may be made a successful venture.

27. (Q) Please advise me as to Mr. [S…]‘s ideas and his business practices? Are my other ideas of any values? (A) As to what are Mr. [S…]‘s ideas, - rather consider if they are in keeping with thy ideals! If not, keep far from same! What is thy purpose? What is thy hope? What are thy desires? The satisfying for the moment, to make sure of material activities and gains without respect to how attained or gotten?

The law of the Lord is perfect, - yea, it is as a two-edged sword, cutting as it were front and back, or dividing bone and marrow.

Let thy yeas be yea in the Lord, thy nays be nay in the Lord.

Search thine own heart, thine own purpose. Make them one with Him, if ye would find that harmony which passeth understanding.

Dear Miss [2275]

Have yours of the 13th - we sent you the complete report as we received it. Why none of your former appearances were given do not know. Of course, if you wish us to try and see if we may obtain these will be glad to try same again - but we never hold back any information that has been given.

Feel sure you have some real information in that given you and hope you do have Mrs. [1602] go over same with you, than [then] let me hear from you again.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Enclosed find a Postal money order of $5.00, the last payment of your fees.

I am sorry it comes so late. I did not forget it; it was only delayed.

The house, in which I am supposed to get my studio, sharing the place with a dentist, is being built over now. Then it will proof [prove] if you’re right, because I start as a stranger in a strange country, without one patient, in a depression, and hated and boycotted as a German. By the way, on account of the country of my birth, I lost only recently my part time evening job, which I held for three and a half years. Being an American Citizen did not save it.

Coming back to the letter of June 17, you wrote me, concerning my former appearances on this earth plane, which were missing in your reading, and about which you said you may try to get them, I decided, to leave the decision about it to you. If you wish to do so, you may try to get them, if not, than don’t do it.

I will report to you later on, and hope that your reading may be helpful.

Have yours of the 29th with enclosure - thank you. Am in hopes you will not be disappointed when the house is finished and your office is going. Will be in N.Y. next month. Beginning the week of the 10th I believe now - would like to see you and talk with you regarding your reading, if you find the time - then can possibly decide whether it would be worthwhile undertaking - the other reading or not. Can we help this we wish to do.

R6. 11/29/40 Miss [2275]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Expecting that you are back home by now, I wish to write you a few lines, asking your advice in the following matter.

As you may remember I asked in my reading about the two offices, which were offered to me to share. This morning I called up the dentist, and asked him, what he decided about his prospective, new office. He told me that the plumbers are working in it now. So, I said: “So, you signed the lease already? Well, when do I get my part?” He replied, that he told me the other day already, that he thinks “the office is not big enough for both of us,” and so he did not ask the landlord for the permit to share the office with somebody else, but decided to take it alone. Well, you may believe, I was very frank in expressing my opinion about him and his deceitfulness. But at the end of our conversation, I excused my temper, and made an appointment for my tooth to be filled, leaving by purpose a door open for new negotiations.

Now, I have to ask you for your advice, why this happened, and what could be done about it, because this is not in accordance with your reading?

Please let me know immediately, because my appointment with the dentist is for next Tuesday.

Dear Miss [2275]

Yours of the 29th just received and will try and reply at once. To be sure, the reading cannot prevent a man from changing his mind. But as told you the last evening I saw you, just don’t let him do that to you. Insist without anger to be sure that he keep his promise, and feel sure it can be arranged alright.

If not, don’t let it get you. All of us at some time are very much disappointed in people - but so must have been HE, and so HE must often be - yet, with many of us - we fall far short. Then, let’s not be severe on others. We must forgive just as we expect HIM to forgive us and that is daily life, not just to take to Church with us on special days or occasions.

But think yet it will work out right - if you handle this situation aright.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Received your letter of Dec. 2., and thank you very much for it.

I took your advice, forced myself, swallowed all my pride, and went twice to the dentist, asking him twice for the promised part of his office. He refused twice very definitely, because there were gossipers at work behind my back.

So, I am sorry to report to you, that your reading proofed [proved] incorrect. The remark in your letter, “that a man may change his mind”, seems to me rather a consolation, nothing else. I asked you as a Psychic for a reading, to hear the final end results of my questions, not that “a reading can not prevent a man from changing his mind”. As you are a channel of God, through whom God speaks through the spirits to men, I trusted and expected that the spirits speak the truth. But in my case they failed to do so. The law of God is eternal and spirits are not supposed to tell untruths.

Please let me know what you think about this, and what the spirits tell you now about my case.

Thank you for yours of the 14th. Am sorry indeed to hear you were not able to get the place as suggested that you would be in the information. But people do change their minds. You have read, haven’t you, where even those chosen by GOD himself changed their minds in being what HE had intended them to be, like Saul and so many others. So, please don’t blame any interpretation that I or you may have put on such - possibly this is not and never will be an explanation for you. Yet, believe you can yet make the suggestions most helpful in your experience do you choose to do so.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Through Mrs. [1602], 108 East 78th Str., New York, N.Y., I heard about you and your work. I was formerly nurse to [1581] and raised him. Mrs. [1602] told me about the reading you gave him.

Now I have a Problem. I would like to have a reading on vocational guidance for myself. I am at the present time a licensed masseuse. Giving massages is sometimes very hard, and is seasonal work, through which I make very little progress. At times it seems to be very strenuous for my health, though I like it.

Is there a way of becoming more prosperous and independent, and of living a more normal, regulated and happy life? What would you advise me to do, and how shall I go about it?

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Referring to our conversation at your visit in New York, I would like to ask you, if you have now time for a reading for me on vocational guidance?

I will explain my situation to you, so you may understand it. I do not intend to change my occupation, because I am already middle aged, and do not have the money anymore to take something else up. But I would like to know how to make my own profession more suitable for me, and how to go about it to get more medical massages, and how to establish a clientele big enough to make a decent living and to keep my little home comfortably up. Besides I would like to have a little security for my old age. At the present time I struggle very hard for these. I have to fight depression and prejudice against me as a German. Reducing massages in Institutions are very poorly paid and much too strenuous for me. They endanger my health (heart trouble, a.s.o.). Besides all these my work is seasonal, and there is almost nothing to do in summer ‘til late fall. Would there by ever any possibility of having my own studio? When, where, and how could I start it? Should I take a Partner? Or what would be best suited for me.

I have a Canadian Patent, which it seems is not sellable. Is there any possibility of selling it on a Royalty or Outright basis? If so, how should I go about it? In that case, how am I able to avoid any trouble with my deceased partner’s relatives? What do you think of Mr. […] and his business practices? Are my other ideas of any value?

Should I take an apartment with somebody else together, and when and where?

Would it be satisfactory if I pay you now ten Dollars, that is half of your fee, and the other half in monthly payments? This would be easier for me. Please let me know. If you give me a reading, please give me one in the afternoon, around 3 o’clock, because this is the time at which I may be at home. But not on a Saturday.

Thank you very much for your letter. I hope that you had a good rest and recreation on your vacation.

If you don’t mind, I would rather prefer to have the reading on Friday, June the 7, as we set the date first, instead on June 5. I may have a visitor on June 5, who absets [upsets?] me but whom I can’t avoid. But the time has to be changed to 3-4 O’CLOCK IN THE AFTERNOON, SUMMER TIME, as we have it up here in New York, that is 2-3 o’clock Eastern Standard time. Later on, I may have to go out.

Since I wrote you the last letter, there were a few changes. Perhaps there will be a chance for me to share the office of a doctor, or of a dentist. There are two offers, which one is the right one? Or shall I accept both? Why did the Dentist offer me his office? What does he think of me? How am I able to establish a clientele for these offices? How shall I go about it? Or is there anything else I can do to make a decent living and be happy and successful in my occupation?

Besides all these, I wish to ask you something else. Will the life like reproduction of the Lord’s Supper, which was the life ambition of a dead friend of mine, still be made? By whom, and when, and who sponsors it? Please give me your directions on how to concentrate on your work at the time of your reading. May I do some sewing while I concentrate. It is very hard for me to sit still for one hour.
