GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have those conditions and the body here, [2288].
-
Now as we find, there are disturbing conditions. These are the effects produced by a disturbed glandular system, in some respects not active enough and in others overactive.
-
Hence a source of infection is produced in the lymph circulation, producing in the joints and locomotories the inclination towards an arthritic and neuritic reaction. One arises from the glandular disturbance, the other is the effect from the attempts of the body in its assimilation.
-
Thus there is a variation in the blood stream as to the characters of the hormones.
-
We find that this disturbance may be eliminated. While the salts and properties that have been taken tend to keep down the disturbance, or pain, we find that the causes are not being eliminated; neither are the disturbances being corrected in the glands of digestion, assimilation or distribution through the system.
-
With the persistent and consistent use of these applications which we will suggest here, we find that the body may be materially aided.
-
The effects in the glandular forces are from the lack of sufficient properties, which may be materially aided through the use of the iodine in the system in the manner which we will indicate.
-
Hence we would take it in the form of Atomidine (which is iodine in an atomic state that is not poisonous to the system). When there are the larger doses, as will be indicated, there will be a quickening of the pulsation, but with the use of the other applications which we will indicate, this disturbance will be brought to near normalcy under the activities of the body.
-
Begin with one minim of Atomidine in half a glass of water each morning before the meal is taken, but each day increase the dosage one minim until eight minims are being taken.
-
Then leave off for three days.
-
Then begin again with the one minim, increasing each day one minim until eight minims are being taken.
-
Then, - on the eighth day in the second series, - take an Epsom Salts Bath; almost a saturated solution, and lie in same in same until there is the absorption of same through the system. Let it be as warm as the body can well stand, having sufficient water to submerge the body in same. In a large tub that would hold fifty gallons of water, put at least twenty pounds of Epsom Salts.
-
Have a thorough rubdown afterward, massaging especially the cerebrospinal system, and through the joints of the extremities, with Peanut Oil.
-
Rest from the Atomidine - after the Bath - for five days. Then begin again in the same manner as first indicated.
-
Continue until the two series are taken. Then have another Epsom Salts Bath, followed by the Peanut Oil rub.
-
After the FIRST there may be the feeling of some little stiffness. After the second Bath there will be little or none. After the third, - with the properties taken in the manner indicated, - it should be eliminated almost entirely.
-
As to the diet, - refrain from any foods carrying any elements as of silicon, lime or the like. Hence not much meats, - unless fish, fowl or lamb.
-
No fried foods of ANY character.
-
Do these, and we will eliminate the SOURCES and causes of these disturbances.
-
We are through for the present.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Edgar:
Your letters of 28th received and greatly appreciated - I have ordered the medicine - as I was unable to obtain it here and you may rest assured that I will give it a fair trial and let you [know?] later how I am doing - I quit smoking for a month and felt wonderfully better at the end of that time, was also taking 300,000 units of vitamin D per day during the time, broke over on smoking but will quit again right away. I had such a ravenous appetite - that I gained 8 lbs. during the months and I cannot stand that. Will let you hear from me later and again many many thanks for your kind interest and help. Will write you later concerning the boy.
R2. 7/15/40 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [2288]:
Dear [2288]
Thanks for yours of the 12th. Dreamed of you last night and your letter this morning, but dreamed I was there for you to give me a physical going over. So am sure yours will help if you give it a fair try out.
Wish you might have been present at our Annual Congress and heard the reports from Dr.’s and laymen as to the good they have gotten from the information.
Hoping you will let me hear and asking to be remembered to the Mrs. and with all good wishes
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce

Dear Mr. Cayce -
I want to talk to you about [2288]. Our Doctor shortage has forced a great deal of work on on him and he has grown steadily worse and now is almost past going.
He took one bottle of the Atomidine and fulfilled other instructions carefully. He felt no improvement at the time - He felt the dosage was not sufficient and wondered if an error had been made in instructions.
[2288] felt your diagnosis was along the right line as he has long believed part of his trouble was metabolic. He would like very much a check reading when you find it convenient. He would like to suggest a few questions such as:
I. What do you think of the Prostate Gland? Is it apparently giving much trouble?
II. Is there any trouble with the stomach or biliary tract such as would follow a gall bladder operation?
III. Would Ertron [sp? Urtron, Par. R6 below] be of any value?
IV. Would a change of climate be beneficial.
V. What suggestions as to diet?
VI. Could there possibly be duodenal ulcer?
I want to thank you for the great pleasure your book has given me. I was so interested that I reviewed it at my Literary Club and there was much interested discussion. Since then two other clubs have discussed it and I have been invited with your sister in Nashville several days ago and she said you would be happy to hear this. [2288] asked me to enclose this check. He overlooked it at the time and doesn’t remember to whom it should be made so will you please take care of this.
I feel [2288] is too young and too valuable to be useless and I will be deeply grateful for your help. Please mention a fee - or any expense we should pay. Our regards to you and Mrs. Cayce -
Sincerely […]
P.S. [2288] has frequent spells of nausea and has fainted twice and scared us badly.
ON MY OWN I wonder if it would be better if we called to Va. Beach. I haven’t suggested it to [2288] but if it would be better he might do it - […]

Dear Mr. Cayce
I am not usually the absent minded one but have been under an unusual strain for past months so you will please excuse my over sight in not enclosing check as I mentioned in my letter just mailed -
Thank you so much My Friend […]
R5. 1/4/44 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. […]:
Mrs. […] …, Ky.
My dear […]
Thank you for yours of the 20th. It is mighty nice to hear from you and [2288] again.
Am sorry that [2288] is having so much trouble and not feeling so good. We are making the appointment for the morning of January 13, 10:30 to 11:30 EWT. Be sure to let me know just where he is at the time and tell him to jot down a question or two that he would like to have asked at the time of the reading.
I suppose you have seen the book THERE IS A RIVER. Since its publication, and two or three articles in various magazines, we are just 4,500 odd readings ahead, so you know we have two or three years of work ahead of us. I do hope we may indeed be the means of a real, real service.
Am standing up under the work so far pretty good. We are all feeling fairly well here. Of course both of the boys are overseas, and we have the grandchildren not so far from us. Each of the boys has a son. One of them is a little over a year old and the other is a little over six months old.
Thanking you a lot for letting me hear from you. I do hope that [2288] will soon be on the improve.
With every good wish, and regards to you both, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce (EC/vw)
R6. 1/7/44 Wife’s letter:
Mrs. […] … Street …, Kentucky
Dear Mr. Cayce -
Thank you for your letter received this morning.
About December 1st [2288] fainted at the Hospital and has been in bed almost every day since - He pushed himself to work longer than he was able but realizes now that to be of service to others he must do some thing for himself - The Drs. here and many in Nashville have gone over him. He has been through Mayos and many times to Hot Springs which has proven a temporary relief.
On Thursday Jan. 13th he will be in bed … St. - our own time will 9:30 to 10:30 - He suggests the following questions:
(1) Is the Prostate Gland giving trouble? Is surgery indicated?
(2) Is there any trouble with the stomach or biliary tract? Such as would follow the removal of the gall bladder (1938)?
(3) Would Urtron [sp? Ertron, Par. R3 above] medication be beneficial?
(4) Would a change of climate be beneficial.
(5) Suggestions as to diet -
He has such an unusual weakness and has lost 15 to 20 lbs - Has fainted once since he has been confined to the house - I do pray that you can help us and have such faith in you that I have made no plans until I hear from you.
