GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2299]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, there are real improvements. To be sure, there are periods when there is still some upsetting in the digestive system; coming more from the combinations taken by the body than from other sources.
-
Do keep the small amounts of the Pepsin with the Milk of Bismuth. Do keep the eliminations better, even though there is the necessity of giving enemas at times. This is much preferable to giving too much laxatives or cathartics. But when laxatives or cathartics are given do alter these between the vegetable and the mineral compounds. A vegetable laxative may be absorbed by the system to advantage, while most of the mineral laxatives if absorbed too much will cause irritation to the central nerve or blood supply and eventually produce a condition in the kidneys, the liver, or heart and lungs, as to become disturbing.
-
Do keep up daily, after the bath, the massage with the equal combination of Mutton Tallow (melted), Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor. Massage these especially over the area of the liver, the kidneys, and the lower portion of the cerebrospinal system - or the sacral and lumbar areas. These massages can be applied by the mother the better if they will be consistently applied.
-
In the diet do give very soon plenty of the fruits and vegetables, but not too much of berries of any nature. For the berries, especially in this vicinity, carry potash to such an extent that these would become rash-producing over this particular body. These may be taken at times but more in the cereal than just the fruit itself. But plums, peaches, apples cooked but not raw, will be well for the body. Fish, fowl and lamb but little or no fried foods for this body.
-
Do these and we will continue to have general improvement for this body.
-
The Bismuth and Pepsin would be given about once every other day; half a teaspoonful of the Bismuth and five drops of the Elixir of Lactated Pepsin stirred together in half a glass of water.
-
But do keep up the eliminations.
-
(Q) What causes continual deep sighing? (A) This is a mental and spiritual reaction and has little or nothing to do with the physical.
-
(Q) What should be done so child will eat foods suggested? (A) Use suggestion and let it be as a game. If there are the types of foods given as indicated, there should be little or no trouble with this body eating. When too much fats or other characters of meats are given than those indicated, you do have trouble.
-
(Q) Are foods such as butter, cream mayonnaise, cheese harmful to the body? (A) Not harmful as, if given in moderation. These should be rather as seasonings for the foods.
-
(Q) Should this body be immunized against diseases; if so which one? (A) Better leave these off, or those other than those that have been administered for the present - until next fall at least.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/18/44 EC gave the third physical reading for her - 1306-3. She had wired asking for check up for [2299] instead, but having already mailed his, kept her appointment.
R2. 4/20/44 Mother [1306]‘s Letter to EC:
“Received [2299]‘s reading this morning. Appreciate it so very much. Have told myself every day since you had your rest in Florida that I’d rite to you that nite and that isn’t exaggerating but each nite passed and I’m just now actually riting. Have had so many things to tell you.
”…[Following paragraph on [3634] was deleted. See 3634-1.]
“I simply mustn’t write so much and yet I’d like to tell you so many little things. Wish there were some way I could talk to you every once in awhile and tell you everything I wanted to. This is so unsatisfactory yet better than nothing.
“When I received the wire on the third asking for questions on [2299] for his April 4th check reading I didn’t know what to think. Naturally, I was tickled and immediately sent my questions. [2299] was beginning to look so puny again. The way he sighs simply worried me frantic so I decided maybe God was helping me by sending you some sort of message to give another reading on [2299]. Then when it had been eight days and I didn’t get the reading I didn’t know what to think. Got out my October reading to see if it mentioned a check reading but it didn’t so decided it was a mistake.
“Then I started reading some of my letters from you (not looking for anything, just reading) and happened to pick up the one that you told me you were setting the date for [2299]‘s reading on April 4th but would give it within a month or so and that would leave April 4th for someone else - then I felt terrible. Was so afraid my wire would upset you. Should have written then and told you I realized the mistake but didn’t get to it. Last Sunday [2299] woke up with a cold and fever. I gave him medicine and enemas but his fever still comes and goes - rub him good with the mixture and burn the croup cup day and night but the cough kept getting deeper and was so worried decided to have a reading on him instead of me the 18th (had no idea you gave a reading on him the 5th). After realizing the mistake I made I knew you had already filled in the vacancy and couldn’t change that late. Now, I’m afraid my second wire confused you even more. Am so sorry I’ve caused so much trouble. Cousin Edgar, you’ll never know how much the readings do mean to me though. Don’t feel as if I could do without them.
“As I said, [2299] has had a temperature since Sunday and this morning he wouldn’t even get up - had a temperature of 102 so after I got the reading and saw it was given on the fifth I decided to go to Dr. J. E. Stone and have him test [2299]‘s lungs. Afraid he was going into pneumonia but the Dr. said it wasn’t that bad - said it was bronchitis and gave me a prescription for some pink powders. I came home and told mother and [1352] I was afraid to put those in [2299]‘s stomach but they thought it best to try to break up the cold rather than take a chance of his getting worse. Couldn’t read the prescription but one word looked like sulph - something - know it was one of the sulphur drugs. Have given him 2 powders and almost feel like I’m giving him poison. Please, Cousin Edgar, do you think they will harm his stomach either temporarily or permanently? The Drs. know nothing of [2299]‘s digestive trouble. [2299]‘s so thin (weighs 30 pounds - [3634] weighs 29) he looks like a puff of wind would knock him over. I never let him know, of course, what I think. Encourage him all I can. I don’t mean to be bragging but [2299]‘s so serious and grown up. Talks about things that children ordinarily never think of at his age. He’s so sensitive, too.”
R3. 4/25/44 Telegram wired from Mother [1306] to EC:
[2299] NO BETTER HAVE GIVEN ENEMAS AND BROKEN DOSES SYRUP PEPSIN FOR SEVERAL DAYS IF POSSIBLE GIVE READING QUESTIONS NUMBER ONE WHAT IS CAUSING PAIN UNDER LEFT RIB NUMBER TWO WHAT CAN BE GIVEN TO EASE COUGHING SPELLS WIRE COLLECT
R4. 4/29/44 EC’s letter to mother [1306]:
“It was nice to hear from you on the phone the other day, but I am sorry to know that the boys are not well.
“I hope you will pardon me for not writing you oftener, or writing you about the boys when we sent the reading. I believe if you will follow through with the suggestions that I gave you the other day, you will get results. Be sure and let me hear about it, and if it is at all possible, if necessary, we will undertake to get another check-up for [2299] and [3634] either. But we are just so busy and it is so hard to make places for readings, that we have just reached the saturation point.
“For the last four or five days we have not been giving any readings. Miss Gladys and her helper are so far behind on transcribing the readings that we have gotten, that we had to wait for them to catch up.
“Tell [1352] it’s about time I was hearing from her. Understand Dr. Beard has been out of town, but I would take [3634] to see her as soon as she is back, for if you don’t get those corrections now, he is going to be a sufferer many, many years, without a doubt.
“Thanks, and with lots of love from everyone, I remain…”
