This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce in Selma, Ala. (?), this 24th day of June, 1922, in accordance with request made by Mrs. [232].

1. EC: Yes, here we have the body here, Mrs. [232] of whom we are speaking. We find that there are many conditions that are abnormal in the body to a degree, we find others that are abnormal produced by reflex conditions, when the real condition lies subnormal. We find conditions in the body that have to do not only with the physical forces, but also with the spiritual forces of the body. The body itself is good, above the ordinary as an anatomical study. We have an unusual body to deal with, especially those organisms having to do with the sympathetic and the sensory systems or the sensory organism, which is a branch working on connection with these. Some portions of the body have become supersensitive - this is from the ultra conditions existing in the body at the present time. We have to deal with conditions that have existed from years back and these must be taken into consideration in considering the anatomical conditions in the body. Now, these are the conditions as we find in this body here.

2. First, in the circulation we find the forces of the blood itself above normal for a body of its age, but for one of this condition it is excellent. Yet, it carries often much that should not be carried in the circulation. There is much of the lymph carried here that should be carried through the lymphatic circulation rather than through the venous circulation. There is a stronger arterial circulation than we find under ordinary conditions - this has been produced by a supersensitive organism through the solarplexus and left here. The heart action is good. The over sensitive forces that appear here are along the diaphram and are not produced by heart action, as has been told, but are produced from conditions existing between the cerobrospinal forces and the action of the spleen in its destruction of the red blood cells that have been used. Now, this is just one of the conditions appearing throughout the body, not a condition of diseased forces, but one appearing from time to time and expressing itself in the body and producing others in the circulation which causes a tingling of the extremities. This reaction of plasmatic cells show through the arterial forces, when leaving the heart, and through the capilliary forces in their return. This is not heart action, but supersensitive forces as expressed by the solarplexus in its action over the heart. They are reached through connection with the cardiac plexus just above.

3. In the nerve system we find as is produced that carrying some of the forces that are to be corrected in the body at the present time. We first began with a highly nervous state and the taking of too much food into the body when it was mad, causing nervous indigestion. The gastric juices produced through the nerves of the stomach too much acid to the digestive organs and we had intestinal indigestion rather than digestive disturbances of the stomach. Toxins were forced back into the system, closing the lobes of the liver, then the body suffered with constipation, producing too much of the forces to act in the right channels through the colon. As these were corrected, we corrected the conditions as existing in the intestinal tract and left the real cause here in the duodenum. Reflexly these show their action in the condition at the fifth dorsal and a lesion is formed here. Nature and the spiritual forces attempted to correct this forming the lesion at the fifth dorsal. This caused a contraction of the muscular forces that began first with the condition in the throat that caused the trouble and there was a constant wish to swallow and a dryness of the throat. The lotions did no good, but produced within the same condition which produced in the sensory organism the condition of the head and eyes.

4. To correct this condition we must begin, not with the correction of the conditions of the head, but with the correction of the stomach. We begin by placing things in the stomach that will correct the condition, as we find in the stomach itself the medicinal chest of the entire system, and by the taking of proper foods for the system we can and will create all that is needed in the way of curative powers in the body.

5. Medicine itself does not heal, but it must be taken at times, as we will give here. First take this into the system:

Senna…3 grains, Dovers Powders…2 grains, Cascara (dry, not compound)…1 grain. This is a dose.

6. The action of this is to be on the nervous system and to carry the proper incentive to the juices and saliva to act in proper form and to provide the correct digestion.

7. After taking this into the system three weeks, we will then begin the exercises to the body to relieve the condition along the upper dorsals and the lower cervicals, and that would be by relieving through deep manipulation - osteopathically and not with chiropractic treatment. No adjustment is needed in this body, only relaxation of the muscular forces to allow the congestion to be removed as we have prepared for in the system. The circulation will take care of the condition. As this is now in the system we will create the vibratory forces needed to rejuvenate all of the muscular forces and nerve forces supplying to the sensory organisms.

8. First give the medicinal properties, after that we will begin with the osteopathic forces deeply seated along the upper dorsals and allow just sufficient to the rest of the body to give relaxation.

9. Then we would use the ultra violet rays [high frequency violet ray hand machine?] along the first cervical to the sixth dorsal. The treatment of that will be every other day for ten minutes.

10. Do this and we find we will relieve the conditions existing in the body and also the conditions in the eyes.

11. This body will live to be very old, nearly one hundred years.

R2. 5/26/24 She wrote: “In my limited vocabulary I can not find words to suitably express my appreciation of your kindness to read for me. [See 232-2.] Oh, so many thanks, indeed! I thank you!

“References to the first reading [232-1] are true. I will repeat treatment as given in first rdg. Can get the violet ray here, may have to run over to Montgomery for the osteopathic treatment. The nerve plexus between shoulders where you said a lesion had formed gave me much pain during the winter. I took a few treatments of the violet ray, the relief was certainly wonderful. Within the next few days I will begin treatment and trust to get it this time in a consecutive way as you prescribed or directed. I feel sure I will be benefited.

“The general condition of eyes is so much better, and the focus of sight is about one or two degrees more distant - I feel sure you will be pleased to learn of this - but of course my eyes are still weak.

“My general condition is better than for many years. Can eat any diet almost with no fear of unpleasant results, but do refrain from overeating meats because of the effects mentioned in last reading. The last prescription [in 232-2] will be all that will be necessary. Many thanks.

R3. 7/17/24 She wrote: “My delay has been caused by not being able to get Saffron to have the prescription filled [in 232-2]. After writing to distant places I finally procured it and just had it filled. When tested I will acquaint you with results.

“Have just recovered from a spell of severe headache which of course affected my eyes. The water here contains lime and magnesia. Am inclined to believe these elements bring on the condition you are trying to overcome. I hear others complain of same. Think I’ll restrict my diet to that of the simplest kind, but can eat most anything with perfect comfort, no fermentation, heartburn or similar condition. I am constrained to believe the muscles and nerves of stomach are just too weak to function properly.” [She stated she was not financially able yet to go to another town for the osteopathic treatment.]

R4. 8/6/24 She wrote: “Am writing you concerning the last treatment you prescribed for me [in 232-2]. It is the best I have ever used. Am sure by using it for a while the present condition will be corrected. It is simply FINE.

“Yesterday I read the first rdg. for me [232-1] and I know every syllable of it is true, absolutely true, and I am so anxious to have it as suggested, but am sure the expense would be at least fifty or maybe seventy-five dollars and I can’t possibly do this now. Have recently taken four treatments of the violet ray. It helped me, oh so much, but if your prophecy in regard to an increase of finance this fall materializes [as stated in 232-2], I’ll certainly have the treatment in full, believing it will produce the desired results.”

R5. 9/18/24 She wrote: “Just a line to tell you how well I am after using your last prescription [in 232-2]. My system is absolutely normal; have never known medicine to have such effect. Also to thank you for your kind offer to assist me [with an additional rdg.] when necessary.

“My eyes are still weak, but feel sure when financially able to get the treatment this will be overcome also.”

R6. 10/4/24 She wrote: “I have never felt better in my life.”

R7. 5/15/25 She wrote expressing interest in rdgs. of the [3744] series on psychic phenomena: “I have always been interested greatly in things mystical. I never tire searching the very depths of the unknown mysteries that have been veiled from us during past ages.

“Was in an auto mash-up sometime ago; fractured right hand, can hardly hold pen.”

R8. 6/16/26 She wrote: “My eyes are about run down and nerves, too, as you will observe [from my handwriting]. Doctor has me on liquid diet - milk and eggs four times a day. Am getting on very nicely, though.”

R9. 6/23/27 She wrote: “I haven’t been at all well since last Oct.” [She wrote of her son being in auto accident, narrowly escaping death.]

R10. 5/28/30 She wrote a friendly letter, as she had done almost monthly throughout the years: “Haven’t heard from you good folk in several months, so I decided to pen a few words of inquiry as to health, prosperity, etc.”
