EC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes - we have the body here, [2342].
-
As we find, there are disturbing conditions which prevent the better normal functioning. Though these may appear general in their nature, the character of disturbance produced at times becomes very acute.
-
It is the disturbance between the metabolism of the eliminations. Of course, this produces some disturbance in the metabolism of the blood circulation, but lack of coordination between the eliminating systems is the source or cause of the disturbances through this body.
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [2342] we are speaking of:
-
The blood supply indicates the very nature of the disturbance, as in the eliminating systems. Thus we have a form of strep that oft produces inflammation in the rash that is indicated over portions of the body; at times on exposed parts, at others upon the feet, limbs and body, - not in excess, but at times causing a great deal of disturbance.
-
In the nerve system, - here we find the sources or causes, as well as effects. For, pressures are one of the contributory causes of the condition; for we find a subluxation in the area from the 9th dorsal to the 1st and 2nd dorsal causes this disturbance through the eliminating and assimilating system. Thus at times the system, from the nervous reactions, easily becomes upset. At times the body becomes rather easily irritated; at others the ability to sleep is affected, and at others it puts the body to sleep apparently, but spasmodically rather than systematically.
-
As to the activities of the organs of the body, - these we find as yet have NOT become seriously involved; though through the throat and nasal passages there are the effects more than at times indicated outwardly in other portions of the functioning organs.
-
Hence each of these should be considered in their relationship to the whole disturbance; while in the general welfare the specific conditions must be taken into considerations also.
-
First, then, in making the corrections as indicated of those pressures that upset the whole body, -
-
We would have from six to ten osteopathic adjustments, with special reference to the areas indicated; coordinating the lower dorsal, or the lumbar and sacral and lower dorsal, AND the cervical, WITH the corrections through that area from the 9th to the 3rd and 4th.
-
As a purifier for the blood system, - that is, - to effect in the activity of the alimentary canal a better coordination with stimulation through the general organs of the system by the osteopathic adjustments, - we would prepare this combination:
Sulphur…2 level tablespoonsful, Rochelle Salts…2 level tablespoonsful, Cream of Tartar…2 level tablespoonsful.
Mix these ingredients together THOROUGHLY, - this means many, many times ground and pounded together, with mortise and pestle or the like. This compound would be taken in combination with the osteopathic adjustments, you see; they should be coordinant one with the other, The dose would be a level teaspoonful each morning, before any meal is taken, either plain or in water, or in a syrup if desired. Continue until the whole quantity is taken, even though it follows long after the osteopathic treatments have been completed.
-
Be mindful of the diet. Refrain from too much sweets. Refrain from fried foods. These as we find are the general DON’TS:
-
DON’T eat fried foods. DON’T eat too much sweets. DON’T eat very much of white bread or white potatoes.
-
As to the rest of the diet, keep a normal, well balanced diet.
-
Doing these, we will find we will remove the causes of the headaches, - that arise from this upsetting of the digestion or the stomach; and the adjustments of these will cause better eliminations, purifying the system and aiding the body in better blood building.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes severe headaches and backache? (A) As indicated, - poisons producing pressures upon the nervous system; especially making for those irregularities in the activities of the kidneys, as well as the liver. These produce the severe headaches, as well as the conditions existing in the superficial circulation, the tiredness, the languidness, and all of those conditions as indicated.
Do as we have given, and we will bring better conditions in every manner for this physical body.
- We are through for the present.

R1. 9/15/40 (Sunday Night) Mother-in-law’s [Mrs. [464]] letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce -
The folks were very much pleased with the Reading and […] [wife] will write to you later and give a report -
[2144] will be married on the 28th - I will miss her Oh! So Much.
It rains almost every day and is none too warm. Not much sunshine very poor crop of fruit and vegetables. My nerves are on the ragged edge these days - don’t feel so good. [2342] was ready to come home he is not well tonight. Says his head aches so gave him a dose of castoria. Did I write and tell you that [2342] gave some of his blood to a woman who was sick and the doctor said he never saw such blood - it wouldn’t run. The woman got benefit from it. I said to […] [wife] [2342]‘s blood is too thick for himself but it made the woman better. The Dr. tried one arm and the blood wouldn’t come out - then he tried the other and it came out slowly and Dr. told the nurse to keep shaking it - the bottle. Next one to get a Reading will be […] [[2342]‘s wife]. Her face is all broken out and […] [Husband] and I both have always had nice clear skin.
You will hear from [2342] and […] [his wife] as soon as the treatment shows some difference.
Regards to all - Mrs. [464]
R2. 9/23/40 Mrs. [464]‘s letter: “[2342] is going to start the osteopathic treatments tomorrow night and he is doing fine on the sulphur, cream of tartar and salts. I am keeping my eye on him.”
R3. 10/3/40 “He is feeling better now. He has had three osteopathic treatments. Dr. has a divided table and straps him down and yanks him this way and that way and keeps working over the shins in the places indicated in the reading. Dr. wanted to know all about the Dr. who advised him about the treatments, wanted to know if he is an osteopath. Well, the Dr. sailed right in on [2342] and said the spinal trouble is a result of a bad fall he had at one time, which he did have.”
R4. 10/14/40 (10-30 PM) Mother-in-law, Mrs. [464]‘s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce
I told […] [his wife] that she or [2342] should write to you & tell you what progress [2342] is making. He took 6 Osteopathic treatments and felt fine after them but his back bothers him at times again. The Dr. only gave him 6 treatments & said that was enough but if he had any more trouble to come back but he has not gone back he had a bad headache again two nights ago. He is still taking the Sulphur Salts and cream of tartar. I keep my eye on him he has an awful time with his diet [2342] likes to eat and he has so many banquets to attend in connection with his work and they go out to parties and these midnight lunches play hob with his stomach his new job kind of makes him a little nervous. He is so anxious to make good on it.
We have been having grand weather rained last night and cooler to-day.
We will let you know from time to time how [2342] gets along. That is a wonderful gift you have. I often wish I was something besides a dumb bell to miss out on everything is just too bad.
kind regards to all
Mrs. [464]
R5. 6/6/42 Mrs. [464] wrote that Mr. [2342] had taken on a big new job in Michigan and was getting on fine.
