This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at Phillips Hotel, Room 115, Dayton, Ohio, this 14th day of May, 1924, in accordance with request made by self - Dr. [235].

1. EC: Now, we find the conditions in this body are very good throughout, both in the physical and in the spiritual and soul forces of this body. There are some conditions in the physical that may be brought nearer to their normal functioning. These have to do, especially, with the emunctories of the system. In this physical body we have a good exemplification and manifestation of the influence of the indwelling I AM in the physical and its manifestations to be given to others. In this also we have one above the normal in that of one given to the psychic or the inner dwelling force and ability to impart and awaken in others.

2. In the physical we find as these conditions. First:

3. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY IN THE SYSTEM, we find this very good, and well balanced in both white and red blood supply. There is in the emunctories of the liver supply and of the kidney supply, in the whole circulation of these organs, that which makes the strain to the system, and this needs be corrected through specific manner and suggestions from self or from those incentives that will produce the normal functioning of these organs, especially through the emunctory circulation.

4. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this we find very good. There are few of the organs that show any exaggerated functioning or of being taxed beyond the ability to endure and to obtain the coagulation necessary from system to rebuild to its normal condition. Hence the well balanced forces here.

5. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, we find as these:

6. First, in the brain forces body very good, and is given one that is developed beyond the normal to those of the psychic forces.

7. Organs of the sensory system very good and in keeping with the conditions as are produced in system, and well balanced with the usage of vitamins in system.

8. Lungs, larynax, bronchials very good.

9. Heart action normal.

10. Digestive tract we have had in times back conditions that have existed in the digestive tract, especially in the cardiac end of the stomach proper, that have produced in the upper portion of the system those conditions that brought distress at times. These have been eliminated, simply leaving their expression as is given and shown in the functioning of the system.

11. In the liver the condition as we have given and is shown in the whole hepatic circulation. Throughout the body need for the physical only is that which will bring to the hepatic circulation and to the emunctories proper the equalization of eliminating forces as created through the circulation of the hepatics, so that the circulation, the capillaries and both the anterior and posterior circulation may become easily equalized and easily to obtain its equilibrium, both at rest and at labor of mind or body. In this we will find that the suggestions, as given, to that portion of the system direct, to reach and control that specific condition from self as expressed in the I AM, may modify and correct the conditions from within self.

12. Do that. Keep well in that way that leads to the mark of the higher calling, as is set in Him.

“All psychic powers that can be used to help mankind are both valuable and interesting, and although both Mrs. [4562] and I are in good health we learned something from the rdgs. and found them interesting. However, it would seem to me, since you desire frank expressions, that your real power or gift lies in your ability to diagnose obscure and difficult cases of seemingly incurable disease. This opinion I base on what you told me of your wife’s hopeless condition and your boy’s eye trouble, also the case of appendicitis, so called. Doubtless you have other cases. To have one gift is wonderful and to me your power lies in that direction rather than in any astrological line. I would suggest not spreading out in various lines but reserving the power for that one line of work, that of diagnosis. Of course, I know that cases of that kind are not of every day recurrence, but it might be all that you would care to undertake with due regard to your own health, and in that way it would leave you free to engage in some other line of work for a living, because your psychic work could be limited to evenings or certain occasions. So many people fail financially and in every other way when they immerse themselves in big enterprises.

R4. 6/3/24 EC wrote Dr. [235]: “Thank you for the frank statements relative to my work and your findings. Since being convinced of any value in this work, I have always felt that the greatest possibilities were in the ability to assist where seemingly all other efforts had failed. For, as Dr. Hugo Munsterberg once said, if I had been the means of restoring only one person, and that person was his son or child, to him it was the greatest thing in the world. [See Prof. Dietrich’s little daughter’s case report [2473].] Naturally it means, has been, just that to me. However, I do not want to try to force my views into the life of some other individual, unless I can be of service and assist such an one to awaken to the divine within himself.

“For a number of years I have attempted to do other work and at the same time to lend myself, from time to time, to the assistance of others through these readings. The work for others grew so much that I began to feel that my entire time should be devoted to it. Perhaps I was called too soon, or got up without being called [September 1923]. Still, I can’t help but feel that, if I am giving myself to the service of others, there should be sufficient monetary returns from it to take care of the needs of the physical.

“I agree with you regarding the other portions of the work and think that the farthest I can stay away from things which do not lend to the awakening of the divine, the better off I will be in every way. However, with all of us, the greater portion of our lives is spent seeking out those things we may and may not do, or that we can but must not do.

“I am most glad to know that the information for yourself and Mrs. [4562] was at least informative and interesting. I hope that at some future day I may have the pleasure of meeting both of you again and talking over some of the great truths we each have learned.”
