This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of October, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2379], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [257].

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2379].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here, these are chosen with the desire and purpose that this be a helpful influence in the experience of the entity; enabling the entity to analyze its purposes and its desires, to magnify the virtues and minimize the faults.

4. Thus the entity may fill that for which it entered the earth’s plane at this time; that there may be the full completion of that willingness of the spiritual force to ever be willing that each soul might return to its Maker.

5. In giving influences latent and manifested, and as may be drawn from astrological aspects as well as sojourns in the earth, some of those make that as a composite expression; in that the entity succeeds in most any line of endeavor in making a profit, and yet nothing that is wholly of a commercial nature is of interest, or fills the interest (as might better be termed) of the entity.

6. This might better be done in music, good books, writing, and especially history. The entity would have made a good teacher of history. The entity could have made those preparations for being a historian, which has been a part of the entity’s experience - as we shall see.

7. In the present line of endeavor the entity may succeed; PROVIDED this CAN be made to be first choice in self’s endeavors; otherwise, in any field in which there would be the entertainment features, - as moving picture producing, or moving picture management even would be well; for these are more in keeping with that which is innate within the experience of the entity.

8. For, there are the interests in the unusual, in facts, and in figures, and quotations of many various forms that are of history making nature. These are of a special interest and EASY for the entity to keep tab of in its own mind.

9. At times the entity is too self-centered. Give more, than demanding so much of others. Forgive if you would be forgiven. For, with what measure you mete it is measured to you again.

10. In the astrological aspects we find that Venus, Jupiter, Mercury and Mars all become a part of influences.

11. As in Venus, - quite an interesting individual to the opposite sex, more than they interest the entity. An appreciation of beauty, of music, of all things beautiful, - whether it be of nature or those things that are merely patterns of such.

12. In Jupiter we find the interest in, and the ability to comprehend many groups; and a study of group psychology, mass or mob psychology, is of interest to the entity.

13. We find in Mercury the high mental ability. But think not too much of self. This is a tendency. And watch self in this direction, if the better advantages, the better opportunities would come to the entity. Know that, as has been said by Him who knew, he that is the servant of all is the ruler of all.

14. In Mars, as well as in Uranus, we find both good and bad; the abilities to be so sarcastic as to make it unpleasant for those whom the entity appears to overlord; and brings anger that finds a reflection in those things more that bring about disturbances, unsettlements within the mental self, rather than that as may be seen in material activities from the surface.

15. As to the appearances of the entity in the earth, - these, as may be indicated from the characteristics, are not so many (that influence the entity in the present); yet these are very varied and very definite influences in the experiences of the entity.

16. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, in the early settlings in the land.

17. The entity was among those who traded not only with the natives or the Indians of the land, but with those in other lands also.

18. Hence that which is a part of the wanderlust that oft takes hold of the entity, and causes it to search out interesting places that it would like to see and to learn something of the inhabitants and the activities of the natives of such varied or out of the way places.

19. Also there is the interest in, and the ability to judge, wood or furniture, or those activities having to do with home and home building. All of these become a part of the experience from those activities of the entity in that sojourn, - as Eugene McClaire.

20. The entity gained, the entity lost; gained when there were the purposefulnesses in being of help or aid to others; while the self-indulgence and self-aggrandizement brought disturbance and disputations.

21. Before that the entity was in the Grecian land during that era in which there was the gathering of data respecting not only Greece but other lands as to what we know as the Greek poets, the Greek literature that is called the classics; in collaboration with the period of Herodotus, - in the name then Hipodidodumus.

22. The entity was one of those who set the types of the writings, or the manners in which poems, odes and sonnets would be written; making them six or fourteen lines as completion of any idea in a sentence, and much of that which is a part of the historical making manner was set by the entity and its associate through that experience.

23. Hence the wiseacres, or unusual individuals or personalities are of interest; or just to sit and listen at a group, or to those who have had unusual experiences, becomes that to which the entity would give itself - from the NATURAL tendencies of those experiences in the Grecian land; as well as the appreciations of those things especially as to figures, forms or manners, - whether they be in people, in things, in vases, in urns, in furniture, in statuary, in whatever model or form. These are of special interest.

24. And these are then those outlets or channels, as indicated, that may be of help to the entity, if there is the decision to leave off present activities; though, as indicated, in most any field the entity chooses the success may be attained materially. But do not let the material success deteriorate the mental and spiritual aspirations of the entity.

25. Thus it is well to seek to know, to understand, what the ideals are, - as to spiritual, as to mental, as to material. In relationships, in companionships, in every form of communication, know WHO is the author of thy faith, thy confidence, thy purpose, thy desire. If it is of self, be careful. If it is of the spirit, hold fast. If it is of truth, keep it ever!

26. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, in those periods when there were the turmoils and strifes. The entity looked on. Though classed among the wise men of the day, the entity attempted to side neither with those who followed the Priest nor the King, nor the King’s counselors.

27. Yet, with the incoming of those peoples from the Atlantean land, THIS aroused the entity to definite activities. It was then THIS entity, through the associates, the acquaintances, who insisted upon the Priest’s being put back into authority. Thus the wiles that were used, - as the cries of the common people, the cries of the natives, the rebellions of the Atlanteans as well as those of the King’s own household who rebelled, - all of these were used by the entity as reasons, as means for inducing, for demanding that there be the return of the Priest.

28. Thus in those associations the entity grew to be a helpful force in the dispensation, or dispensing and dispersing of the disagreeable conditions, and the building of that which brought the harmonious forces; enabling those in positions or authority to cooperate with those of other lands in bringing the greater period of rest and peace that the earth has known save in one small land.

29. The name than was Dul-Extop.

30. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain, and how:

31. First, - find thy ideal; and study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the words of truth, and keeping self unspotted from the world; that is, condemning none that ye be not condemned thyself.

32. In whatever activity may be chosen, you may succeed - as has been indicated.

33. But as an assistant, or as one helping to produce any type of entertainment of historical natures is well.

34. In the present environment and present business we find very good activities, PROVIDED the entity can satisfy self in same.

35. Ready for questions.

36. (Q) Am I in the right branch of the business in which I am now engaged? (A) As indicated.

37. (Q) What can I expect from the following people with whom I am in different ways associated? First, J. E. Broyhill? (A) This question presents an example of that being attempted to be pointed out to the entity here. The attitude should not be so much as to what YOU may expect of them, but what THEY may expect of you! THAT is the measure by which ye had better measure such. For, as ye mete, as ye think, as ye act, it will come back to thee.

There are opportunties in this connection or association; but not as an advantageous one at the expense of the other in either direction! COOPERATION here would mean much. It depends upon how much dependence each may put in the other then.

38. (Q) R. P. Connally? (A) The same might be said here; though the circumstances and conditions are somewhat different, of course. For there is a dependence of a nature not indicated in associations with others. But the analysis of such might better be made by the paralleling of purposes and activities of each (through his having his own Life Reading, you see).

39. (Q) B. W. Streiffler? (A) This is a very good association.

40. (Q) J. F. Robineau? (A) Be mindful of those things wherein the disputations might cause misunderstandings.

41. (Q) John Postler? (A) Not so good. Remember, in all of these - as has been indicated - analyze thy purposes, thy hopes and thy desires. And as ye analyze, as for the ideal, - it is not so much to be considered what others may do for you, but as to what you may do for others.

This has been a fault, - that ye expect much more from others than ye demand of thyself toward thy fellow man! Is this right? Is this justice in self?

Remember, as indicated, - keep thyself unspotted from condemnation.

Dear Miss Turner:

I wish to apologize for having so long delayed answering your letter of April 17th, but I have been away from … much of the time.

Perhaps the best way to answer your questions regarding my reading will to actually answer those you asked in order.

In general I believe the reading was very accurate. This is particularly true about the questions I asked about individuals. I have been associated with one of these individuals since January, 1941 and this has been a very happy and productive association. The other individuals mentioned have worked out just about as analyzed by Mr. Cayce.

I believe the statement that I would succeed materially in most every kind of endeavor is probably true, although I have done but one thing since the reading.

I also believe that I have not found the material “profit” alone sufficient to fill my interest, and suffer considerable unrest because of this fact.

I have found little interest in music, good books, writing, perhaps because there has been little or no time for them. There has been no urge to teach. My interest in the unusual has not been apparent, nor much interest in history. I believe many others think me too demanding and perhaps too self-centered.

There has been no interest in movie picture production or thought of it. I also doubt if the opposite sex finds me more interesting than I find them. I believe that I find it easy to comprehend groups, although I have shown little interest in mass or group psychology.

The spiritual advise [advice] given is easily understood. I also find that without question I have succeeded most when I have been cooperative and helpful to others. I believe that this attitude has been a most important part of my happy and successful business relationship with Mr. J. E. Broyhill.

Unfortunately I have been so immersed in the day to day problems of making a living that I probably have not done things suggested that might have been helpful. With this, and probably as a result of this I suffer considerable unrest and dissatisfaction with what I do.
