[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Dr. [2380].]
Time of Reading 11:45 to 12:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
-
GC: You will have before you the entity, Dr. [2380], present in this room, together with the directions which he has received from spiritualistic sources directing him to build a hospital. You will consider the steps he has taken and the conditions that have arisen. You will advise him as to just what steps he should take now in financing this project, and if possible just what individuals to contact who will assist in this work. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [2380]; together with those instructions and directions.
-
These as we find are well in keeping with that as should be the means, the manners, for enabling a study to be made under ideal circumstances respecting the beneficent effect from the unseen or universal forces, and sources.
-
The place that has been directed, and chosen, is well; not only being an ideal location for such an undertaking but under those facilities and conditions that are permissible also from the legal phases.
-
In advising those activities for the present:
-
First we would consult with those who have such an institution in the same State. These can give a great deal of help and counsel, and are in the same line of thought. Falls - William A. Falls, Glenrose [Glen Rose].
-
As for those connections in financing, - consult the Vice-President of MGM, Hollywood - William A. Goetz; and we will find - with a little persistence - a ready ear for the consideration of same.
-
Also his associates will be interested; not only because of the advantages that may be had for a philanthropic work but also the preparations for a portion of such an undertaking - a home for the old and infirm from the industry.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Do I understand you want me to write MGM? (A) See them - don’t write! And see William A. Goetz!
-
(Q) Shall I also see Falls in Glenrose personally? (A) See the whole institution in Glenrose [Glen Rose]. For, this is developed along these lines.*
-
(Q) Is this Glenrose, Texas? (A) Glenrose [Glen Rose], Texas; yes.
-
We are through for the present.
Two copies to Dr. [2380] Copy to Ass’n file
(See letter [which was enclosed] of introduction to Walter Goetz, nephew of Wm. A. Goetz.)
- [5/17/63 GD’s note: Mr. J. Everett Irion, formerly of Dallas, Texas, just told me that he knew of the health place at Glen Rose, Texas. He went through Glen Rose sometime after World War II and the health place was still there. He couldn’t remember the name of it, nor the name of the man who started it - he only knew that the man had been healed by the mineral baths, etc., and had built up the institution, though he was not a doctor.]

B1. 9/19/40 [2380]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce
Greetings in Aumin [?]
At the suggestion of Miss Florence Campbell [Nurmerologist] of … Street, New York City I am writing my story with hopes you can assist this matter.
Some years ago the Spirit opened a plan for me to build a sanitarium.
Last year I was told the time was ready and to search for a location.
I made a trip thru the country and was speaking to a real estate agent in Corpus Christi. Being overheard a young lad, an architect, he asked me if I had plans. I told him no as the men I talked to could not understand my vision. He said tell it to me. A month later he sent me complete ground plans just as I saw it.
I then was led to a tract of land 65 miles west of San Antonio, Texas which was perfect for my needs.
I then obtained complete estimates of building a [and] equipping $400,000.
This is to be a Naturopathic-Metaphysical Health and Recreation Reserve and School. The name given me is
Aum’sville
This as you know means Village of God.
The capacity is 750 patients.
At 15.00 to 18.00 per week for room, board, nursing and all recreational sports the poor man can obtain a place to go to. At that figure I can pay 17% interest - …[?] the initial investment over 10 years and place $75,000 a year away for increasing our usefulness.
Now, everything is prepared and the next step is to find the person or persons to finance.
The Spirit would not plan things so careful and bring plans so perfectly organized if this was not one to finance.
There is here in America the person to do this and Miss Campbell tells me you have the power to obtain from Spirit the name, and address of the one I should see and how to reach this individual.
Will you please let me hear from you at earliest opportunity so that His plans can be accomplished.
Wishing you the peace of God and the understanding of Christ
I remain
Sincerely, Dr. [2380]
B2. GD’s note: I assume Dr. [2380] was a naturopathic physician, although he listed his occupation as “Occult Teacher.” He did not list his religious preference, although his name sounded German - perhaps Hebrew.
B3. 9/20/40 EC’s letter to [380]:
Dear Dr. [2380]
Have yours of the 19th - and am very much interested in your undertaking from many angles, but just whether the information will be able to help or not do not know will be most happy to help if possible. Am sending under separate cover data relative to the work here. Read it over carefully then if you feel that you would like for me to try it will be glad to make an appointment for you - but feel this should be at a time when you might be present - either when I am in N.Y. or you can make a visit to Va. Beach. The Idea, the NAME, and the place are all most interesting. Would like to ask if I might who the young man was who drew the plans for you. [GD’s note: I think Mr. Cayce thought perhaps the young man was Mrs. Cayce’s nephew, Lynn Augustus Evans, a young architect who lived in Corpus Christi, Texas.] Hoping to hear from you and to have the opportunity to talk the matter over with you
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
B4. 9/23/40 [2380]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce
Dear Sir,
Your letter in answer to mine received, also the circulars.
Under no circumstance could I at the present time pay $20.00 membership fee.
Aumsville is God’s plan and He will work it out. If you can be of any assistance, as per my letter your services will be taken care of as the law is definite “nothing for nothing”.
For every service there is a reward, for every reward a service.
The architect’s name is Noonan, Corpus Christi, Texas.
Kindly inform me when you will be in N.Y.C.
Please excuse paper, just discovered I wrote on the line sheet of the tablet.
Sincerely yours,
In service for the Master
B5. 9/25/40 EC’s letter to [2380]:
Dear Dr. [2380]
Have yours of the 23rd - think you misunderstood me - I merely sent you the data that you might know the character of the work here.
Would be glad to be of help if possible
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
B6. 10/2/40 [2380]‘s letter to EC:
