This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, this 7th day of December, 1910.

[Edgar Cayce; L. B. Cayce, Conductor; Addie L. P”Pool, Steno. Miss [243].]

Time of Reading 10:00 A. M. …, Ky.

  1. LBC: You are now asleep and you will be able to tell us what we want to know. You have before you Miss [243], who is in the room with you, in this room now. She is before you.

  2. EC: Miss [243].

  3. LBC: Yes, she is before you, you will see her. [243].

  4. EC: Yes, here we have her, we have had her before.

  5. LBC: Yes. Well, go over her carefully and examine her thoroughly and tell us what is the matter with her, if anything.

  6. EC: Heap of difference now from what we had before.

  7. LBC: Tell us what the condition is now.

  8. Begin here at the top of the head, we have a tightness here of the skin itself to the head; right around to the back here, where it is hard (I don’t mean the bone under it, but the skin in itself), just above the first cervical, close around the turn of the head, just opposite from the cerebellum. This is produced from the drawing of the nerves and muscular fibre around the facial nerves and muscles here from the front; this produces pains. The straining of the eyes, into the nasal passages to the sympathetics, to the eyes has produced the tightness or drawing, pulling, opposite from these pains to the cervical - first and second.

  9. The body is not sick, it is the nerve force and nerves and muscles that have produced the condition into the whole system you see.

  10. We have down at the fourth to the fifth to the sixth and seventh dorsal then, (in the dorsals) lesions here producing this affectation here to the locomotory here, you see, down in the lumbar and dorsal - thence to the seventh and eighth dorsal. This produces, at times, pains through the sympathetics to the solar plexus nerve centers and produces dizziness to the head; that is produced from overstrain to the whole body and mind. We have an overtaxation of its own strength, at times, for the gray matter in the nerve force; the white acts a plenty but it overacts the force and supply to the brain.

  11. We produce a run-down condition to the whole system; we have plenty of rebuilding forces. We have some cold through the lower part of the lungs, producing congestion and pains just below the thorax and in the chest but that is from reflection and from cold taken internally and not from the trouble we have here; that is local, aggravated and excited by the condition of the nerve forces and will produce a choking up of the cells of the lungs, unless the energy in itself throws this off. A condition in the pelvis produces these pains.

  12. The spine from the eighth to the ninth and sixth and seventh dorsal almost all the time is cold outside. This is caused from a a lack of circulation of the body or of the forces supplying it through the internal passages, instead of along the cerebro-spinal or through the sympathetic system, you see.

  13. In the rest of the condition in the body you find, of course, we have some sympathetics through the hepatic circulation, which produces the same things through the intestinal tract. Digestion very good, at times; comes and goes; sometimes wants everything, again, don’t want anything, from the lack of forces to supply to the intestinal tract the throwing out or to eliminate what is thrown into it; this produces the spasm we have, at times, to the head from the nerve force supply.

  14. (Q) Any other condition you find? (A) We have some few little reflexes through the system but not in the trouble. The body is not sick all the time.

  15. (Q) What treatment would you suggest to remove these conditions? (A) Relax these condition along the spine, especially, at the times we have all these troubles; something hot at the ninth dorsal to the seventh cervical - the whole dorsal region here - then the body will rest. It needs more rest than anything else; it needs to be perfectly relaxed, which it rarely ever is. It will become nearer relaxed by something warm along here or manipulation until we relax the whole system. Then take something into the system to remove these troubles - Pine, Oil of Pine or the juice, Candy - Sugar from the Beet, made into a syrup with the Pine and some mild purgative to carry off from the system what it is using into it and rest the body and mind as much as possible.

Manipulate the upper part of the head, shoulders, neck; this will aid the condition of the eye and of the whole system.

Rest the body as much as possible. Sleep well and warm; keep the feet warm; eat what you want but masticate it mighty well.

  1. (Q) Alright, any other treatment? (A) Body will improve with this.
