This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of May, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [243], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:25 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Tenn. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes.
-
As we find, the recent cold and congestion have produced conditions in the lung and trachea area that are rather severe; not tubercular in nature but have made spots.
-
And unless there are the proper precautions, they may make for adherences to either the pleura or to some walls of the lung area breaking down themselves.
-
As we find, then:
-
We would use the cough syrup as given for the activity upon the system itself. [As in 243-29.]
-
The inhalant we would use in these proportions, and in this manner; and have so prepared as to have a vent into the solution as it is inhaled, see? but both openings to be kept corked when not in use, and very tightly:
-
To 4 ounces of Pure Grain Alcohol, in an eight ounce container, add in the order named:
Oil of Eucalyptus…20 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin…15 minims, Rectified Creosote…5 minims, Oil of Turpentine…5 minims.
-
Keep this where it may be used several times each day, especially when there is any irritation or soreness or feeling of irritation through activity or the like.
-
Also prepare at least a gallon or gallon and a half keg, charred inside. In this put at least half a gallon of Apple Brandy. This to be inhaled morning and evening. It is to be prepared so a vent makes for the abilities to draw off the gas when inhaled.
-
Do this, and keep those precautions as to keeping the feet dry; not getting hot and cooling off too quickly; keeping out of the night air.
-
Have the stimulations from body-building forces in the diet; such as the use of red wine in the evening about two ounces; beef juices, liver, fish often taken. Have these as a part of the diet, you see; the wine and the beef juices as a food and not as a drink.
-
Doing these, we will find the better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/29/38 She wired for 340-39 for her sister.
R2. 6/4/38 Letter from [340] to EC: “Sister [243] had quite a little sick spell Thurs. night. She has been pretty busy at the store, and then I’m sure was rather upset about me after your information came. She started with cramps in her stomach in the afternoon and thinking they would soon stop, ate a hearty supper, when very tired, and at ten o’clock that night she commenced to vomit and kept it up pretty well all night. Then later it went off on her bowels. [348] had to be nurse and did everything we knew to do. Had her drink two tall glasses of warm water - little salt and soda - to wash her stomach out; then next morning washed out bowels and that all relieved the pain and aside from weakness she is about alright. Went to work this morning - which of course she shouldn’t have done.”
R3. 7/22/38 Miss [243] wrote: “I am real well.”
R4. 8/17/38 She requested 340-41 for sister.
R5. 2/5/39 She obtained Ck. Physical Rdg. 243-31.
R6. 11/5/39 Sister [340] wrote: “Won’t you send me a copy of the inhalant that was given in 243-30 about a yr. and a half ago, at the same time she was told to use the charred keg with apple brandy? I can’t seem to find it anywhere - she needs it so badly.” [11/7/39 GD sent it.]
