This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 105th St. & Ocean, Va. Beach, Va., this 8th day of January, 1932, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [2457], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., and an Official Representative.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ala. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. While the conditions as exist in the present are giving a great deal of anxiety, will there be the proper precautions and care taken, these may come about - that when necessary, and the period for the eliminations and ejections that come by the natural means in such conditions, this should NOT be so severe.
-
In ALL, better that the whole physical and mental body keep attuned with that as is known in self that makes for the more perfect knowledge of the SPIRITUAL life. Keep in close touch with OTHERS, for safety’s sake, at all times. Keep off of feet so much, else the swelling of the lower limbs - and the weakness in the abdominal regions - will make for pressures in the kidneys and bladder, as to cause too much irritation.
-
Be mindful that the eliminations through alimentary canal are kept at least a bit above normal, that there are not too many irritations in the system for the producing of acid, or for those of the producing of too great an activity upon the kidneys.
-
Well that there be the increase in amount of calcium and of BLOOD and nerve BUILDING tissue, but DO NOT INCLUDE those that are of the bulbous nature - for they will only tend to make for an increase in the tendency for plethora in the pelvic regions.
-
We would keep those low vibrations of electrically driven motors, or vibrators, for the easing of those pains in back and lower limbs.
-
Keep the ash, as given; when there are those distresses or the nausea - these may be allayed best with small quantities of lime water, cinnamon water and bromide of potash - NOT iodide in this, for this body.
-
In those conditions when there is dizziness, or a tendency for the head to ROTATE - from the pressures - well that ice be put at the base of the brain, and that the feet be put in hot water - see?
-
(Q) What is the cause of this condition at present? (A) The natural, as has been given, of conditions in such natures of conditions. Do these, and we will find that in the proper time, proper periods, the deliveries will be made, and the necessity for those removals of the larger portions of those plethora conditions and formations will come with same - or be taken care of at the same time. We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/13/32 She thanked him for the rdg., saying she expected a baby boy.
R2. 1/15/32 She wrote: “The electrical vibrator has been used on me three times up until tonight (it isn’t bedtime yet) with splendid results. Can turn over and get up and down without so much pain. You know I have to do all of my ‘standing up’ sitting down or ‘crumple up’ not that I have ‘crumpled up’ but the sensation is awful.
“The tension is loosed so much I feel almost like a different person, already.
“In answering the rdg. I told you to let me have all your ailments. Know a few more could not damage me.
“My head when I walk gives me trouble at times. Now last Mon. I walked around to friend [310]‘s [just a few blocks, you know]. When I reached there the top of my head seemed to draw upward. After resting a while I was o.k.”
R3. 1/23/32 EC’s letter: “The limewater, etc., is especially for that dizziness, and the nausea. You would get it prepared something like this: Add 2 ounces of a 2% solution of limewater to 2 ounces of a 10% solution of cinnamon water. To this add 5 drops of a 10% solution of Bromide of Potassium. The dose would be 3 to 5 drops every hour, or every two to three or four hours - according to the condition.”
R4. 1/26/32 She wrote: “In the past two years have spent six weeks in bed twice… I went to see Dr. C. D. Feulner [M.D.] again, taking specimen. Kidneys in good condition, just a tiny trace of acid. So tiny that it was hardly noticeable …those stairs to his office slay me nearly. My legs don’t function properly…
“The Ash arrived yesterday…am taking nothing else but some laxative about twice a week. I eat only two meals a day and a good bit of fruit.
“Do have trouble getting a deep breath - something pushing up or in some way affecting the diaphragm. Can’t go any distance, or the least exertion and I sound like a winded horse.”
R5. 2/10/32 She wrote: “Am feeling fine today and the past week. Was ‘flat out’ for the week before that, though - my head. Been two weeks since I reported in any way, so as I am feeling fit thought I’d better let you know quick.”
R6. 3/12/32 She wrote: “Am glad to say my back has been giving me very little trouble the past 2-3 days. My lower limbs, no trouble or swelling - circulation could be better, but that doesn’t worry me like my hips and the ‘surrounding area.’”
R7. 3/22/32 She wrote: “The last examination showed kidneys good
- blood pressure between 100-110 - so that is better. Dr. C. D. Feulner [M.D.] doesn’t know what I am taking or eating that is keeping me in such good condition. Says he never saw anyone get along as well.”
R8. 4/28/32 She wrote: “Had hoped to be ‘down’ ere this, but no such luck. If I have to go another month, I won’t be responsible for my actions at that time. Such TIGHTNESS and ALL the BURDEN is in front. So misery ain’t in it.”
R9. 5/11/32 She wrote: “Have been in bed since Sat. with hemorrhoids - can’t move. The doctor had to give me morphine.”
R10. 6/10/32 She wrote: “Don’t believe I have anything but a tumor anyway a lively one, though… Dr. Feulner says ‘Time is not as long as it was.’ A regular Job’s comforter.”
R11. 6/15/32 She wrote: “Have to go to Dr. Feulner again tomorrow. The kidneys seem to be functioning properly, by that I mean no acid or albumin or foreign matter. Blood pressure is Dr. Feulner’s hobby and that is one thing I can’t raise to normal. (Torso 36” square bust, waist and hips. How fat people are able to cut toenails and corns I don’t see.)”
R12. 6/22/32 She wrote: “For two days I have not been able to walk - hardly creep. Wonder how much longer I have to wait. My patience won’t hold much longer.”
R13. 6/24/32 Daughter [259]‘s wire: “[2457] has a son [305] (9 1/2 lbs.). Both doing fine.”
R14. 6/25/32 Daughter [259]‘s letter: “Mother [2457] and the baby [305] are now at home and doing nicely. Mother says it’s the most economic baby she’s ever had. She went to the hospital yesterday afternoon around 2 o’clock and the baby was born at 3:50; weighs nine and a half pounds, and is the fattest little baby I ever saw.” [GD’s note: Little [305] was named for Edgar Cayce and for [305]‘s father, Mr. [3657]].
R15. 7/5/32 EC’s letter: “I trust that his coming will prove great blessing to each and every member of the family. Both the girls must be very much excited over his presence, and I suspect [3657] and yourself are equally as thrilled and proud. Let’s hope and pray he will ever keep well and be a comfort and blessing to everyone.
“That you should burden him with my name makes me feel very much flattered. I hope it doesn’t prove to be something he’ll have to live down. Will you call him both names? or does [3657] insist on his being called just [‘3657’]?”
R16. 7/11/32 Mrs. [2457] wrote: “We have the sweetest baby you ever saw (Every crow’s offspring is the blackest), but [[305]
- ‘Sonny’] in the concrete is very different from the ‘Sonny’ of before June 24th.
“He gained five ounces the first week he was on earth. The eighth day we made a ‘Jew’ out of him. At the same time the doctor found he was tongue-tied. (Think of anyone being kin to me being tongue-tied.) So that was clipped. The little operation made a very much better baby, not near so nervous and jumpy, though he came by that naturally. He was twenty-two inches long at two weeks…
“The girls want to know if I loved them as much as I do this baby. The only difference is in years, not affection. [259] sixteen, [711] ten in Nov., and [305] two weeks, three days…
“Do you know it will be ten weeks this Fri. since I have touched my feet to the ground… Have been sitting up mornings a week today. This recuperating business is slow…
“I wonder what the ‘unnatural growth’ was, or if the diet did away with it. The pains started at 11:30 a.m. June 24th. Had three treatments, one a week in hopes of hurrying up things (dilation, quinine and castor oil). The last one was effective. ‘Sonny’ was a month old when he was born. No red baby. Dr. Feulner was here at 10:30 a.m. June 24th. The pains started at 11:30 a.m., five minutes apart… Dr. Feulner is certainly well up on his job when it comes to obstetrics… We were at the Baptist Hospital twenty-four hours. No trouble, except I could not sleep - too much fuss.”
R17. 7/18/32 She wrote: “Guess what! I put on my clothes yesterday for the first time since the first week in May. Stayed up nearly all day. The trunk portion of my body is a little sorer but managed to repeat the dressing episode again today, though not quite so early - nearer eleven today. Still have soreness where [305] poked his toes or foot or feet in or under of on the two ribs just below or a little to the left of the right breast. Dr. Feulner said many of his maternity patients were affected the same way. He gave the unusual pressure as the cause. But that soreness remains while the other is hardly noticeable…
“About the Ash, would you keep it up since ‘Sonny’s’ arrival or let nature do the healing?”
R18. 7/25/32 EC wrote her but did not mention the Ash.
R19. 8/15/32 She wrote: “Am feeling fairly fit these days. My joints from legs sown are not normal, though I can and do get around. It irks me no little not to be able to do and go, but I just can’t, so there - grin and do what I can.”
R20. 8/23/32 EC’s letter: “I guess you’ll have to get you some fox oil to rub on those joints. An equal mixture of olive oil and tincture of myrrh would be real good for you, [2457]. You heat the oil and add the myrrh. Only mix sufficient to use each time, which would ordinarily be about a tablespoonful - or a teaspoonful of each.”
R21. 9/3/32 She wrote: “Thanks for the suggestion about olive oil and myrrh…
“I am broad - 43 inches in hip, 41 shoulders, and squatty. Drink 2 qts. of milk a day and heaps of times eat a pint of ice cream.” [She was breast feeding her baby.] “I tip the scales at 150.”
R22. 2/3/33 She obtained Ck. Physical 259-7 for her daughter.
R23. 3/8/33 She requested Physical Rdg. for her baby son, [305].
R24. 10/16/34 She requested 711-3 for her little girl and 305-2 for baby son.
R25. 2/15/39 She obtained Ck. Physical 2457-6 especially for hemorrhoids, also menopausal effects.
R26. 3/1/41 She replied to a Questionnaire in re 2457-5: “I did not see a physician (M.D.) until February (after 2457-5 had been given). Although I had been going periodically to Dr. Elise L. Stone, N.D., for months, including during December 1931, she had not discovered that I was pregnant. I followed the rdg. 2457-5 from January 8th through June 24th. Results: An eight and a half pound son. Of all the readings I have had, this one (2457-5) was the shortest and most direct, I believe. All of Mr. Cayce’s readings are wonderful.”
Background
Background
B1. 4/2/30 She obtained Ck. Physical Rdg. 2457-4 for what appeared to be incipient cancer of the breast. See subsequent reports under 2457-4.
B2. 12/9/31 She wrote that she had not menstruated for several months, one doctor thought she was going through the menopause, another thought she might be pregnant.
B3. 12/26/31 She wrote: “If you have time would like for you to ‘go over me’ and see if I have cancer, kidney trouble, pregnancy, teeth, chest or the whole gamut or the menopause, or what not. If I can be satisfied about myself, one way or another, think I’ll start improving.”
