This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of February, 1930, in accordance with request made by his father, Mr. [3752].

1. EC: We have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, as are latent and exhibited in the present entity. In the astrological aspects in this entity, we will find a variance with that as has been builded in the entity’s abilities, and conditions as are latent in and with the entity.

2. In entering, we find the entity coming under the influence of Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Neptune. In the natural, or the astrological aspects from same, we have:

3. One of broad mind, adaptable to any and many relations in life; of a high mental ability.

4. One of the characters that in love and in sentiment are things apart, and in mystery or those of the NATURE as tend to the etheric are INTERESTING and studies for the entity.

In the application, as same has been used - for the entity is in that formative or DEVELOPING stage of the mental body, and in this relation there may be moulded in the present experience much as will have to do with the development of the entity, AS an entity, and the development of a MENTAL and a PHYSICAL body; in the influences as seen in the present experience:

Those of Jupiter brings as an INNATE expression, one that is easily adapted, and has the ability of adapting self to circumstances, conditions, and surroundings; easily becoming a leader, a manager, a director, in any effort that the entity may put forth. These may be used to weal or woe, dependent upon the applications in this direction.

7. In the MENTAL, we find, through that of Mercury - brings the natural insight into conditions as have to do with the mental attributes of groups or individuals.

8. In that of Venus, brings rather the contrarywise conditions as relating to marital relations, and would be well for THIS entity NOT to consider such relations until after at least the thirty-third year. In this relation, while there is sentiment - but to this entity sentiment and love are things separate and distinct; one having an influence in the finer things of life, the other having to do with duty and with relationships that are a oneness in purpose and intent.

9. In that in the Neptune is seen the music, or the ATTUNEMENT to rhythm, and in this much DEVELOPMENT may come for the entity; though in the field of endeavors these should be guided aright, and be led in that of the diplomatic relations as will have to do with foreign countries, as will be seen from the experiences of the entity and the abilities as lie innate and manifesting in Jupiter and Mercury.

10. In those things as have to do with that as is called personal, or as would be classified from here as INDIVIDUAL to the entity:

One that likes and feels as safe alone as with others; not fearful of self’s abilities, nor of what OTHERS may think, but being sure in self finds that with the work with others MUCH may be accomplished that may NOT be accomplished in an individual. Finding, then, in self that ability to lead, or to direct, or to guard and guide MANY in groups, in throngs, in masses.

12. In the experiences may be seen many of the conditions as are called, by some, as personality, or as the idiosyncrasies of the individual.

13. In the one before this we find in the land in which the entity now resides. The entity came as a representative of another land, and the entity became imbued with the conditions as existed, and chose to be called one of those peoples. In the name Clark. In that period when there were the revolutions. The entity then led the peoples against many that were KNOWN by the entity; acting as the CARRIER for those peoples in that PARTICULAR portion of the land. Then known as Hale Clark. In the present there is seen that this particular portion holds for the entity some feeling of having known, or having had much to do with the land about that portion of the country. In this the entity may gain or may lose, dependent upon the application of that gained in and through those experiences; for will is the factor that develops an entity, and one becomes then that BUILDED by the application, NOT of circumstance, not even of that called hereditary environment, but rather that as is a combination of environmental forces as applied to the WILL of the individual, as is builded IN the EXPERIENCES OF an entity.

14. In the one before this we find in that land where there were the building up of an empire, and the entity the representative of that land, and passing to and fro between what was Rome and what was Palestine; and the entity gained much in that experience, being the representative of a power, yet the power used in the developing of the peoples that were in or under rule, and gained through that experience. In the name Parloar. In the present, there is seen the ability to lead, to direct. Dependent, then, whether such ABILITY is used as the dividing of selfish interest or of building for selfish motives. In the present, this again MUST be determined in the entity’s own application of that called right and that called wrong.

15. In the one before this we find in the land now known as Egypt. The entity in that period when there were divisions in the land. The entity among those who were sent as the representatives of the ones in power to look AFTER those banished. In the name Itolea. In this experience the entity gained and lost. GAINED through the period of aiding in the understanding of following orders. Losing in the aggrandizement of interests when they became such as the entity able to lord over others. In the present is seen from this experience the love of rhythm, the dividing of experiences between those of the nature that the experience before brings IN, with those of that IN the musical turn.

16. In the one before this we find in the land known as Atlantis, during that period when many peoples understood the laws of the universal forces. The entity among those able to carry the messages through space to other lands, and the guider of the crafts of that period. Hence the mechanical side, and the mystery side of MANY conditions influence the entity. In this period the entity lost, for there was the misapplication of many of the forces, the powers, understood. In the name Amexl.

17. In the abilities of the entity in the present:

18. As is seen, these lie in MANY directions. The greatest being in the ability to organize and direct, to HARMONIZE and to control. These may be made to be of useful service to self, or to self AND to others.

19. Then, the training should be in the present especially in that field as will have to do with DIPLOMATIC relations of various or VARIED nations. In THIS will the entity succeed, in the mental, in the physical, in the financial. Gain first the knowledge of self. The abilities of self are only limited by the vision that may be set before self; knowing that all must be made accountable unto Him that gives life and light. Keep self in obeisance to His service, knowing he that would be greatest among men would serve the most men. Keeping the life unspotted, and the mind unstinted. Ready for questions.

20. (Q) What college would be best suited to prepare for life work? (A) That one that will prepare the mental being for the better understanding of the relationships of nations.

21. (Q) What future will there be in continuing musical interests? (A) These will assist in keeping a well BALANCED mental and physical being; but are not to be the desire of the better or higher development, for these should have to do with the relationships of individuals and nations. Not so much as a political emissary. Rather as the advisor FOR those that may BE such.

22. (Q) What would be the best vocation after college? (A) That as has been outlined, or following in studying diplomatic relations. Not as one of those that would be called “snooper”, but one as studies more in that of the diplomatic laws and financial relations.

23. (Q) Would you advise a business course at college? (A) This would be in keeping with that as has been outlined.

24. (Q) Would you advise continuance of interest in theatrical producing? (A) These are well, for they keep a mental balance for such an entity; but not a goal.

25. (Q) Is work requiring executive ability suited to this entity? (A) Is suited, as has been outlined! The entity IS an executive!

26. (Q) What should body do this summer? Travel or continue orchestra work? (A) Travel would be the better.

27. (Q) What future will there be in continuing interests in creative writing? (A) These are very good, and in the END - or in the latter days will be the most useful in putting together that which will be most beneficial for the peoples, the nations yet unborn.

28. (Q) What is the body’s greatest weakness? and what correction? (A) Selfish interests. Selfishness in the entity NOT above that of others, no - but the greatest weakness is, or may be BUILDED so as for selfish motives or selfish purpose, but the imagination as is builded between that of sentiment, love and duty may become the greatest stumbling block, or the greatest BUILDER for this entity. Beware in this direction. We are through for the present.

Enclosed is a copy of the Situation Report which will bring you up to date on the Foundation activity. It will certainly be helpful if you can make another contribution at this time toward the work.

There are encouraging signs. You will note that we have been able to render considerable personal service through furnishing excerpts from the readings to members of the Association who have sought help. While the benefits derived by the individuals from this service is important, it is exciting to realize that slowly but surely we are accumulating records independent of the personal psychic readings which point toward areas for further medical research.

May I illustrate the above point with just two of several possible research projects?

1. We are finding that in every case of arthritis the readings recommended peanut oil massage, besides many other treatments. Individuals who have tendencies towards arthritis, who did not obtain personal readings, are beginning to report beneficial results from using peanut oil massages.

2. While in Chicago last spring I took preliminary steps toward arranging for the Osteopathic Hospital there, in cooperation with a sympathetic osteopathic physician, to treat a given number of epileptic cases according to the system which has proved so helpful in many of the Edgar Cayce Readings. In just 34 cases, which Dr. Henry George III of Wilmington, Del., abstracted or tabulated for us, we find a definite pattern of this treatment. (You may remember the case of the Catholic priest in the back of THERE IS A RIVER, which is a typical example.) The hospital in Chicago has agreed not only to follow the treatments but to give all preliminary examinations and to report their results in their regular osteopathic journal. This work has not actually begun, but the locating of epilepsy cases for this test has been started.

It is records of this kind that can be taken to hospitals, foundations and clinics for thorough and complete testing. They may well lead to findings of value to a great many people.

Slow and feeble as these efforts may be, they offer a tremendous challenge in proving the value of psychic information on a scale never dreamed of when the individual readings were given.

Under separate cover I am mailing to you a short Bulletin article which I did on health hints; it will give you a picture of the slow but constant steps we are taking. I’m also including with it a copy of the lecture given at our June Congress last summer by Harmon H. Bro. Mr. Bro has just completed his Ph.D. thesis at the University of Chicago with the Edgar Cayce records as his source material. While he has done this work in the historical field of the history of seership, it will be a contribution in presenting another phase of our work. Harper’s has already purchased a rewritten version of his thesis, to be published as a book.

Since you had a Life Reading, it may also interest you to know that on November 16th William Sloane Associates will publish MANY MANSIONS by Gina Cerminara. Miss Cerminara spent two years here at Headquarters writing a book based on the Life Readings. She is a trained psychologist and we feel certain that her book will help a great many people. I will see that you receive a copy of this shortly after November 16th.

In the future I shall keep you in closer touch with our activities. This work, as you know, is like sailing unchartered seas. Without the encouragement and support such as you give us, it would indeed be “rough sailing”.

I expect to be in New York the first week in December and if you are free at that time I hope you can let me meet you for a chat and a further report on our activities.

A long time between greetings. I am most interested in the project you outlined in your letter of July 8, 1960 to all beneficiaries of Edgar Cayce’s readings. Unfortunately I have done no research on HALE CLARK mentioned in my reading.

On the subject could you send me a transcript, thermofax or facsimile of Mr. Cayce’s reading that concerned me - [2494]. I would be glad to pay for cost of this naturally and am delighted to know that it might still be available.

Dear [2494]:

It was good to hear from you after all these years and to know that you are still interested in your life reading.

Enclosed you will find a copy of your reading, a thermofax copy. We would be so glad to have a report from you on the reading after you have studied it and compared it with your experiences during all these years.

We heard from your brother [5603] not long ago, and it seems that his reading has worked out beautifully, although he did not have a life reading. So much vocational guidance was given in his health reading that has worked out in his life. He almost got a life reading in his health readings when he was fourteen years old.

I have thought of you many times and wondered just how you were getting along. I remember your parents so very well and admired them very much. Your mother [454] spent several vacations here, you remember, and I spent quite a bit of time with her on the beach. She was indeed a lovely person; still is, of course, since as the Edgar Cayce readings say, “nothing good ever dies.”
