This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of July, 1926, in accordance with request made by his brother, Mr. [2855].

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the Universe, and the Universal Forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited, in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity, giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity here, and those relations with the Universal Forces, as are latent and as manifested in the present earth’s plane.

3. In taking the position in the earth’s plane, we find the entity comes under the influence of Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, and of Venus. Hence we find there are many of those conditions entering the earthly affairs of the entity that, to the one viewing same wholly and solely from that viewpoint, finds little having been accomplished in the present earth’s plane, through seeming negligence on the part of the entity, and as that as is termed “bad luck” - luck in this instance meaning indiscretion on the part of choice, as is seen in those who from Saturn sojourn begin again, as it were, to meet the earthly development as is meted, and often one finds self falling far behind. These in the early days meant that the body in many ways successful in the earthly relations, and when attempting things for self - not wise in the choice of profession, or of the meted conditions as they appeared.

4. As to the characteristics as are seen:

5. We find one generous of nature, and stingy in action.

6. One that is ever given to give the other fellow the square deal, even to the detriment of self, and is often found in that way in which such conditions are taken advantage of; yet we find in the inner man this entity developing faster, farther, in the present plane than many with much better earthly advantages from the spiritual and the mental viewpoint.

7. One, then, that will find that, in the change as will occur when Saturn is farthest from the influence in the earth’s condition, that those of Jupiter being in the ascendancy, (that beginning in December of the present year) there will come those conditions that will prove more satisfactory from the earthly viewpoint - as is concerning money matters, for with Jupiter in the rule, with Mars and Saturn at that point where neither influence the life, Venus and Jupiter bring the greater influence in the life. Then, through those efforts as will be set for the entity during that period, there will begin that around which many, in after years, will call this entity, [2496], making a financial success in old age.

8. Through these conditions there come, then, these as the urges as are seen:

In the appearance before this we find the entity among those who were persecuted in the period when the first of the martyrs in the Roman period, for the entity then among the soldiers of that day. Then in the name Romis, and the entity lost and lost, and lost, during that sojourn, for with the position, and with the opportunity to GAIN from those whom the entity contacted, there was little stability in purpose, save as to the self-satisfaction of own self’s interest in the earthly fashion, and from same came Saturn’s influence.

In the one before this we find in those days when the return of the peoples to the Promised Land, the entity among those who sought to assist in this change, yet not giving self in the change - remaining in that foreign land for the good that came from the position held - being then in that position of desiring, yet not willing to give self in service. Then in the name Hildago, and the entity lost in that period, gaining in the first, and losing in that of lack of self-service to the principles that were as tenets to many, and as the shield to the entity. In the urge there is seen the inability of the entity to often take a decided stand - influenced, then, much by the word of others.

11. In the one before this we find during that period when the children of promise were in that sojourn between the land of bondage and the Promised Land. The entity then of the household of Achar, and only remained in the earth plane a few years, being put to death for the persecution and fault of others - gaining then in that period, yet the urge as is seen is the desire to give rather than to take aught from any man.

12. In the abilities, then, of the entity, there is seen there is lack of stability in the knowledge acquired, yet with the hand and the needle the entity may bring much to pass that is worthy of consideration. Then, buckle up, put on self in the way of being true to those principles of the innate forces that would do good to others, and apply same in those prospects, those conditions, as will be presented to the entity in the last days of the present year; for through this application will come much good, will the entity but WILL in self, and “stick to it”, keeping in the way that leads to the close communion with Him, the Giver of all good and perfect gifts.

B1. 5/11/26 Brother [2855]‘s letter to EC:

”…I received your letter dated May 7th and deeply regret I did not furnish you with details concerning my brother, but am rather apprehensive now after reading your booklet, that my request does not come within your jurisdiction, for it is not a physical disability or illness that he is suffering from. It is even worse. It is an inability to earn a livelihood, for himself, wife and five children and if you could read the last letter I received from him last week, dated April 17th in London, written by one of his daughters, asking me to cable what ever money I could afford stating that they had not money enough in their possession to buy breakfast that morning. It made my heart sick and when I heard the story about you, I was quite ready to ‘touch the hem’ and seek your guidance.

“The story is so sad and is really one of life’s calamities. My brother is 54 years old, in good health, robust and sane, levelheaded, with a fair education, willing to work hard, and God-fearing, but ever since he was mustered out after the war, he has been constantly in the depths of poverty. He has a tailor shop in London and it seems every year, for five or six years now, he becomes impoverished, dispossesed and left homeless and hungry and each time, we brothers and sisters in this country get together as large a fund as we possible can spare and send it over to him. It seems for a time it tides him over, and he thinks he is on a new road to success, when lo and behold he again falls in the same rut and is again ‘down and out.’ So I wonder if you could give him a reading and see what is the real trouble and perhaps you would have a solution.

“I can easily see that your work is to help the sick but perhaps you might be able to help this poor, weary unfortunate whom fortune does not smile on and life seems such a hopeless one, and in consequences his wife and children suffer the pangs of hunger…”
