This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of December, 1930, in accordance with request made by self and those in charge.

Time of Reading Cayce Hospital, 3:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Virginia Beach, Va. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: We have the body here, [2504] - this we have had before. In many respects we find the body comparatively at ease, and the general conditions no worse in any respect. There are times when distress is felt from anxiety and general debilitation is in the functioning of the organs. These, as we find, are holding - as might be said - their own, with gradual improvements in the general condition.

2. We would keep much of that as has been outlined for the body from time to time.

3. In the matter of the vibrations as come for the system, these we would keeping a general manner as has been given.

4. We would keep those applications in the massage, both as to manipulations and corrections, as well as those exterior applications.

5. We would keep many of those that have been outlined as internal forces for the building up of the system in a general manner; that is, as the gold, or those that will act with the general assimilating system.

6. The electrical vibratory forces, these should be kept for the body, and we will find these will continue to be much in the same way and manner.

7. The exercises of the body, for the strength to be gained in the system, will be found most by the massage of a neuropathic nature, which would be the most helpful; that is, beginning at extremities and massaging with the oils TOWARD the body, not FROM same. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) What would tend to eliminate increase in stiffness? (A) Just been given!

9. (Q) Would change to higher altitude and colder climate be beneficial? (A) Be beneficial, were all of those applications as given followed.

10. (Q) Should small doses of citrate potash be used to clear up cloudiness of urine? (A) Provided not too large doses are given, as to produce an irritation to the functioning organs, or as related to the adrenal or endorine (endocrine?) glands.

11. (Q) What dosage and how often? (A) Very minute doses, that should be given under the direction of physician who is WATCHING the conditions!

12. (Q) Should vinegar and salt be continued? (A) Acetic acid in water would be better than salt and vinegar for the condition in hands or portion of the body, but the ELIMINATIONS must be kept high if it is to be used, in a manner of the sweats or tub baths, see?

13. (Q) What proportion would be used? (A) One to ten.

14. (Q) Is present schedule of medication and treatment good for the body? (A) This has just been outlined! and gone over! Just look at that!

15. That is all the questions regarding this body.

R1. 12/22/30 Dr. L. A. Lydic’s reply to EC’s inquiry in re Mr. [53]‘s insurance:

Dear Edgar:-

Enclosed find [53]‘s insurance blank - you will have to let Mildred look up his case history and fill in the following questions #5, #5(a), #5(b), #7 and send blank to him and let him fill in question #5(c) and then send the blank in to the Company.

Have been at the Hospital here the last week and expect to spend several months - like it very much and am getting exactly what I want in the line of eye work. How is everything with you - hope more satisfactory than when I last saw you. What plane is Morton [MHB] on now, and is Pat [Patricia Devlin] up there with him. In my opinion he is suffering from ‘Paranoia.’ [See Work Reading 254-51 Reports.]

Haven’t heard anything from Sam [S. J. Benstock] - but believe he will take care of that O.K. - I sure hope so as it would hit me pretty bad just now.

R2. 12/30/30 EC’s letter to Dr. Lydic:

Dr. L. A. Lydic, North Park Hotel, Chicago, Ill.

Dear Doc:-

As just in receipt of yours of the 22nd, enclosing the report for [53]. This has been forwarded on to him. Many thanks for attending to it.

So you finally decided on Chicago. I certainly hope you will find it just exactly what you are looking for, and that your stay there will be most pleasant and beneficial to you in every way.

I have been very much “under the weather” for the last week or ten days. First I had another spell of neuritis. This time it seemed to involve my throat more than it ever has. I sure wished for you, as you could look after my tonsils. However, I went in to see our friend Richardson and he has been giving me some treatments. Whether it comes from the tonsils, I don’t know - but I’ve been in bed for the last few days with one of the worse colds I think I have ever had. Not the flu, but just a deep head and chest cold, accompanied with a little fever and bout as miserable feeling as could be imagined.

No, I have heard little and seen less of Morton since you were here. He did call me a couple of times, when he seemed rather anxious about Dave’s firm bringing suit for the price of the furniture that was first put in the hospital, but I have heard nothing from either side and don’t know just what is to come of it. Things are certainly tangled up with the university, and I’m afraid it will give them a great deal of trouble - that is, Morton, Eddie and Tim - before they are through with it, as I feel that it will necessarily have to close and many of these professors, I am afraid, will try to do something about their contracts. Just what will happen I don’t know.

I haven’t heard anything whatever from Sam. Mr. Ashburn said he thought he would take care of that note at the bank. The bank called me once but I was not in at the time, and they later said they didn’t want with me - so I guess something must have been done about it. They closed the store [Benstock Drug Co.], but opened it again to sell as a bankrupt stock with Shroyer in charge - closed it again and it is to be sold in about ten days. Just what will be the final outcome we don’t know.

We only have [758] and Mr. [2504] at the hospital, and Mr. [2504] is leaving tomorrow. More people come in for treatments, though, than we have had before. Mr. [2504] is getting along pretty well. I hate to see him go out in this weather and into a house not steam heated. I hope it doesn’t finish him. Apparently, there are prospects for more patients the first of the year. Several want to come back. Just whether the hospital will be kept open or not is a question. It won’t be, I’m sure, unless we have more coming in. Just what their attitude will be with those who want to come in, is also a great big question. They seem to have the tendency to want to turn it into more of a mysterious thing, rather than real service - as I understand it.

R3. 1/1/31 [2504]‘s letter to EC:

Mr. Edgar Cayce, 115-35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va.

My dear Mr. Cayce:

I wish to express my sincere gratitude for the very many helpful things that you have done for me and also for the many suggestions and courtesies which have added so much to my comfort and pleasure while in the hospital. Your deep interest and supplications made it much easier for me to make the trip from Virginia Beach here, a distance of 250 miles as I though of you a great deal on the way and know that you were still praying for my safe journey. We crossed the eleven-thirty ferry and arrived here at six-thirty, without any kind of discomfort of interruptions and I can safely say that I seem to be in as good shape as when I left the hospital. Mr. [3957] however with her wonderful intuition put me to bed immediately with hot soap stones at my feet which I soon realized I needed. After an hours warming up Virginia and Mrs. [3957] gave me a very sumptuous meal which I fully enjoyed. After talking a couple of hours I had my usual sleep. Have been taking it easy today and feel none the worse for the trip. I am going to do my best with your help, the help of the Lord and my good people here to get back to near normal. You stated that you would give me a check reading on Monday. The only two things I seem to need are strength and the return of feeling and of course I very much need the usefulness of my limbs. There are no other particular questions except I would like for you to get a package of tasty Yeast and try some of it as I took a little of it last night and it seemed to give me splendid results. If you think it well tell me in the reading if I should take it. Also please look me over generally. I hope things are coming your way. Mr. [3957] phoned Miss Annie [Annie Cayce] last night and I am sure she phoned you.
