This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of July, 1941, in accordance with phone request made by the mother - Mrs. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. Eggleston through Miss Florence Edmonds.

Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have those conditions and anxieties regarding this body here, [2527].

3. As we find, there are conditions which prevent the normal functioning through the body. These have to do with disturbances which existed from the period of the presentation and delivery of the body-physical as an entity.

4. There were pressures produced in the 1st and 2nd dorsal and through the cervical area, that have prevented the normal supply of energies through nerve flow from the impulse centers to portions of the sensory system.

5. This has prevented the normal functioning as related to the auditory nerves, and thus sympathetically to the vocal activities, - or the natural vocal response.

6. Hence there are periods when the body is easily upset emotionally. Also pathologically, there is such slowed activity of circulation and nerve impulse through the area of the eustachian tubes that, unless corrections are made, we may find a catarrhal disturbance developing that would eventually bring early deafness to the body, - unless operative measures were resorted to, and even these might not, unless done properly, prove as efficient as the corrective measures that may be taken in the present.

7. Then, we would have the applications made osteopathically, - by a nerve, or eye, ear and nose specialist in the osteopathic profession, - that would remove those pressures existing in the areas indicated; beginning especially with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd dorsals, and throughout the cervical area. And when there are the movements of the vertebra in the lower cervicals, coordinate same with the 9th dorsal and the lumbar axis; that there may be kept the best coordination in areas where cerebrospinal and the sympathetic centers coordinate the more with the central nervous system.

8. We find that the better reactions would be had by taking some six to ten treatments in the first series, then rest from these a week to two weeks, and then about that many more. MOVE those cervicals AND the upper dorsals that hinder the flow through the ears.

9. Do this. And with the care as to the speech, - as well as the MUSIC that is of interest to the body, and may be made more so by using certain tones, - we will bring the normal forces for this body, [2527].

10. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) Would you advise Dr. Richardson as the one to make these corrections? (A) Dr. Richardson would be excellent, and is one who could do this.

12. (Q) Just what kind of music, and in what manner may it be used? (A) Especially those tones or chords that will be found to be pleasing, and will find response in the emotions of the body. This should be a part of its training, - as in speech, and the sounds - with the vocal noises, or meeting same in their chords, see?

13. We are through for the present.

R2. 2/9/42 Mother’s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce-

Last July you gave a reading for my little girl, [2527], who has had trouble with her hearing and speech. A series of osteopathic treatments were recommended and to the best of my ability and understanding, have been carried out.

I have tried to be patient, realizing that the results might not be immediate. However, the prescribed treatments ended just before Christmas and I must say that I can see no improvement. Her speech is better, but that HAS improved continuously but slowly for the last two years. Her hearing, however, is just as it was, and I am convinced that this deficiency is the cause for her poor speech.

Can you give me another reading, or CHECK reading, so that I may know if I have failed in carrying out instructions correctly, or if there is something further I can do? The doctors say there is nothing organically wrong with her ears or mouth, and I am so anxious to have her start school next fall without this handicap.

Will you set a date for the reading and let me know far enough ahead…

R3. 2/15/42 Mother’s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce-

Thank you for answering so promptly and for making an appointment for Fri. morning, the 20th. I suppose it will be about 10:30 and I will have [2527] here at home at that time.

I don’t know of any SPECIAL questions I want to ask. I just want to know what can be done to correct her hearing deficiency and to make her the normal, happy child she should be. I would be interested to know what effect the osteopathic treatments have had on her, because I really haven’t been able to see any. The doctor was very understanding and cooperative. By the way, he is Dr. H. H. Bell [Haney H. Bell, D.O.], Union Trust Co. Bldg., Petersburg.

I forgot to mention that to the best of my ability, I followed out the instructions regarding MUSIC, in the first reading, and she enjoys it very much.

I am praying for something helpful to come from the reading Fri. morning.
