This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of July, 1941, in accordance with request made by the daughter - Mrs. […] through Associate Membership in the Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [257].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:10 to 3:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes.
-
As we find, conditions are very serious. The vitality is low, and the desire on the part of the soul forces of this body is to rest. Yet there may be those administrations which would aid in sustaining and maintaining some vital forces, - if those about the body consider this the most desirable.
-
These are conditions as we find them with this body, [2531] we are speaking of:
-
The blood supply indicates the long unbalanced condition existing in same, the lack of the proper coordinating of eliminating channels and of those energies in the superficial as well as in the deeper circulation; as to prevent the activities of the organs to bring a normal balance.
-
The chemical changes wrought cause the accumulations in portions of the soft tissue, as well as the conditions existing in the muscular and tendon forces of the body.
-
As we find, then, these would be the administrations, - while there may not be the ability in the beginning to carry out these properly:
-
We would have the hydrotherapy treatments; using the blanket sweats, the massages following same, occasionally the eliminations from the colon. The massages would be first with the Pine Oil, followed by an equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil.
-
These should be given at least every other day, if there would be brought the best conditions for the body.
-
If there is the response to these applications, and there are the abilities of the body to be carried to the regular hydrotherapy place for these treatments, we would then give further instructions.
-
But these we would do in the present.
-
We would have such as Reilly to make those arrangements to care for the body in the present surroundings, until there is either sufficient of the response for bettered conditions or the changes that may make for rest.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the source of the illness? (A) Unbalanced chemical forces that allowed for accumulations of those influences that brought about the disintegration by separation.
Do these things for the present, and if there is the response - in three to four weeks we would give further instructions.
- We are through for the present.
Two copies to the daughter, Mrs. […] (one to be given to Mr. [257] so he can arrange with Dr. Reilly to make the arrangements for the hydrotherapy treatments for her at home) Copy to Ass’n file
(7/7/41 GD’s notes: At your convenience, please let us have a history of the case to the time of obtaining the Reading - that is, the condition as the doctors have diagnosed it - so we may have something with which to compare our information.
If these applications are made and the body responds, let us know in two to three weeks, so we may make an appointment for a Check Physical to give further instructions.)
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/7/41 GD’s letter to Mrs. [189], Mr. [257]‘s secretary: “I have just mailed two copies of the [2531] Reading to Mrs. […] the daughter, asking that she give one to Mr. [257] and let him arrange for the Reilly treatments at home. It sounds like a very serious condition, and if there is response the Reading indicated that further instructions would be given later.
“According to the description given in the Reading, it sounds very much like a cancerous or a tumorous condition, though you know the Readings seldom come right out and call a condition by the name the doctors call it.
“So, Mrs. [189], when you have a chance, will you please drop me a notation giving the name of Mrs. [1531]‘s condition as it is diagnosed by the doctors? This is so I can index the Rdg. There is no possible way I can index the Rdgs., in a way that will be worth anything, unless I have the name of the disease - such as cancer, t.b., tumors, etc. Will you please do this for me? More and more, on each Reading, we are trying to have a case history according to the doctors, so that we have a cross-check; otherwise, the Rdg. in a folder by itself is of no value to research workers. We could never collect all the information we have on any particular disease, unless we KNOW where to find the specific Readings on that disease.
“Also, at the same time, could you give me the last news on the [2456] case - whether he is still living, whether they continued to follow the Rdg., or just what has happened.
“Thanks an awful lot. Heaps of love…”
R2. 7/22/41 Mrs. [189]‘s letter: “I have delayed answering your ltr. because I did not know who Mrs. […] was and Mr. [257] has been away so much I have not had a chance to ask him. Apparently he did not know who it was but yesterday Dr. Nover [Philip P. Nover, DDS] telephoned here to find out about Reilly and we discovered that it was some friend of his. They intend to follow the Rdg. and when I get some more data on it, I will let you know.
“I heard in some indirect way that [2456] died, but I do not know this on any real authority. I will try to find out for you and report later.”
