This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 W. 35th St., Va. Beach, Va., this 13th day of April, 1926, in accordance with request made by [900] and Edgar Cayce.

1. GC: You will have before you the psychic work as done by Edgar Cayce, you will also have before you the enquiring mind, and the intent and purpose in that mind regarding the work of Edgar Cayce, of [900]. You will tell us, please, to what extent this work may be used toward giving formulas for the manufacture of various and sundry articles that would be to the benefit of mankind, especially such as a light that would penetrate fog, or malleable glass. These two, especially, are in the mind of [900]. May the formula be given, and just how should this be used, and may it? You will also tell us if there may be other things of this character given, and how these should be used.

2. EC: Yes, we have the psychic work here, and the mind, the intent and purpose, of [900] as regards and in respect to same.

3. As to the formulas that may be given, and the use and purpose to which these may be used, and the conditions surrounding same:

Now, we find much has already been given in respect to this, yet a reiteration of many of these conditions as respecting same may be made worth while at the present time in the mind, mentally, of Edgar Cayce and of [900]. [See 137-38, Par. 13-A of 12/7/25 in re such a fog lamp. Also see case numbers indexed under Science:Inventions and check out the rdgs. given on such prior to this 4/13/26 date.]

5. All force is as one force. Hence the universal forces. All knowledge is as one knowledge. Hence may be attained from the universal force or knowledge.

6. As to the application of same in the physical plane, this, as we see, becomes MAN’S end of the job, for law, universal law, remains as one and the same, and when a cross section, or an idea as pertaining to same meets an idea of same from another angle, it is NOT the diversion of the law, but of man’s conception of that law.

7. The information as may be attained, or gained through such forces as are manifested in or through the psychic forces as are manifested in or through the psychic forces of Edgar Cayce, or of other psychic phenomena, is the reflection of the individual’s attainment towards the concept of the universal law. When these are made applicable in the lives of individuals, or when the individual physical consciousness can obtain the conscious precept as given, or the workable effect of such a law, same may be applied in the physical life for the benefit of man.

8. As has been given, there are many, many, MANY, formulas, in MANY different channels, in MANY different phases of human endeavor, that could be, WOULD be, assisted through the information as may be obtained through such a source. Those as pertain first to the physical conditions of the human body, in preparing the functioning of same to the normal conditions as exist through the physical plane, under the ENVIRONS of physical and of mental conditions of the individual. Also those same as would be, or as are applicable in the lives of each and every individual as may attain to an understanding of such laws or elemental conditions.

9. As to the intent and the purpose of the mind of [900] towards such work or such phenomena, this should not be questioned from such a source or force, for as given, each individual IS accountable to that portion of the divine from within for that to which purpose, the knowledge of the universe or divine, is applied in its individual passage through the earth’s plane.

10. As to the various conditions, or as to those elements as are given, or here given, in the mind of the body physical of [900], as for the light that may penetrate the fog, in this, as has been given, we have two ELEMENTAL conditions to be dealt with, one becoming destructive to the other to make same applicable or conscious in the consciousness of individuals. This may be accomplished, yet there must much more consciousness of the shadow side of life, PHYSICAL, be made conscious before same may be made in a physical manner to be a condition worthy of being used. Much easier would it be to apply that FORCE as is seen in many different ways in the universe to an effectual manner of serving man, than to produce ONE force to overcome another elemental force, as are manifested in man’s own conscious precept of elemental conditions in a material world.

11. As to that as may be applied in malleable, or in glass that will bend, as is seen and known, the same manner, the same way, of making glass, or that substance called glass, from the elements of the earth’s storehouse, is in all practical applications the same as was used twenty-five hundred - yes, forty-five hundred years ago, as are counted in earth’s years; yet there may be still applied those physical elements, now known to man’s consciousness, to produce such an element that will act in the place or the capacity of that substance now called glass. This too, however, necessitates the more perfect consciousness of those elements that go to make up flexibility of that called hardened or crystalized substances; for, as we see, in the present state, or as has been seen, there is no element in the physical plane with the present elasticity of that called glass - that is, a piece, strip of glass, bent in a manner, after becoming crystallized, bended to that point of not breaking, but of its own flexibility, no matter how long same may be kept in that position, the moment it is released it retains the first or former place or condition. No other element will do such. Hence, as there is seen then, necessary that a greater consciousness of that called crystallization of substances as are known in the make of glass be gained; though, with study, with a higher concept, a more perfect concept of same, this may become possible.

12. As to the numbers, or the many various fields, each and every individual who may attain to that individual’s bent or trend may use such information as may be obtained from universal forces to apply in their individual fields of endeavor for the benefit of mankind; not when man attempts to apply another field of endeavor from individual’s own bent or trend, which is as applying one elemental condition in diagonal position to another elemental condition, and the end thereof is bad.

13. As to the conditions as may be used, as there is seen, and as has been given, NEVER any information as regarding any specific condition, may or can be given, save as that individual seeking same applies self in that direction, so, when any information as may be obtained from the universal forces does NOT apply in the way and manner in which the individual feels is correct, the individual may know the fault in same lies within self - not in the universal forces, but in the application of the information, either in the manner of presenting same for the information, or in the application of self, in purpose, in intent, or the manner of applying same from the infinite to the finite.

14. Then, as has been given, there are many various conditions that may be made helpful, beneficial, to mankind, for, EVER man from within seeks to manifest the concept as is gained (individual) of the universal force, or of the creative element, as is consciousness of same from within, and as these consciousnesses are applied, and as these may be applied in the life, PHYSICAL, of the individual, such information as will assist that entity, that individual, that mind, to attain a more perfect and a better concept of that attempting to be given, the greater becomes the field of vision of the individual, and the more service same may render to its fellow man, for the Universal Force, the powers that be, IS. Man’s concept of same is man’s ABILITY to apply that that IS to the man that lives, whether in a physical, material, moral, mental, or what not, plane. For man’s concept, in its various phases of attempting to give out that consciousness, divides the various phases of the laws of the universal forces in their various channels. There are many HUNDREDS, THOUSANDS, of such illustrations, for, as each INDIVIDUAL is a portion of the Universal Whole, each individual gives its individual concept, until that concept is One with the Whole.

Dear Edgar:

Yours received - thank you ever so kindly. The Virginia Beach paper surely looks good & we do hope to be able to complete that purchase if we only can pull out of this terrible mess we are now in. Possibly I make it worse than it is, yet if it were any worse I don’t know how we could stay in business to enjoy any future prosperity Wall St. might have & no doubt has in store. However it is not complaining, I am just merely assuring you that we WANT TO make the purchase, WANT TO further the work, & surely will when we return to a little firmer financial ground. We feel & hope that it is only a postponement.

For myself all that the work embraces, is really the most important phase of my life - not that it is a smaller secondary consideration, but a first & all embracing consideration & I truly hold my manuscript work the real & all important work. In its remolded form of book form divided into definite chapters & into better application of the hypothesis I think you will find something greater than you or I ever dreamed of. While rewriting your manuscript, towards the end, at a time near Easter I wrote on the Christ Life - fast and furiously I wrote until my mother called me to bed at which time I jumped terribly in fright, so deeply was I in the work. As I gazed upon that I had written, I knew this “I” that was reading that written hadn’t executed that work & I thought of that: “Think not what ye will say - it shall be given ye what ye shall say.” I knew then what that meant & as I leaned my head upon my arms to thank Him that my mind had opened to receive Him, again I experienced that sensation of the table being in motion & felt the power of life. I am not waiting for death to see Christ, or experience God’s Kingdom enjoyed fully by Christ, but like Christ I hope to be able, some day to interpret that Kingdom in physical terms embraced in a full physical concept of that Kingdom. Other experiences are constantly coming up, but I certainly rate my philosophical pursuits more important than any other. Thus you may understand how & why I have not only kept plugging at my manuscript but at times - not always, - found relief in it.

Lately it seems everything we do in the market is wrong & I just can’t understand why. It may be one thing or another, but it gets me unless the interpretation lies in the lesson that we SHOULD NOT SPECULATE IN THE MARKET. That we or I should rely upon Him for succor not on the market - YET THAT is not altogether what past readings have said at all. I seem puzzled by that last reading. The first part of it where much is given pertaining to other things than just direct stock market prices. Now what is your interpretation?

Another thing if it is not right for ME to speculate how can it be right for me to act in that capacity or agency for others? It is not exactly clear to me. I would be better off NOT speculating, but is this the lesson, or is it rather that it is more important to learn some spiritual truth through physical application in form of speculation, thus suffering the results, than to not speculate, not suffer & also not learn. I’d love to take a reading on this. Why have we been all wrong in everything done lately?

Here is a reading I have given some thought to & that I would like to have taken, please.

Have Eddie & I before you. Also my mind & its concept of Spiritual laws as applied in physical life. It seems to me that every Spiritual law or every possibility within the One Spirit Action has its expression in material terms. If I imagine a fog lamp - i.e. a lamp that will pierce the fog or mist, yet do no other damage to animate or inanimate objects, I should be able to create - seemingly outside of myself, - this condition or this lamp. I should be able to project this idea as something outside of myself, because every phemized [phenomenalized (?)] idea within myself is but the result of a higher manifestation of the same force that is outside of myself expressing itself in lower dimensions. Thus we have the complete concept - i.e. I am the power that manifests in atomic form of light, heat, emotions, desires ETC & I may express or apply this power materially according to my physical consciousness’s knowledge of the laws governing the manifestation of its Universal Force in the atomic sectors. Now we are ready. I have an idea of a lamp or light that will be practical for use by oceangoing vessels, R.R. engines, automobiles ETC that will cause clear sensuory [sensory?] vision in the midst of a fog & mist. The light force, then to disintegrate or scatter the mist or fog force. You will give us detailed instructions as to the construction of such a light, in order that this idea within self may be expressed outside of self - i.e. in terms of lower dimensions of manifestation of that which “self” is. If a lamp now on the market may be modified to produce this effect of piercing fog, you will tell us the name of the light, where it may be purchased & what modifications should be made on this lamp in order that it may be used in a practical manner for movable objects as above mentioned that would benefit greatly from the use of such a light. This has already been seen by [137].

I think you will find this an interesting reading & that there will be an indication in the reading of my at last awakening to the application in physical terms of the concept I at last have become conscious of. I am not selling oil in the ground but the principal by which the atomic force evolves into oil by virtue of the One Spiritual impulse. Oil isn’t in the ground, it is in the One Force, that manifests by certain laws as ground & oil. Learning the laws governing the manifestation of the One Force in the atomic form of earth, & in the atomic force of oil, we learn what is called geology or a branch included in geology, but by learning of the creation of that called earth & oil we learn how 2 variations of force may combine to form that called earth & oil or to put it differently within the One Mind is complete knowledge of every expression in physical terms, then our physical minds have but to gain a consciousness of every possibility within of our subconscious selves to be able to express this possibility materially. How may we gain this knowledge? Either introspectively by direct communication with the One Mind, the Parenert [Parent?] Mind of God, or objectively & introspectively as your interpretations of our dreams. The Infinite Force is settling certain expressions through finite forces as one batch of molten iron may mould into many links of one chain. Each finite Being is capable of finite expression of the infinite, according to the finite’s consciousness of infinite existence as exemplified by the intellect of the finite Being & the Will of that Being. The finite Being, seeking to give to other Beings this concept of the Whole or Infinite, seeks to enlarge the consciousness of finite Beings, or acts are in creative purpose with the object of the infinite’s expression in finite form. Such was Christ’s idea & Will while in finite & it is this knowledge He tried to feed the finite consciousness in order that the finite expression might fall heir to self conscious infinite expression, for the latter may be accomplished only to the degree our subconscious selves absorbs the food of knowledge which experience in finite world may yield. The food that man lives eternally upon is the knowledge his consciousness may awaken to while on earth - thus: “Do Ye Love me? Then Feed My Lambs” Feed them that which will make them an awakened self consciousness in the Infinite - the awakening may only be achieved through a broadening of the consciousness capable of being achieved in this plane. Thus service to Man in physical plane is service to God, for the aiding of the Cause of Creation is making Self a direct servant of the One purpose of the One God.

Well, I guess that is enough & deep enough too. As you exactly, sometimes I get terribly blue, down in the mouth & discouraged - particularly in these trying days. Often I am confused, particularly when [137] asks: “Why is everything given in reading wrong lately & why are we in such a terrible shape?” Sometimes he hints that he & his family are sort of the worse for me & my work - yet inwardly [137] is faithful & sometimes I almost feel as though maybe I should leave him to enjoy his own prosperity - but the very thot arouses a contrary fight within me. It is His Will, not mine that must be done, & if it is His Will that [137] & I both learn something, more important than making a few dollars, then that is what I must abide by under any conditions. Furthermore why blame God for my own personal mistakes? While I wish I could get right, I guess I never will until I learn to fully control myself whether it is impulses to buy & sell on the market or my own emotions. Self control goes with understanding & lack of the former nullifies the benefits of the latter. So like you I guess it wont pay to wine [whine?] or wish one could be a million miles away or dead or what not, but to stick it out & rely on Him instead of trying to plunge here & there to satisfy human desires. The trouble you see is my own, for I sold SHORT pending the possibility of the Failure spoken of in this morning’s reading. Silly to do that right after a smash & before a possible start of a big upward movement the 12TH. Better to do nothing & wait developments until after the 12TH. Whose fault is that God’s or my own? Had I sat quiet & waited a few days much might have been given me & in the next 6 weeks much of the financial damage done might be repaired. Of course if the failure is announced we’ll profit - but it MAY NOT be announced & then what? Believe me I’m ready to be still! No use crying, - however darn bad things are they would be worse without my psychic, philosophical & other work. Its crazy to be long of the market when its going down, short when its going up - darned if I don’t think I’m jinxed & I’d like to know how I could break it.
