This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of October, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [257], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [257], mentally, physically, spiritually and materially, in Space 1522, American Furniture Co., 666 Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Ill., and advise him of his developments during past few months; giving his deficiencies and the improvements he can attain in the months to come. After this review, please answer the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257].

3. To review the activities of the entity, physically, mentally, spiritually, materially, - much might be said for or against any or all of these phases of the entity’s experience.

4. Rather would there be given, as has so oft been given, that which if applied in the experience may bring that contentment and harmony which makes the living experience of any entity the more worth while.

5. In the physical, - as has so oft been indicated for the entity, - there are special needs that the entity take the proper precautions as to the health, without it becoming such a problem as to be thought ONLY of; else there may be the inability, in this experience, of enjoying, to the fullest extent, the efforts of the entity.

6. These precautions have not always been truly taken. For the appetites, the desires of sociability, or of one phase or another, have not brought this full consideration in the experience.

7. That there are better physical conditions in the present than ordinarily is indicated. Then, as has so oft been indicated for the entity, there should be the budgeting of its time, its efforts, its activity; taking the time to play, to labor; to increase its affability in its associations with family, home, friends. And the efforts to increase same should be in such measures as to not only be in the attitude or frame of mind, but to be well-balanced, well in accord with the happenings of the moment, not only in the political, the financial, the economic affairs of its own environs but of the world in general.

8. To some this would indicate the requiring of more time, - and is looked on by the entity the more often as an impractical thing; yet a few moments spent in this way and manner each day, or each week, or each month, SYSTEMATICALLY, REGULARLY, would bring results that have NOT yet been attained; though the entity is so oft well-spoken of in many circles as to its efforts in so many directions.

9. But again we would say, have ye determined what is the ideal relationship of self to things spiritual? Do ye not too oft find fault with others in this direction, and yet guilty of the very fault as found in others?

10. What is thy ideal in relationships to thy home, thy family, thy friends? Do ye not oft neglect the opportunities that are thine, in this direction?

11. In thy speech of idealism, are ye consistent in thy analysis of the intent and purposes? Are they not the more oft turned to only those activities in which SELF may be the better spoken of, or be in the better position to control or to direct the activities of others?

12. Is this thy ideal?

13. These things should be well analyzed by thy self; not just thought on once and then not again until reminded when ye ask for such instructions! Rather let them become a part of thy daily life; and ye will listen the more oft, and ye will guide thyself - in body, in mind, in spiritual undertakings - to greater use of thy material benefits.

15. (Q) What does my body need now to bring it to a normal physical and mental condition? (A) To be consistent in following those suggestions which have been indicated as necessary in the experience.

16. (Q) Is the condition healed entirely in intestines and rectum? (A) So far as the outward or inward appearance is concerned, very good; but remember, with any great strain, these are weaknesses that may again bring disturbing forces and influences.

17. (Q) Why the tired feeling across small of back? (A) The imperfectly balanced circulation. Hence the needs of the suggested applications occasionally of massage, hydrotherapy, sudden change of temperatures externally and internally, for the best conditions. When there is pressure, or tiredness, or pain.

18. (Q) During winter season what foods best to aid me and keep weight normal? (A) This has been indicated again and again, and we do not find it has changed materially. Those foods that are easily assimilated, without too much of that which is fat building, - that is, without too much sugars or starches.

19. (Q) Are all organs of body normal now? (A) Their IMPULSES in their functionings are normal. To say that all organs in ANY body are normal - not only in this one, but in any body - would depend upon what is termed normalcy! For the BODY, normal!

20. (Q) Any treatments I can take at Medinah Club for my betterment? (A) Read what has just been given.

21. (Q) Please detail plan I can now adopt for my best mental development. (A) This we have given again and again. Try it once!

22. (Q) Considering Radio Cabinets in the factory of American and the mind of Morgan Simmons, now with me in Space 1522, what development has taken place? (A) This has been FAIRLY satisfactory; not altogether so in the mind of Morgan Simmons.

23. (Q) Can I expect, and will I receive, a fair commission on the first sales? (A) May expect to receive a fair commission. Remember the policies of the organization, and - as self has been warned - make self conform to same, and you will be better off in ALL of your dealings and contacts and connections.

24. (Q) Should Simmons take additional cabinets for December, January, February and March? (A) This can best be determined by Simmons, for there is the questioning and the depending upon MANY of the various conditions.

As we find, SOME will be taken.

25. (Q) Considering furniture business and plant ability at Martinsville, Va., how many cabinets daily should I advise American to build? (A) Those that there are orders for; that, no more!

26. (Q) Since General Electric and American have had their first experience, and if it has been satisfactory, how much volume should American plan to take for season of 1939-40 from General Electric? (A) That it can handle in a way and manner that is in keeping with its policies. That it will do, and no more.

Do not attempt to disrupt such a policy!

27. (Q) Have I conducted my negotiations properly and to the satisfaction of Simmons? (A) Read what has been indicated here, and you will find that you have partially so, but that there has been the attempt to push - push - push, in a way that has brought some disruption in the policies; and this is not always good!

28. (Q) How can I further gain the full confidence of Morgan Simmons and Dillon Ford of American? (A) By being more in accord with the policies of the organization.

29. (Q) Should Simmons endeavor to take on additional business for other factories around Martinsville, Va., or plan for his own factory only? (A) This again must be determined by the policies already inaugurated. For these, as we have indicated, are what has made the organization - in its own field - one of the ones that can be relied upon! DON’T disrupt that.

30. (Q) What are the prospects for me for 1939-40 with American? (A) Very good.

31. (Q) With the Brunswick Company in Space 912, Mersman Company office? (A) These will depend upon activities as we have indicated, and the connections as made. These are fair.

32. (Q) How long will Brunswick season go with 1940? (A) This again depends. This becomes a problem because of changes and radical activities as may arise through the various connections as may come about. This should be very good. For the seasons through 1939-40 will be gradually more and more on the increase. For, the abilities of the buying public will in America be increased through ‘40.

33. (Q) How many sets should they sell of present models in 1939-40 season? (A) This again depends upon how hard they will work. Answer that, and then you may answer how many sets. There should be what has been referred to as an ideal. Does the individual keep that, then? or is it just words? If they are just words, then leave it all alone. If it is the policy and the truth, then use ‘em!

34. (Q) What effect will European war have on Furniture and Radio business in ‘40? (A) It will gradually increase.

35. (Q) Will the war go through the entire year 1940? (A) If it goes through the year of 1939, it’ll go through ‘41 and ‘42!

36. (Q) Will Hitler survive year 1940? (A) And more yet!

37. (Q) Should I consider development of Julius Kahn’s new record changer, now in Cleveland, Ohio, for Brunswick line? (A) Be very well to consider.

38. (Q) Is it advisable to hold the convertible preferred stock of Republic Steel after April 1, 1940, or better put the investment in some other company? (A) This depends upon developments in relationships to foreign activities.

39. (Q) On the new business of G.E. with American, which price range best for American? 8.55, 9.50 or higher priced cabinets? (A) The medium priced are the better, because the change - that is, the increase in this development - will be the greater in the moderate priced range.

40. (Q) What is best range of prices for American in the Bed Room and Dining Room line for 1939-40 markets, beginning Nov. 1, ‘39? (A) As has been the policy heretofore, hold to.
