-
GC: You will have [257], his business associations and associates, and investments. Please advise him on the proper procedure in their order to accomplish his plans in an orderly manner.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257], present in this room, his associations and relations, his investments and problems. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Please examine his investments as to holding same or when to sell, or how to replace: Republic Steel Common? (A) Hold this for the present.
-
(Q) Florsheim Common A? (A) In the next trading that makes for any appreciable change that will be for the upturn, we would dispose here - and reinvest in others that may be appointed, or pointed out at that time.
-
(Q) United States Playing Card? (A) Hold to these.
-
(Q) Grumman Air Products? (A) These are well to hold, though there will be some depreciations and then a change for the better when there are some affiliated activities and associations. These, then, we would hold in the present, but later - just before the holiday season - consider a change in same.
-
(Q) Does that mean to sell them at that time? (A) This may mean to sell them at that time. When there is a good deal of activity in same, sell them.
-
(Q) United Aero Products? (A) These are very good. We would maintain the position in the present.
-
(Q) General Electric? (A) Good.
-
(Q) R.C.A.? (A) This will be better a little bit later, but as an investment very good.
-
(Q) Will inflation affect these stocks this year? (A) Not to any appreciable extent.
-
(Q) Is there a better investment for security of investment and good interest returns? (A) These as we find are very well in the manners as indicated.
-
(Q) Examine the Plastic Shop of the Tri-Plastic Co., #101 Prince St., NYC., upper floor. Can I make a success of this to substitute these products for other plastics not obtainable? (A) This will require a great deal of consideration, and a bit more research, yet as we find it would be well to consider this as a part of the project as related to things that might be manufactured for government use in the camps and the like. These would offer an outlet for activities, especially in the factories, or factory as might be considered at Arthurdale, and also would appeal to some of those in the positions where governmental orders would be obtainable. In THAT sense we would consider it seriously, then.
-
(Q) Would I do better with Mr. Andrews of G.E. as a partner in plastic business? or as a customer? (A) As a customer for the present. A little later might be considered as an associate.
-
(Q) Would the small radio cabinets be made out of this product? (A) They CAN be, but those that have been and are being made out of another plastic servant are proving successful in some and not so well in others. THIS can be made a better tonal product than the soya bean or any of those combinations. From this standpoint, - while as indicated it would require some research, - this can be worked out very satisfactorily.
-
(Q) Wherein lies the biggest field for this product? (A) As indicated, - utensils about army camps.
-
(Q) Can I benefit my knowledge on this subject by going to the Forest Products Co. of Madison, Wis.? (A) Can benefit materially from same.
-
(Q) Will Mr. and Mrs. Uris who run the plant be able to continue the business with my help? (A) If there is the ability for there to be sufficient orders so that capital may be interested, yes. Without that, it is very doubtful.
-
(Q) Should this be moved to Arthurdale or left in NYC where it is? (A) Consider that indicated. If there is the ability to interest others, and there are the possibilities for it in the line of some of those in authority in the purchasing department of the army camps and units, then move to Arthurdale. Otherwise, no.
-
(Q) Skandia, Arthurdale and this plant are all related in the wood field. Can I with partner Weisburgh aid carry it out, without injury to Brunswick? (A) Can aid, and carry it out without injury to Brunswick.
-
(Q) Considering these activities and the Brunswick Co. at 244 Madison Ave., what are my prospects for being successful again in business? (A) If there are the abilities to deliver the orders as will be offered, and that are in the making, there is little doubt of being successful.
-
(Q) When should I consider a financial partner in Brunswick, or will I be able to carry on entirely with the government? (A) As we find, in the spring of ‘42 we would consider a financial partner, from the very showing that will have been made with government.
-
(Q) Will Braxton Bryan be able to finance Brunswick entirely thru his connection with the Dept. of Agriculture, Farm Security Bureau? His office is 3214 in the South Bldg., of Dept. of Agriculture. (A) For the present, yes.
-
(Q) Please advise me how to keep the friendship and respect of Bryan and associates 100%. (A) Just being self.
This is indicating, then, that there is to be no posing, no overstretching, no underestimating, nor ANY change in the actual fact.
-
(Q) I desire to aid [487] [See 487-29] to better himself in the army. Who is best to go thru? Starling, Gen. Guillon, or someone else in Washington? (A) As we find, there may be a combination of Guillon and Starling through the very applications made. Let them speak for themselves, and not by any other than friendship and the conditions themselves.
-
(Q) Advise me about operating plan for my best interest, as to what to do first and second and third, in order that I can think clearly. (A) First is the association and the operation of Arthurdale plant on the basis for the complete consideration of the government activities. Second is the Brunswick, advising with and the delivery of orders that are in the offing. Thirdly, the other associated activities to KEEP the hold upon government agencies.
-
(Q) Should I plan to go to Arthurdale again for a long stay? (A) This as we find will be advisable, though there may be breaks in the periods of stay there. But personal interest, personal activity are the best proofs to any group or agency, and it is upon these in the present that the entity must rely.
-
(Q) When should I go to begin this? (A) Any time after the present emergencies in the other associations and connections are settled. Within the next ten days, two weeks.
-
(Q) When best for me to take Bahr of G.E. to Arthurdale? (A) After the satisfying of those situations in Rockford.
-
(Q) Is there any other thing I should do with the Dept. of Agriculture now? (A) Only in keeping in order all of those projects and the proof of their value in helpfulness in community cooperative service.
-
(Q) Should I plan to see Mrs. Roosevelt now or later? (A) Let this be as circumstance would come or demand.
-
(Q) Is there any other guidance that I may now have to carry out the plans necessary for my mental, spiritual and business rehabilitation? (A) The plan is before you. If it is followed, we may expect success.
-
We are through for the present.
