1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [257], who is at the Drake Hotel, Chicago, Ill. Also you will have before you his business associations, conditions and possibilities at Elizabethton, Tennessee for benefit of the body, and his associations with Charles O’Connor, E. C. Alexander - of Elizabethton, Tennessee - and George F. Dugger, Attorney. You will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding these.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [257], and those associations - or contemplated conditions as regarding associations - with O’Conner, Alexander, Dugger.

3. Now, irrespective of questions that might be asked concerning these, or have been asked - be very mindful of these conditions; for while we find the propositions as have been presented to the body, and the conditions as surround the development and the establishment of the institution, all are good; yet there are many things yet to be considered before one might expect to receive large returns very soon from such an association at the present time. True, property in and about Elizabethton will be valuable; yet there are many places with as much return, or more, without the risk as at PRESENT attached with the purchase of such property; for the greater part of these conditions - that is, the output, the financial standing, the financial position of the surrounding territory and of that to be manufactured, IS ON PAPER rather than an established fact!
