GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the improvement of same. You will answer any questions I may ask you regarding same.
-
EC: We have the body here - this we have had before.
-
Now, we find in many respects the body shows considerable improvement from that as we have had here before. While there is considerable of the nerve tension still shown in the functioning of the body, yet the general relaxation and the added forces from the contact with air, sunshine, outdoor, bring better conditions for the body.
-
We would, however, change now for some conditions that are to be met through the bringing about of the proper eliminations as affect the system as a whole, so that there may be less irritation and more blood and nerve building for the body.
-
At least once to twice each week there should be the thorough massage over the whole body, with the full alignment of the cerebro-spinal system, that there may be no impingements, or no conditions that are left in the body through such conditions.
-
And add for the general building as this, for a tonic, blood purifier, and for the general upbuilding of the body:
-
To one-half gallon of rain water, or distilled water, add:
Sassafras Root Bark (gathered green)…1 ounce, Prickly Ash Bark…1 ounce.
- Reduce this by simmering (not boiling) to one-half (1/2) the quantity. Then add:
Simple Syrup…1 ounce, Tincture Valerian…1/2 ounce, Elixir Calisaya…1 ounce.
-
Cut one (1) dram Balsam of Tolu in two (2) ounces of grain alcohol and add to solution.
-
Shake well together before the dose is taken. Take teaspoonful half an hour before each meal - and there will be no trouble in eating the meals after a few days!
-
Keep the eliminations thoroughly throughout the system. Be careful that this is looked after, and that plenty of water is taken, externally and internally.
-
Keep up the massage until at least the whole of the quantity of medicinal properties is taken - and take all of these unless they should show that there is disintegration in the properties. Well that this be kept in a cool place. Do that. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would it be best, then, to move the body home while these treatments are given? (A) No! Best to keep in the air and in the country!
-
We are through for the present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/1/28 Mother [2457]‘s letter: “Many thanks for the rdg. Had the prescription filled and brought it along, and [259] took her first dose this morning. Gave her a good ‘all over’ last night using olive oil… […] said when [259] first came down she was a finicky eater, but after three days out in the open she ‘lit to’ and ate everything in sight, eating one meal a day - all day long. My, but she does look so much better, but still is sharp at times. Her nerves are not steady yet. The day the rdg. was given she was broken out with nettlerash [urticaria]. Waked me up in the night scratching…
“Thought I’d come down on Tuesday and go back Friday a.m. See, that gives massage treatments on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Is olive oil all right to treat with? She wants to know if she can spend the weekend at home sometime. What do you think? Won’t do it until I hear whether you think it advisable or not…
“[259] is making a cake for dinner. Our dinner reads like this: Mustard and turnip greens, fried chicken, corn bread, cake and peaches, coffee and water. That’s the main menu, maybe some side dishes, but there’s plenty, and [259] puts away five corn muffins at a meal, also FIVE biscuits at breakfast.”
R2. 4/6/28 EC’s letter: “I’m glad to know that [259] is getting along pretty nicely. I really think it would be helpful and beneficial to her to spend the week-ends at home. I hope she does, and that she continues to have that good appetite and stays outdoors and keeps close to nature. That breaking out or rash is nothing more nor less than the nervous trouble finding an expression in a different way. I’m sure you find that it comes and goes. It may be allayed with a little soda water, either rubbed on or taken internally - but don’t think that it is reaching the base of the trouble, or cause of same, when it stops it. Sunshine and proper manipulation will be the only thing that will do that, and the general building up of the system. The tonic that she is taking may have a tendency to make that re-appear. If it does, have her cut down on the dose, change her diet, or keep closer to a vegetable diet - and stay outdoors more. Be sure she sleeps with plenty of air.”
R3. 5/11/28 Mother wrote: “[259] is improving steadily. Many thanks to you and the Work. Don’t you think it best to wait until she finishes the bottle of medicine before giving her another rdg.? She has only had that one day headache since she has been in the country. Brown as an Indian and NATURAL roses in her cheeks. I was up there this afternoon, gave her a treatment. She still has a little breaking out now and then, and on the ball, the ‘bunion’ joint of her foot. Is an inch or two shorter than I (goodbye my clothes!). I surely do miss her. I think she was born to live out of doors. She is more at home there than in the house.”
R4. 6/19/28 Mother verified appointment saying: “[259] is staying with Mother for a while so will be there… Her headaches are some better.” [She submitted questions.]
R5. 6/25/28 EC gave Ck. Rdg. 259-5.
