This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of November, 1941, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., through Mr. [370].

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [2613].

3. In giving an interpretation of the records, there is much from which to choose.

4. This choice of that as may be given from the records is made with the desire that this information may be a helpful experience to those who have the care, the opportunity of encouraging and assisting in the development of this entity; so that the entity may be enabled to fill those purposes for which it sought expression in this particular period.

5. As is seen from an analysis of the entity’s abilities, it would be considered by some as an old soul. In this particular reference, it indicates long periods between the appearances or manifestations in the earth.

6. Hence the peculiar or rather unusual manner in which the entity approaches all phases of human experience; and especially that as related to the spiritual manifestations in the earth. For, there had not been the physical appearance since those periods when as a child the entity saw those activities in the days of the early church (as it is called); or in the period when there were the persecutions of those influences that brought into being the teachings and the coordination in activities of the companions of the Master in the earth.

7. Thus the greater part of the present analysis would be directed to those who have the care, the welfare of this entity.

8. Early in the experience there will be the attraction to the opposite sex. It will require a great deal of tact, of discretion, of teaching on the part of those who would acquaint the entity with the relations of sex in the early portion of its life, as related one to another.

9. There are those abilities as the musician. Hence the trainings in the present should be directed to the preparations either as a gospel singer or as a definite work in missionary fields of activity. These should NOT be by force, but knowing the abilities there should be the aid, the counsel, the direction in ALL forms of service and activity that would bring into the entity’s experience those influences which would enable the entity to fill such service, such activities in this material plane.

10. As there are the understandings of those about the entity, who are responsible for its entrance into this present plane, - the awakening of the consciousness of the spirit of truth, of the Christ within, is that necessary in each soul.

11. This aroused, then let there be counsel, guidance, tenets, daily application of those tenets in the dealings with those with whom the entity comes in contact.

12. Let the training, the developments be in those fields, with those warnings kept in mind as indicated; not as something held over the entity but as something to be understood, appreciated, comprehended in the experience of the entity.

13. As to the appearances in the earth:

14. There have been long interims between the incarnations, which is indicated by the manner of approach, the manner in which the entity takes hold of, remembers, visions, sees, hears, feels the experiences.

15. Hence it may be said that the entity is never quite at ease in convention. Then, all the more warning as to the relationships with the opposite sex.

16. Before this the entity was the sister of Mark and Rhoda; hence acquainted with those persecutions that followed the activities in the Holy City; acquainted with and aroused the more by those experiences extolled by the church when Peter was released from prison.

17. Hence all forms of healing, all forms of church activities are at ease with the entity. Its beliefs, its hopes should be encouraged; but fit them into the daily activities in such a way that they do not become stumblingstones instead of steppingstones.

18. In that experience the entity suffered bodily, yet in spirit, in purpose, in mind gained throughout. For, those principles, those tenets, those hopes aroused through those periods of consciousness and of awareness, remain as the guiding lights, the guiding influences in the present experience of the entity.

19. The name then was Mille.

20. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those journeys of the peoples from the Egyptian land again into the Promised Land.

21. The entity was among the children of promise, and acquainted with the laws, the activities, the principles as pertained to the service in and about the tabernacle.

22. In its activities the entity was among those who aided in the embroidering and in the working with those in the preparations of the priestly garments.

23. Hence the innate tendencies for the entity to bedeck itself especially with things where there are dangles, fringes, bells or the like as a part of the dress. These will remain. Hence do not allow principles that are the tenets of its beliefs to become ritualistic and not spiritual in the purport and intent. Thus the warnings again to those about the entity.

24. The name then was Ehtell.

25. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those periods of rebellion and restoration.

26. There the entity was among those active in the services in the Temple of Sacrifice, aiding those in their manner of approach for preparations in body - as well as in practical applications - for the varied services of the ecclesiastical nature, as would be termed today.

27. As to the abilities of the entity in the present:

28. We find that as a teacher, a leader, a minister, a director of preparations for active service, there may be the greatest expression for the entity in this experience.

29. Be mindful as to the warnings indicated, and as to the outlets through which there may be the greater development for the entity.

R1. 12/1/41, Mr. [370]‘s letter: “I immediately went to … on receipt of [2613]‘s Life Rdg. I was overjoyed on receipt of this document to find the wisdom and truth contained therein. It confirmed so much of my own thinking for past 9 yrs. about this wonderful soul whose thinking sometimes transcends the knowledge and understanding of her parents. I recognized, too, some of the restraint, apparent to me because this little girl is in the home of a Scotch Presbyterian minister, liberal in much of his thinking but rigid in some. I sat in the kitchen at 8:30 a.m. where the mother was clearing away the breakfast dishes & read this document sentence & line with long pauses & discussions between. The mother was soon leaving dishes & entering animatedly into the revealing words read & giving local incidents & sayings of [2613] that confirmed what was being read. It was slow reading for an hour and a half & into it also entered the quiet father. They recognize the dangers & warnings on sex tendencies & the non-conventional attitude of [2613]. I think they are much strengthened by understanding & will proceed with added wisdom & with recognition of the difficulties of getting by the S.S. & graded school, that are inclined to think at times that [2613] is just showing ‘smart.’ Anyway, I am thanking the Lord that I am getting closer to him - that one as close to John Mark as [2613] is & whose home our Savior was wont to come in his days with us physically…”

R2. 5/30/44 Father of [2613] requested copy of the Life Rdg. via Mr. [370].

R3. 8/21/44 Mr. [370]‘s letter: “I want a commercial copy of TIR to take to my good friends…[Rev. & Mrs. […] [2613]‘s parents] at …, Ala. and make some effort to reconcile the Rev. […] to the doctrine of reincarnation. As you know, he is interested in [2613]‘s rdg. - he’s kept my book for almost a yr., he is interested. [2613], the little girl has asked me the 2nd time something about the rdg. I pass it off best I can for the Rev.’s sake, for I can’t discuss it with the child without going into the reincarnation doctrine. She is smart - she has understanding beyond the knowledge of her parents, and will react properly when taught properly.”

R4. 9/16/44 “I made the trip to see my good friend Rev […]. He volunteered the information that he let [2613] have the rdg. to read, so something is accomplished that I have long been trying to bring about.”

R5. 6/11/50 Mr. [318]‘s ltr. from T.B. sanitarium: “One of the patients here is Rev. […], Presbyterian minister from …, Ala. He had a Life Rdg. for his daughter [2613]. He believes that Mr. Cayce’s power came from God, he was a great man, and the physical rdgs. brought forth good results when followed out. He doesn’t believe in reincarnation, but he says he will not argue against it.”

B1. 10/21/41 Extract from Mr. [370]‘s letter: “I have two things that prompt me to write today. One is that I wanted to send a material token or ‘thank offerings’ and though modest I hope and pray I will be permitted to send money. The other is prompted by a visit yesterday to a family that is a friend to our family of some long standing. They were a near neighbor (across street from us) in a house that was the manse of our Presbyterian Church. Our friend and his family moved to a small agricultural town in an adjoining county, some 4 or 5 years ago when the depression scattered our church people and crippled, to income, almost to extinction. The head of this family is doing wonderful work in their new manse home and they have some fine outpost Sunday Schools and also chapels where preaching is done and converts made. The most prosperous (spiritually) of these outposts was selected by our friend after inquiry from the judge of that county as to what spot was the toughest and most lawless. The mother in this group is attractive, intelligent, lovable to all that come in contact with her.

“There are two children, a boy 17 now in his second year in high school, president of his class and told me at lunch yesterday that he had made perfect (100) on algebra in test at close of 6 mo. period. Also his mother had previously told me he had ahead 25 or [of?] the 30 tasks assigned to him to read for this year. (But what a pain he was as a mischievous small boy, - he was so mean to that little sister 6 years his junior, and incidentally my favorite of all the family, which was evident to all and accepted as proper by parents.)

“Now what I want to tell you is about this little girl ‘[2613]’ we all call her. The wonders continue to increase and in new revelations about this child from time she showed unbounded energy on the street and across it to our house when she was small, to now just past 8 and in school.

“She was especially a favorite of our youngest daughter as well as all the family. Her remarks, opinions and questioning have always indicated a clear thinking far beyond the elders about her. I think her mother understands her (one can observe at incidents the deep understanding between child and mother).

“The father of this family is a thoroughly orthodox Scotch Presbyterian from South Carolina, but never any way but pleasant and agreeable about his Calvinistic connections. The mother (also from South Carolina) was raised a Methodist. They are not sectarian.

“The father whom I have come to know as […] in contrast to the boy’s name […], has heard me talk much of Mr. Cayce and the work for past 7 years. Each time I gained a new inspiration on some important subject, I exposed it to the air in the presence of ’[…]’. He listened to all my comments, but seldom commented himself. However, he became interested in psychology and studied some with me and took a lecture course at B’ham Southern College here. He joined a Psychology Club with me at the Tutwieler Hotel with some 50 members (of nondescript persuasion). He evidently believes a lot I have told, but my repeated efforts to get the reincarnation doctrine to him has failed, so far as I can judge.

“The mother of course has heard parts of our discussion about the Work. I have in the past urged the mother to get a Life Reading for [2613]. She was always interested, but without comment. However, yesterday before the children came in and while telling me more incidents of [2613]‘s sayings, she said, ‘I still want that Reading for [2613]’ I was delighted to hear her say it. I wish she would write a diary of [2613]‘s sayings.

“Now I want to arrange for this Reading for [2613]. I want this more than I want a check reading on my health. When I have gotten [2613] and her mother started on their true way, I will then ask you to look at me.

“Her full name is [2613], 9 years old.”
