This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of December, 1941, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2634].

3. Now as we find, while conditions have been and are serious, these should not necessarily be fatal.

4. We find that these conditions arise from an unbalancing in the chemical forces of the body - a gland activity as related to a humor latent in the blood flow.

5. Thus this, in the resistances that have been set up by the body, has produced, does produce, a form of strep in the body.

6. These produce very high temperature, becoming very hard upon the activities of the heart, the liver and the kidneys. And these must be kept under consideration as administrations are made for helpful forces for the body.

7. In the present, then, we would administer these:

8. Each morning before anything is taken in the system give one drop of Atomidine in half a glass of water. Do this for three days, leave off two days, give three days again, and so on. And watch the reaction closely.

9. When there are excruciating pains through the liver and stomach area, put an ounce of Atomidine in a pint of hot water, wring out heavy towels from this and apply warm - or hot - across the abdomen.

10. Each evening and each morning massage the body first with cocoa butter, - this especially along the spine - from the base of the brain to at least the middle portion of the spine, gently but thoroughly. Then sponge off with a weak solution of grain alcohol - about a ten percent solution; not rub alcohol, but grain alcohol. This is to reduce the temperature.

11. We would give internally, about twice each day, three to five drops of Glyco-Thymoline.

12. We would almost immediately give an enema - high enema - to cleanse the colon. And every few days keep this up, until there is the whole cleansing of the colon; not worry the body as to cause anxiety, but give this enema body-temperature - the proportions being a level teaspoonful of baking soda and a heaping teaspoonful of table salt dissolved thoroughly in the half gallon of water. In the last water do use Glyco-Thymoline as an antiseptic, - a tablespoonful to the quart and a half of water - or these proportions.

13. Do prepare beef juice and take as a stimuli for the body for gaining strength. This is to be given as medicine, a teaspoonful about every two or three hours, but take at least two to three minutes to sip the teaspoonful - so as to let it be absorbed by the gastric flow in the mouth and in the stomach.

14. DO purify the body, and let the resistances be built up.

15. If there are the tendencies for the slowing of the kidneys, give a little Watermelon Seed Tea. This should not be too much. Do not give unless there is a very high odor from the urine, or a burning or a scarcity of the activity of kidneys and bladder. Prepare this by crushing or cutting very fine a teaspoonful of watermelon seed (that may be procured from a seed store, or the like) and pouring over same a pint of boiling water. Let this steep as ordinary tea, for at least twenty to thirty minutes. This should make a tumbler or glass full, you see. Not all of this is to be taken at once, if taken at all, but during a day - and only taken that one day, you see.

16. Do these, and then in two weeks we would give further instructions.

“I am writing you this so that you may know we are just beginning tomorrow the treatment for [2634] as outlined by you. I have delayed this long because [2634] seemed much better since I have been in touch with you, and for this reason; and for the fact, too, that the treatment would have taken her through Christmas day, when she was counting so on being up.

“I will let you know of her progress, and in the meantime, I ask for your prayers for us.

“I was unable to get the Atomidine in Washington, so the very earliest I could have started her treatment was last Tuesday week. Thank you so much for your help…”

R2. 1/9/42 (Friday) [2634]‘s mother’s letter to EC:

“Today marks the end of the two weeks treatment outlined by you for [2634].

“She is very much better, both physically and mentally. Today, and even yesterday, she was out of bed for a short time. My, but that was a grand sight. I am so grateful.

“Thank you very much for your help and kindness…”

R3. 1/31/42 [2634]‘s mother’s letter to EC:

“For the past three weeks I have had [2634] in a nearby sanitarium just for rest, diet and hydrotherapy treatments. She is coming home next Tuesday. [2634] is not entirely herself as yet, though of course, she is ‘well on the way.’ I would like very much to have another analysis of her blood, but just now the mere mention of ‘blood’ seems to terrify her.

“I am indeed very grateful for all the help I have received from God through you and other sources. I have studied and read Christian Science for a few years and your letter of January 8th [See under 2678-1] seemed just along the same interpretation I have of Science. My daily prayer (many times a day) has been and is yet: ‘Be still and know that I am God,’ and ‘Let the reign of Divine Love be established in me, rule out of me all sin and may Thy word enrich the affections of all mankind and govern them.’

“I shall be most happy to set aside time each day for Divine guidance…”

R4. 2/21/42 [2634]‘s mother’s letter to EC:

“[2634] is holding her own, but she is getting a bit discouraged because it has been so long. She still runs a temperature between 100 and 101, sometimes a bit more, and sometimes a little under, and is so weak and tired most of the time. I am so anxious to know if the bloodstream has been cleared of the strep infection, and [2634] is too weak and nervous to allow this by a laboratory check up…”

R5. 3/2/42 [2634]‘s mother’s letter to EC:

“She weighs less than 100 (her normal weight was 115-120). She is so weak and pale. At night and at times during the day while sleeping, she perspires so much. While I realize this is one way of throwing off the poisons, it is so weakening. She eats fairly well and every other day gets an injection (1 cc) of concentrated liver extract. I have been considering trying to give her Vitamin Perles [sic] (with the different vitamins, including B and D, as well as liver and iron)…”

B1. 12/10/41 Letter of mother, […]: “How grateful I am for your help in my trouble. Thank you so much for your prompt reply to my telephone appeal. [2634], my daughter by my first marriage, has been in bed for nearly four weeks. The doctors here have diagnosed her trouble as a recurrence of the rheumatic fever with a strep infection in the blood stream. For this very little, if any, hope is given. She has been running a very high temperature at times (though at four this afternoon it was down to 99.8 and earlier in the day it was a bit under normal), has been quite nauseated with considerable gas causing great discomfort and weakness and above all she is very depressed. Though since yesterday at noon she has been very much brighter both mentally and physically. At the time you have set for her Reading, she will be at our home, her home, in Virginia, in bed.”
