This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 105th Street & Ocean, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of September, 1931, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [264].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [264] - this we have had before. In MANY respects and ways we find the physical conditions of the body on the improve. There has been some change in the general physical condition also. Those of the eliminations of the growth itself are apparent, and that there would come a period of set-back - apparently so - this would not be a real one, unless worry and uneasiness, or of fear, rises with same; but with the eliminations, we will find there will be the REMOVING of same. Hence those activities that would be given in manipulative and corrective forces, much as in that of delivery will be necessary a little later with the conditions. The blood supply bettered, the heart’s action nearer to normal, the percussions that have been given are WELL - Be sure same are kept at the upper END of the ganglia that they affect, so that their reactions to the organs of the pelvis - to which these will react - are in the manner for the ejection or elimination, rather than for that as would raise same - see?

2. In the matter of those applications, then, that are being given - we would not alter in the present those that have been outlined. Keep those applications, and when it becomes necessary to meet those conditions, as has been given, MEET them in that MANNER as has been outlined. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) Would the concussion over the 7th cervical, 12th dorsal, 1st and 2nd and 3rd lumbar, be of benefit to this body at all times? (A) It has been since this has been given! Do not be too severe, and - as has been suggested - be sure these are kept to the UPPER portion of the ganglia - see?

4. (Q) Should concussion be given at time of menses? (A) As has been suggested, there should be that as is much the same as given at delivery periods.

5. (Q) Would it be of benefit to this body to take ash and the rays of mornings, and the manipulations in afternoon? leaving off ash? (A) With the changes, these will be well in the PRESENT - as has been INDICATED in existent condition. When there is the NECESSITY FOR more blood reaction faster, we would give more often - see? That rote would be well in the present. Keep the mental SEEING self eliminating, WELL, DOING things, STRONG - and it’ll come to pass! for those applications, those things being done, are BUILDING bettered resistance, better activities, better nerve energy, more blood supply, more nerve resistance, and the HEART’S action MUCH BETTERED. Because there at times are those trembly sensations over the body, and tingling about the heart, and a feeling as of blood running FROM head, THIS the system’s ADJUSTING itself to MEET the PHYSICAL conditions in body. Know that, that necessary is being DONE - will the mental keep that outline as has been given.

6. (Q) What is the condition of the growth? (A) As indicated, this HAS been eliminating, and will AGAIN reoccur in a much more determined manner; for as it LOOSENS itself (as it is), this must of NECESSITY be ELIMINATED, else there might be more than ONE growth - see? or tendon or connection, see?

7. (Q) Has the growth turned loose from the tube to which it was attached? (A) Indicated, as has been given, that this IS - and will ENTIRELY be loosed. Hence the necessity to meet that that will arise, see?

8. (Q) Should battery be continued? (A) As has been indicated, this creates an equal balance in the system, and is best that this be kept as near normal as possible.

9. (Q) What arrangements should body make to get her treatments after Dr. Brenner goes to Va. Beach? [GD’s note: Dr. Brenner had been planning to settle in Va. Beach, but did not.] (A) Go there with him!

10. (Q) Under present conditions, how long before growth will be eliminated? (A) In the next period, and the second - and we SHOULD be coming nearer normal, and able to do most anything it would desire.

11. (Q) Is this body physically and spiritually capable of being a scientific analyst? (A) Capable, and WILL be physically able. WELL to use it on self at present! THEN we may see better how to apply on others! That which has been experienced IN SELF may be best given to another. While individual experiences are personal, or rather individual, these give that NECESSARY experience that will enlighten and enliven the abilities of others; for each soul needs only that awakening to be able to create in the physical all necessary for that soul’s development through any period. Learn what that means scientifically, and it may be applied in self - as it will needs be - and it may be given to others.

12. (Q) How should she begin? (A) With those studies that make known both the physical and metaphysical activities of the organs in the body, as they represent human experience.

13. (Q) How may the body finance her stay at Va. Beach while continuing her treatments under Dr. Brenner? (A) If that is the desire, it may be taken care of through the regular channels as will be necessary to take care of same.

R1. 9/16/31 Mrs. [264]‘s letter to EC:

“Since hearing that some members of the A.R.E.] Board are holding out for recognition from the A.M.A. [for Dr. Brenner to settle in Va. Beach and work with the rdgs. and Miss Annie Cayce’s nursing home], I wish to submit the following personal experience to them, through you, should it meet with your approval:

“Since 5/23/30 I’ve been following the readings in detail, hoping to eliminate a huge abdominal growth. All of this time I have believed that I would accomplish this without an operation, and at times I would improve marvelously. However, knowing the attitude of many of my friends, I was not willing to admit to them that I knew I’d get well without the operation, as I did not want to be criticized, and at times after quite a discussion with one of them, I’d go backward. This state of affairs existed until about two months ago, when I had a terrible setback and I saw I could not go on, as I was; that I’d either have to follow God or mammon if I ever expected to reach my goal. I made up my mind that I’d think this over for once and all, and abide by the decision of either being operated on at once, or following the readings regardless of what anyone said, and telling everybody I never expected to be operated on. The latter choice so permeated my whole being that I could not get away from it. So, with renewed strength and faith I started all over again, reaping my first permanent results. The growth is getting smaller every day, and my mental attitude and general condition far exceed what they have been in twelve years. In other words, by following the Truth, ‘line upon line,’ I am getting well.

“In view of the above, I feel that the new Association A.R.E.] should either associate themselves with the A.M.A. and run a general hospital, using the diagnosis of a practicing physician, or we should abandon that idea entirely, putting our whole faith and trust in the readings, and diagnosis of same, and the phenomena expressed through you.

“Having been a patient at Cayce Hospital for seven weeks I have found from my own experience and from observation that the readings are fully adequate to take care of any condition which should arise in any patient.

“A little quotation hanging on the wall in Dr. E. P. Brenner’s chiropractic] office - he is giving me my adjustments, and following the readings with me - expresses just the attitude which I believe we should take toward the A.M.A., and the world in general: DO NOT ARGUE WITH FRIENDS WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN OUR WAY OF TREATING. THEY WILL ONLY DISTURB YOUR MIND WHICH MAY INTERFERE WITH THE CURE. THE ONLY WAY TO CONVINCE THEM IS TO GET WELL AND STAY WELL.

“By doing this prayerfully and fearlessly, we can get such results that our light may so shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify our Father which is in heaven.”

R2. lO/23/31 She wrote: “I am improving all the time. My condition is exactly as outlined in my last rdg. The growth is working harder to pass than it ever has before, and yet my general condition is holding up just fine, particularly my heart and my digestion, and you know that means a lot. At times, I have been so impatient to pass the growth, but really now, since I have gotten so strong, I feel sure it is best that it did not pass before. I am sure I can stand it alright now.”
