GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2645].
-
Now as we find, in the present the conditions have become somewhat a complication of disturbances, involving the circulation, the activities of the body and the general physical as well as mental reactions of the body.
-
These are conditions as we find them, then, with this body, [2645]:
-
In giving that as may be helpful or beneficial, all of the disturbances must be taken into consideration - from their inception or source.
-
The disturbance began from a catarrhal condition in the nasal passages and the antrum. From this condition there was set up a dripping, or an excretion that became an inflammatory influence to the gastric flow in the stomach or those portions of the stomach - the upper or cardiac portion.
-
These were the periods when there were the antrum AND nasal passage troubles, and some disturbance or upsets in the digestive system.
-
Following this these turned into a condition through the duodenum and liver. These caused the periods of some temperature, some colds and congestion following one after the other, with an upsetting through the eliminations of the body. And there were irritations also to the superficial circulation.
-
All of these now combine, through the disturbances that have been created by the lack of the proper assimilating of activities into the lymph and emunctory circulation, to make the involvements in the muscular tissue, to the lymph circulation in throat and face, and the stomach AND the liver itself.
-
These are the causes, the sources AND the disturbances.
-
While the administrations which have been made from time to time have relieved temporarily, these have NOT been in the direction to alleviate the sources and the disturbances produced in the functioning of the organs of the body, and the disturbance in the sources of the inflammation.
-
Now there is the stiffness in joints, - as hands, ankles, knees, feet, and in neck and face, as well as - still - those troubles through the inability of proper assimilation in the body building.
-
Then, in making administrations for beneficial conditions for this body, we would follow through on ALL of these, if there will be brought the better relief for this body:
-
First, begin with the application of Castor Oil Packs over the liver area, for at least an hour each day for three days. Use at least three thicknesses of flannel, preferably old flannel - not new. This would be saturated in Castor Oil and applied over the liver area. Let this extend well over the liver AND the caecum area on the right side. Apply as warm as can be well stood, and then apply the electric pad - after covering same so as to prevent soiling of linens or the clothing, and allow this to remain on at low heat for the full period.
-
Rest for three days, then have the Oil Packs again for three days, one hour each day.
-
During the three-day rest period from the Packs we would have a good, thorough hydrotherapy treatment, - at Reilly’s. This would include a colonic irrigation, then a steam bath, - this more a fume bath than steam or dry heat. But in a dry air cabinet have the fumes of Witchhazel. Afterward the body would be massaged thoroughly, and preferably with Peanut Oil.
-
After the second series of the Packs we would have another complete hydrotherapy treatment. Following THIS hydrotherapy treatment, begin with the electrical treatment applying to the body the electrical forces that stimulate the circulation - the electricity applied through the hands, by the one making this massage AFTER the whole hydrotherapy and massage treatment has been given. Do not in the first days apply this to head or face, but more particularly to the area across the diaphragm and the liver AND along the cerebro-spinal system. Do not give this too strong nor too long.
-
Keep these up until eight or ten such treatments have been given. These would be following, of course, the Castor Oil Packs and all the others of the hydrotherapy save the colonic - which may not be necessary after the second, third or the fourth, if all the mucous has been eliminated from the colon area.
-
After this keep up the massage with the Peanut Oil, which would be done then every other day.
-
In the matter of the diet, - keep to plenty of those foods in which Vitamins A, D and B-1 are more prevalent.
-
Do these and we should bring better conditions for this body.
-
Do these in an attitude of prayer. Let the helpful forces that are brought to the body be put to creative, helpful influence in the experiences of others.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is there any trouble due to teeth, or condition of teeth? (A) This as we find is more a result of other troubles than producing the trouble. After there has been a completion of these series of treatments, we would have local attention for teeth and gums.
-
We are through for the present.
Two copies to Self (one for the Physiotherapist, marking the treatments he is to give: Dr. H. J. Reilly, R.C.A. Bldg., 1250 Sixth Ave., New York City) Copy to Ass’n file

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/13/42 Mrs. [2645]‘s ltr. to EC:
My dear Mr. Cayce:-
THANK you so much for your very kind letters & I would have answered them before but I have been sick with a very heavy cold in bed for about ten days. In fact I was in bed at the time of the reading. I just have too much cold yet, that I thought it would be unwise to start the Castor Oil packs until I was better? & also it seems as if I have been quite bad with my stomach & feelings around the heart -
I am a little afraid of taking the Steam Baths in the winter, as I catch cold so quickly how do you feel about this? I can hardly go from one room to another with catching more cold. I feel SURE that you have found my trouble & I am more than grateful to you.
Thanking you again. I will do just as you say
Sincerely Mrs. [2645]
R2. 1/14/42 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [2645]:
Dear Mrs. [2645]
Thank you for yours of the 13th. Am very much of the opinion, Mrs. [2645], the oil packs and the other treatments would help you get rid of the cold, if you are unable to get out. Why not phone Dr. Reilly and have him send some one to you? Do not think the expense would be prohibitive especially if you tell him why and through whom you came.
Believe would try this, feel you will get real help if you will give the suggestions a fair trial.
Know what a deep severe cold means but these treatments suggested I believe take all this into consideration.
Let me hear from you and how you come along.
With all good wishes
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R3. 1/26/42 Mrs. [2645]‘s ltr. to EC:

I am doing as you said in regard to the packs but have not be [been] able to go to Dr. Reilly’s for the baths am a bit afraid as I have so much trouble with headache as bad colds etc. & have had much trouble with stomach etc. - have had one irrigation. Miss Reilly coming over here after a few more weeks as you suggest. Will have another reading thank YOU SO VERY MUCH
Sincerely [2645] Jan 26/42
R4. 1/27/42 (Tuesday) Mrs. [2645]‘s ltr. to EC:
My dear Mr. Casey [Cayce]:-
I am sorry to bother you but I can’t quite understand if you wish me to continue with the Castor Oil packs. I am finishing the second series that means 6 packs & I did not know if you wish me to continue with them
Thanking you
Sincerely Mrs. [2645]
R5. 1/28/42 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [2645]:
Dear Mrs. [2645]
Thanks for yours of the 26th. Very glad to have you with us in the Prayers for Divine Guidance. The information will be sent very soon to all who have expressed a willingness to cooperate - the response has been very fine.
Do hope you are feeling much better. Feel sure you will if you can carry out the suggestions. Will be glad to make appointment for the check up at any time.
Thanking you again and with all good wishes
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R6. 1/30/42 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. [2645]:
Dear Mrs. [2645]
Have yours of the 27th. Yes, think it would be well for you to at least three days a week keep up the Oil Packs until you get real relief, and also to have the rest of that suggested just as soon as it is practical for you to have that. Dr. Reilly will be able to tell you just how many of those will be necessary, but the Packs do keep up for a few series of these any way. While they may be slow, they do relax in a way as nothing else will, will get you away from that tendency to take cold so easily, and make better circulation with packs and rubs that were suggested.
After a few weeks ask Dr. Reilly about the check up with another reading, and you and Dr. Reilly make a list of questions that may be helpful to each of you at the time.
Thanking you and hoping you are already feeling much better.
With all good wishes
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce

B1. 12/30/41 “My friend Miss […] has told me of the wonderful help you have given her and others. I am very much in need of help & I hope you can give me the same. If you can give me a rdg. as soon as you can I shall be most grateful. I have been ill about ten years, gradually increasing ‘til I am just about beside myself. The doctors don’t seem to find the real cause & I have had the best. I started with what seemed like colds, all the time in the head. It has now become so I can’t go out at all without starting the trouble up, running nose stopped up & terrible pains in head, neck, etc. I can’t even go from one room to another of different temperature without catching cold, sneezing, etc. I am CHILLY most of the time, sometimes real chills. I now have developed arthritis very bad in neck, can hardly turn my head, great pain in neck, shoulders, arm and hands; in fact, it seems to be spreading all over. Have tried heat, osteopathy, massage, diet, etc. Stomach has gone back on me at times. I am careful what I eat, do not smoke nor take liquor. The doctors found I had an infection from head, nose, throat & gums & stool, made culture & have had a few injections from it. Had some trouble with teeth a few years ago & gums laid back & scraped. Have had X-ray of teeth & they say no trouble there now at roots but some of them seem to have pain in them at times & some place the gums are sore. I have subnormal temperature.
“I am enclosing check as Miss […] said. I will be most grateful if you can help me.
“What is the cause? How may I get relief?
“I hope you can give me an early rdg., as I am very bad.”
B2. 1/3/42 She submitted questions for Physical Rdg.:
- Is my trouble due to teeth, sinus, stomach infection, or where?
