This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 2nd day of March, 1928, in accordance with request made by his brother, [257].

Furniture Dept., Time of Reading […] Brothers, 5:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give a complete reading on mental, physical, spiritual and financial life of [2653] and his association with […] Bros. Department Store, … Furniture Factories, … of which [257] is Sales Director, and the … Co., Mr. […] Wholesale Importers, … Street, all of New York City. You will answer the questions which I will ask you.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [2653], here - this we have had before.

3. The physical and mental development of the body has been, and is, very good.

4. The association with […] Brothers, in the department and in the general business association, has been well for the body, and would be well for the body to keep in line with such development - but, as has been given [See 2653-2], in a line where there is more of the decorative effects, or of departments where such has to do with textiles, with the arrangements of conditions surrounding same, would be the better for the body. Much has been outlined for the body, and this should be followed closely, especially through the periods as has been given for the body. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Should the entity continue his present connection with […] Bros., …, N.Y. City, Department Store? (A) Well, as has been given - rather in lines as have been OUTLINED would the body make the greater success, as given - though in this line, and in this connection, much may be accomplished by the entity.

6. (Q) Will there be a change of ownership in this business, and who will take it over? (A) We have [2653], not […] Brothers! As to the change - rather the conditions as associate with the body as given, this association well. The change, as given, better.

7. (Q) Should the entity remain in the furniture business as a life calling? (A) As given, the changes WOULD BE BETTER!

8. (Q) Would it be better for entity’s success to attempt to get a position with the new hotel supply firm associated with the brother’s - [257]‘s - business? (A) This nearer in line and in keeping with that as has been, and is, outlined for the body’s better development.

9. (Q) Would it be for the entity’s best interest to join … Furniture organization, … Avenue, N.Y. City? (A) In the capacities as has been outlined for the entity, would be the better for the entity. Would the entity insist in following in the one line, then make the best that may be made for self in that line. We have given that which is best for the entity! Do THAT!

10. (Q) Should entity improve self by taking special night courses? (A) This always well, provided the entity desires to follow along the lines as has been, and is, outlined. Take those lessons as towards decorative in the line the entity chooses for self, whether that of the purely furniture line or of that including every department in furnishing apartments or hotels.

11. (Q) What school subjects are best for his present and future development? (A) As given.

12. (Q) What does entity’s horoscope predict for 1928? (A) As given.

13. (Q) How can body improve mental ability? (A) By application!

14. (Q) How can he improve his spiritual worthiness? (A) By applying that known, that already attained. The spiritual forces apply from within. Use that thou hast in hand, that others may be given thee.

15. (Q) When should body consider matrimony? (A) When it chooses!

16. (Q) What warnings should body have to make life successful? (A) Use that thou hast in hand in applying self in that through those channels as has been outlined, and make the life ONE. Not that of any one-sided life, for the spiritual, the mental, the physical, must be as ONE, would the better development come for the body.

17. (Q) Has body profited by association with retail furniture business? (A) As given.

18. (Q) Is there any industry other than furniture which offers a greater success and possibility of accomplishment? (A) Only that as has been outlined, and is outlined here for the body.

19. (Q) Should body follow leadership and advice of older brother, [257]? (A) Very well if it combines with that as has been given here. No, if it does not!

R10. 7/24/34 Mother’s letter: “[2653] just went into business with Mr. [213] [leather business] - maybe he will get a break this time.”

R11. 8/10/35 See brother’s reading 257-154, Par. 23-A, 24-A saying [2653] would be successful in the N.J. territory of [257]‘s business.

R12. 8/23/35 [257]‘s letter to EC: ”…[2653] already had started - well he had accepted and had made up his mind the week you said he had but he couldn’t actually go to work until today - no fault of his but we didn’t get the full information from the factory until this morning or swatches, and etc. The reading told him years ago to deal in colors, designs, tapestries, and etc.; today we got about 100 different samples of all colors of upholstery coverings in many types - he got his price list - his books and etc. and begins on Monday to go to work. So he fulfills - finally - his destiny and with me and in designs and colors and he will be successful…”

R14. 6/23/38 See reading 1621-1, Par. 27-A telling a wealthy business associate of [257] that instead of selling his store [furniture, bedding, floor covering, etc., in N.J.], on account of illness, he should take a YOUNG man as a partner, “such an one as [2653] or the like”.

R15. 1/2/42 Sister [459]‘s letter: “I wonder if we should get a reading about [2653]. He probably would be good working in defense out at the Wright field here. I know a key man - He would be useful in the field of defense.” [GD’s note: The family was worried about [2653] being drafted.]

R16. 1/16/42 Letter: “I would appreciate it very much if you could give me the following reading as soon as possible:”
